About the Program

This is a no-frills, completely online and highly affordable MBA that earned a top ten ranking spot in the 2021 U.S. News Online MBA Ranking. The University of Mississippi ranked tenth, in a tie with five other programs. With a $32,220 price tag, it’s one of the most inexpensive online options in the market. Only one other school in the top ten was priced below it: the Online MBA program from the University of Wisconsin’s MBA Consortium at $28,800.

Ole Miss’ program is a 36-hour program with no electives and no specializations that can be completed in as little as two years or extended to accommodate any work schedule. To get it done in as short a time as possible, students would have to go for four semester and two summer sessions. The program focuses on strengthening leadership, creativity, communication, and critical thinking skills, which are imperative to success. In the fall semester, there’s a capstone in the Strategic Management course that allows students to apply the skills acquired in the first year courses to real business problems.

In the scheme of things, it’s a tiny program with a total enrollment of just 71 students. So class sizes are small with the average course having 19 students in it and a maximum of 60. But the first-year retention rate is 91% and the graduation rate in three years is 88%. Those are pretty solid numbers, equivalent to UNC’s Kenan-Flagler Business School’s online offering.

Applicants for the online MBA program with five or more years of post graduate work experience cab qualify for a GMAT or GRE waiver at Ole Miss. Roughly a third of the enrolled students got into the program without a standardized test score, with 37% supplying a GMAT and 25% a GRE. The school advises…
