The Masters in Quantitative Financial Economics is managed and overseen by the Duke Financial Economics Center (DFE) in the Departments of Economics to train and develop quantitative financial economics skills linked to finance and related areas to prepare graduates for Ph.D. studies or related professions.
The MQFE program is expected to enroll between 8-10 students per year. An undergraduate degree in economics or finance is not required; however, a strong quantitative background is essential. Students entering this program are expected to have taken courses in multivariable calculus, linear algebra (including differential equations) and probability and statistics. A background in programming (ideally Matlab or R) is preferable.
