The Elton MBA: What You Need To Know

Every Elton MBA candidate gets a personal team: a business coach, an executive coach, and a professor. Your advisor sits down with you in week one and asks where you are, where you want to be, and what’s in the way. That answer becomes your curriculum. We build the sequence around your goals rather than running you through a fixed catalog of core classes and electives.

A Coaching Team, Not A Classroom

The model borrows from an older idea than the modern business school: the Oxford tutorial, where a small group of students meets weekly with a scholar to argue through ideas rather than sit through lectures. We run every session one-on-one or in groups of three or fewer. Your professors teach the hard skills. Your coaches apply those skills to the business problem you’re actually facing this week. Your advisors connect you to people and opportunities in your field.

The research behind this isn’t new. Educational psychologist Benjamin Bloom’s landmark 1984 study found that students tutored one-to-one with mastery learning techniques scored two standard deviations higher than students taught in a conventional classroom — the average tutored student outperformed 98% of the control class. Bloom called finding a scalable substitute for that kind of tutoring “the 2 sigma problem.” We didn’t try to solve it. We built the university around not needing to. SAGE Publications

What You’ll Actually Learn

Every candidate works through six domains: Business Systems, Business Strategy, Technology & AI, Marketing & Growth, Team Dynamics, and Personal Mastery. Underneath those sit the topics you’d expect in any serious MBA — finance, accounting, marketing, strategy, operations, organizational behavior, analytics, entrepreneurship, HR, ethics, and law — but you apply every one of them to a real challenge in your business or your career, not a case study about someone else’s.

From there, you declare a concentration: Executive Leadership and Intrapreneurship, Entrepreneurship, SMB Leadership, Social Impact and Sustainability, or Product Management. If none of those match where you’re headed, you design your own with your advisor — past candidates have built concentrations around film production, healthcare, fintech, and law.

Pick The Pace That Fits Your Life

You choose the format that matches your life, not the other way around. Spare Time runs 18 months at 15 hours a week and keeps you working full-time. Part Time runs 14 months at 24 hours a week, with a second professor added to your team. Accelerated — our most popular track — compresses the degree into 10 months at 32 hours a week, with three professors on your team. If you need something shorter, the MBA Certificate runs 4 to 9 months and stacks toward the full degree later.

Tuition, Timing, And The Fine Print

We charge $18,000 for the full MBA, with a 10% discount if you pay upfront. The Certificate runs $10,000 on the same terms. We can charge this little because we don’t carry the overhead that drives up tuition elsewhere — no physical campus to staff and maintain, no tenure system funding decades of compensation disconnected from how much a professor teaches you this term. Every dollar goes to the coaches, professors, and advisors working directly with you.

We don’t require the GMAT, and you don’t need a bachelor’s degree if you have some college credit plus business experience. You can start any time rather than waiting for a September or January cohort, and if you or we decide in your first 30 days that Elton isn’t the right fit, you get a full refund.
