Extracurricular Activities: Founder and Faculty Director of the Alliance for Research in Corporate Sustainability, an alliance of 12 schools including UVA, Harvard, Yale, and Dartmouth.

According to The Aspen Institute Center for Business Education, the commitment of business school faculty is critical in ensuring that social and environmental issues become more fully infused in business education and business practice. In 2009, the institute awarded Professor Michael Lenox with a Faculty Pioneer Award for his leadership in integrating social and environmental issues into his research and teaching at the Darden School. He also has served as an assistant professor at New York University’s Stern School of Business and as a visiting professor at Harvard University, Oxford University and IMD.

Professor Lenox has been a long-standing thought leader on the interface between business strategy and public policy as it relates to the natural environment. He is the Founder and Faculty Director for the multiple-university Alliance for Research on Corporate Sustainability. Recent research from the professor—who is also the Associate Dean and Executive Director for Darden’s Batten Institute of Entrepreneurship and Innovation—explores firm strategies and non-traditional public policies that drive green innovation and entrepreneurship.
