The Texas MPA degree offers a flexible, challenging curriculum that takes into account experience, skills and career goals. Through participation in case-based graduate level classes, students expand creativity, accounting and financial skills, and have the opportunity to apply classroom learning to real-world situations.
Texas McCombs offers three different programs within their MPA: the Traditional MPA, the Integrated MPA and the Econ-MPA.
Traditional MPA (tMPA)
Students with an undergraduate degree in accounting will complete a 31-hour program in either two semesters (Fall and Spring) or three semesters (Fall, Spring, and Summer). If they opt to participate in employment recruiting in the fall, they will be encouraged to balance their schedule by completing fewer courses in the fall and extending graduation to early summer.
Students with an undergraduate degree in an area outside of accounting or business complete a 43-hour program in four semesters (summer, fall, spring, and summer). However, students who chose to complete an internship have an opportunity to graduate in the fall.
Integrated MPA (iMPA)
The Integrated MPA approach is a faster, less expensive way to earn BBA and MPA degrees. Graduate course work requirements for the iMPA vary significantly depending on tracks. Students choose between four concentrations: Financial Reporting / Assurance, Magagerial, Tax, and Generalist. All four options contain a total of 36 hours of graduate course work.
ECON-MPA
Students who complete the ECON-MPA curriculum earn both a B.A. degree in economics and a Master in Professional Accounting (MPA) degree. The nature and length of a student’s program vary based on prior educational background, special interests, internship and coursework opportunities, CPA examination plans, and other factors.
