At Michigan Ross, the Master of Accounting is about much more than the CPA exam. Students gain a comprehensive understanding of how accounting thrives within the corporate world by customizing one-third of their degree with cross-discipline electives from top-ranked University of Michigan programs. Outside the classroom, students network with MBA students, attend the EY Public Policy Symposium in Washington, D.C., and participate in Sanger Leadership Center seminars that aid in their ability to make crucial business decisions. Michigan Ross MAcc students can also gain an in-depth understanding of a global business topic via a spring break study abroad opportunity, which includes both fieldwork and company visits. The success of this broad-based approach is evident: 100% of 2017 Michigan Ross MAcc graduates received an offer of employment within 6 months of graduation and the program has produced twelve Elijah Watt Sells Award winners since 2012. Michigan Ross is also one of the select universities where the major four accounting firms place students nationally.
30 credit hours of core and elective courses are required to complete the MAcc degree. Students enter the program in September and complete their degree in May. The MAcc core includes a balanced mix of accounting and financial reporting coursework. MAcc elective choices are virtually unlimited. Among these elective options are fully integrated Ross MBA courses, as well as up to 6 credit hours of non-Ross courses, including courses in public policy, law, foreign language and other disciplines.
