The Poole College of Management MBA: What You Need To Know

In the North Carolina State Poole College of Management Jenkins MBA program, students learn by doing – working on real projects for companies, with a hands-on learning approach that immerses students in the real-world experiences and prepares them to compete in today’s technology-driven global marketplace. The Jenkins MBA is also proud to say that it has earned STEM designation for its entire program.

The technology focus is prominent throughout the MBA. All students take core courses related to technology, including strategy, operations, and managing people in a high-tech environment. Even courses in traditional management subjects, such as economics and marketing, have a technology slant. In most of the concentrations students can take courses in technical fields, such as industrial engineering and computer science. Most students have a strong technology background and seek careers with high-tech companies.

Through simulations, case studies, and projects, the incoming classes of around 46 students learn through real-world examples and experiences. Because of the small cohort size, students have very personalized MBA experience.

Over 21 months, students learn through an integrated core curriculum, with a focus on of course technology, business processes, and practical applications in a collaborative learning environment in 54 credit hours. In addition, they are able to choose from specialized concentrations and open electives to strengthen specific skill sets including supply chain management, marketing management, innovation management, technology entrepreneurship and commercialization and financial management.

Jenkins MBA students are deeply engaged with their fellow students, the faculty, and the corporate world throughout their program. Students complete internships and a practicum, participate in case competitions and national conferences, and can join and lead multiple student organizations (including MBASA, Minorities in Business, NetApp, and more).
