The University of Rhode Island offers a one-year MBA that prepares students to take on today’s rapidly changing economy through critical thinking and problem-solving and gives them the practical knowledge and experience necessary to succeed.

The university is based out of the main URI campus in Kingston – a picturesque and historic part of Rhode Island close to beautiful beaches like Narragansett Town Beach and the scenic Beavertail State Park.

The MBA curriculum fuses strategy with critical thinking, creative exploration, through opportunities for both theoretical and practical application in the business community.

The program consists of 42 credits, and optional are a summer internship, electives with the Evening M.B.A. students, and directed study work.

Practical experience is key, and the B-School ties the program together with a final consulting capstone where students will solve complex problems for local companies through live case studies and a final capstone/consulting project in the spring. Recent capstone business partners have included BusySeed, CVS Health, Fidelity Investments, Hasbro, IGT, Ocean State Job Lot, and Taco Comfort Solutions.

URI also offers an evening MBA for those who wish to earn their MBA part time at night while they continue working. Outside of the required curriculum, there’s plenty of additional enriching experiences for MBAs to participate in during their time in the program.

“URI offers quite a few events for us to get involved in. One of the biggest ones was career day, which URI hosts every year. That is actually where I got my internship. It was great practice marketing yourself to employers,” says MBA Caytlyn Greene in a YouTube video on the B-school’s website.
