Nobody likes to say “I’m Sorry,” yet Cornell professor, Benjamin Ho, uses economic tools to assess the value of an apology. Professor Ho’s research utilizes economic tools such as game theory and experimental economics to analyze social interactions. His research includes a theoretical analysis of how apologies are used to maintain relationships, as well as a statistical examination of the role apologies play in medical malpractice lawsuits. Prior to Cornell, Professor Ho was the lead economist for energy and transportation at the White House Council of Economic Advisers. He was also a research analyst for Morgan Stanley.
Students Say:
“Professor Ho teaches a much broader and more applicable skill for his students: critical thinking. Through class discussion and debate, students learn how to think through problems critically, develop convincing arguments, and defend their perspective.”
