The University of Arizona’s Eller College Online MBA is a foundational business program that offers highly flexible and customizable options for students.
As a 100% asynchronous program, the Eller OMBA has six starts per year. Students can complete the Eller OMBA in as little as 14 months or take up to four years.
“The Eller O-MBA program is taught by world-class faculty and offers flexibility with support,” Pam Perry, Interim Associate Dean of the Eller MBA, says. “Each student is supported by faculty that respond quickly to their questions and an administrative support team 100% dedicated to their success.”
A Robust Core Curriculum
The Eller OMBA curriculum includes courses in accounting, economics, finance, marketing, management information systems, marketing and management.
On top of the foundational core, OMBA students at Eller can choose from electives in entrepreneurship, health care, privacy and security as well as more advanced courses in accounting, economics, finance, marketing and management
“Students typically begin their studies with Core classes as they are foundational,” Perry says. “After their first year they then move on to taking electives of their choice.”
Courses are offered in a carousel format with 8-week sessions with an estimated weekly time commitment of 15 to 20 hours a week.
The Eller OMBA offers six concentrations including Entrepreneurship, Finance, Management, Health Care, Privacy and Security and Marketing.
Flexibility
While offering the core foundational studies, the Eller OMBA also allows for flexibility and customization.

Eller recently introduced two new DUAL master’s programs. Students who choose a dual degree program can now earn an MBA and a masters in Health Care Management degree or an MBA and a masters in Accountancy degree.
“We will offer three additional dual degrees with an MBA paired with a masters in Information Systems, Cyber Security, and Entrepreneurship in the near future,” Perry says.
Experiential Opportunities
Students also have access to a number of experiential opportunities at Eller.
The Global Context of Business course focuses exclusively on key economic and competitive factors impacting national and industrial sector performance in an increasingly global and volatile marketplace. Through the course, Eller students participate in a 10-day Global Business Experience in a developing, emerging, or notable market abroad.
“This course seeks to globalize the lens through which students view business,” according to Eller’s website. “We will consider a variety of perspectives and we will focus on various geographic regions, including the BRIC countries and Europe.”
Other electives include courses such as Business Law, Customer Focused Entrepreneurship, Healthcare Quality and Reliability, and Social and Ethical Issues of the Internet, to name a few.
Career Opportunities
Eller has strong ties to the Southwest region and enables its OMBA students to connect with neighboring companies.
Some popular employers for Eller OMBAs include Raytheon, General Motors. Wells Fargo, Banner, Phoenix Children’s Hospital and UTC Aerospace Systems.
Eller OMBAs have access to full-time in-house career professionals as well as to an online career course taught by a professional career coach.
“Our career services teamwork extensively throughout the southwest region and constantly looks for opportunities to provide online students that are in the region the opportunity to network with local leaders,” Perry says.
Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate for Eller’s O-MBA program has three main characteristics:
“We seek applicants that are academically qualified, with at least three years of professional experience,” Jorden says. “We are looking for students driven to succeed and willing to work in collaboration with our faculty and staff to achieve their academic goals.” On average, the incoming class for 2017-2018 has 7.32 years of work experience and a median GMAT score of 535.
