ASU MBA working professionals

The Evening MBA program from ASU’s W. P. Carey School of Business is a fantastic option for working professionals who are ready to advance their careers and make an impact, without putting their lives on pause. The program’s flexibility and focus on developing connected, people-first leaders has been meaningful for graduates across industries.

“Pursuing my MBA, I knew I wanted to have even more business skills to be a stronger advocate for the communities I serve,” says alumna Veronica Aguilar. “It was an easy choice for me because of the awards the school has won, the prestige of the program, and the faculty and staff.”

For alumnus Brennan Lawson, the Evening MBA was an opportunity to strengthen his resume and transition into a new career. “When I started looking around for MBA programs, I came across ASU as the top option in the state,” he says. “I was an officer in the Air Force, so I did have some experience with leadership and management, but it’s an entirely different school of thought leading airmen versus leading a team of peers on different functions of my business.”

For those who are determined to achieve their career goals and have the ambition to keep moving forward, balancing the Evening MBA along with everything else is well worth it. This is a degree with an immediate impact and value that can be seen from day one.

Career Advancement On Your Schedule

W. P. Carey first supported Aguilar’s career growth as an undergraduate business student, before graduating top of her class and joining Teach for America. After completing the Evening MBA, she advanced to lead their national west coast recruitment team.

“I received the job right after I graduated, because I gained the management and leadership skills necessary to help a national organization bring more teachers into the classroom,” she says. “I now have one of the most powerful networks because of W. P. Carey.”

The flexible format, with a combination of classes in the evening and some available online, allows students to work around their own schedules while building relationships in person on ASU’s Tempe campus. You never know when you’ll be assigned to work late, and not every Evening MBA offers you the flexibility of online learning.

As working professionals, Evening MBA students are able to take lessons learned in the classroom and apply them to their professional lives. “I learned that entrepreneurship was for me,” says Lawson. He entered the program intending to land a career in tech, and spent a few years in that space before launching ISM Fashion House, a Los Angeles-based boutique that currently offers eyewear designed by Lawson himself.

“I’ve softened my approach, and I think I’m a better leader now than I was in the Air Force, and that’s because of entrepreneurship,” he adds.

Highly Ranked And Highly Flexible

As the top-ranked part-time MBA in Arizona, W. P. Carey’s Evening MBA offers a flexible schedule, customizable curriculum, and different learning modalities to fit each student’s unique wants and needs. “The skills to be competitive in the job market are rapidly shifting,” says Kate Eaton, associate dean of graduate programs at W. P. Carey. “We strive for our programs to be a springboard for students to get where they want to be throughout their careers.”

For those who are looking to complete their degree in as little as two years, classes are available two nights a week on campus. But for those students who need some added flexibility in their class schedule, some courses are also available in an online format. These classes feature the same content taught by the same faculty as the in-person version.

Many MBA programs, particularly other part-time programs, deliver a basic set of core business classes, with little customization available. The W. P. Carey Evening MBA stands apart in this regard, with countless ways for students to make the degree their own, fitting with their strengths and career goals.

The program features 40+ electives and eight optional concentrations for those who want to focus their Evening MBA on a more specific area of business. Disciplines include in-demand areas like artificial intelligence, business data analytics, entrepreneurship, and international business so that students can be prepared for the business careers of the present and the future.

“W. P. Carey is known for supply chain and finance is also popular,” Lawson says. “ I was more interested broadly in this concept of commerce, and how it can create freedom for folks.”

No matter what interests you most, there’s a path for you at W. P. Carey. The Evening MBA is available to begin in either the fall or spring semester, providing further flexibility to students to begin their educational journey when best suits them.

Along the way, students form close-knit connections with faculty members, industry leaders, and their peers. They learn new, valuable skills through project-based learning and team exercises, and they develop into action-oriented, connected leaders ready to transform the business world.

Your Path To Transformation

Evening MBA students represent a multitude of unique backgrounds, industries, and career aspirations, providing a rich learning experience for all. Every class and project is an opportunity to hear new thoughts and perspectives.

“The most meaningful aspects of my W. P. Carey education and experience were truly the relationships that I built,” says Aguilar. “Even after you graduate, you’ll have people in your corner who are still working here and also alumni who want you to succeed.”

Evening MBA students can plan their next professional steps with support from the W. P. Carey Career Services Center, which offers career coaching and a range of relevant resources. More than 650 employers from 35+ industries partner with W. P. Carey to recruit talent. And as a STEM-designated degree, the program provides additional opportunities for job training and skill development for international students.

No matter where you are in life, or what your schedule looks like, the W. P. Carey Evening MBA is always an available option. Through innovative coursework delivered with flexible scheduling, you’ll become the leader you’re meant to be with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to take on your biggest goals.

Ready to take the next step? There’s no better time than right now. The program no longer requires GMAT or GRE scores as part of the application process to make it even easier to get started.

Advance your career with the Evening MBA program at ASU’s W. P. Carey School of Business.
