The Robert H. Smith School of Business MBA: What You Need To Know

Recognizing that today’s business students need flexibility, students have various options for accelerating Maryland Smith’s 21-month MBA program should they choose. Smith’s full-time MBA curriculum gives students an understanding of the importance of globalization, entrepreneurship, and technology (GET) in today’s business environment – the core pillars of the program.

The Robert H. Smith School of Business is in College Park, Maryland in the D.C. area – with a multitude of opportunities for networking, experiential learning, internships and jobs less than ten miles away from the White House. As many know, D.C. is home to federal agencies, corporate headquarters, world-class think tanks, and national and international nonprofits

“The Smith MBA program is built around world-class faculty, cutting-edge research, case discussions and data-driven decision making in order to build more resilient and articulate business leaders,” says Jared Turesky, Class of 2021 on the MBA site.

Pre-MBA, students are invited to attend the “Be Fearless” summer webinar series to warm them up for what’s to come. Throughout the core courses, students explore how globalization, entrepreneurship, and technology are changing business practices, and they learn critical management skills in leadership, teamwork, integrative analysis, and oral and written communication. Customization comes through specialties in one of five focus areas, being Finance, Marketing, Consulting & General Management, Supply Chain, Technology & Innovation Management.

Outside of required courses, Smith MBAs partake in professional organizations and clubs, attend conferences. Post-grad MBAs typically go into consulting, marketing/sales or general management, with an average base salary of $117,000. Smith MBAs tend to stay connected and can tap into a network of 34,000 Smith MBA alumni anytime who live in the D.C. area.
