About the Program
The University of Virginia’s Master of Science in Business Analytics (MSBA) is a one-year program designed for working professionals. Taught by top-ranked faculty from UVA’s Darden School of Business and McIntire School of Commerce, students learn technical skills for analytics along with key business skills, including strategy, management, and communication. A project-oriented focus lets students apply their knowledge through real-world cases and simulations with corporate partners. MSBA is open to a wide variety of perspectives and professional backgrounds. There is no prerequisite coursework required for admission.
Program Format and Schedule
MSBA features a hybrid format that allows you to master new skills without putting your career on hold. Most of the program is taught via online platforms, including weekly synchronous Zoom classes. MSBA students will also take part in 10 in-person weekend residencies over the course of the year. The program begins in August each year. Over 12 months, the cohort progresses through five applied learning modules taught by our award-winning faculty.

The M.S. in the Management of Information Technology (M.S. in MIT) Program is for early- to mid-career professionals seeking to advance their careers by bettering their understanding of the business-IT nexus; the M.S. in Business Analytics (MSBA), delivered in partnership with UVA’s Darden School of Business provides expert preparation in the analytical, technical, and leadership skills necessary for transforming data sets into strategic decisions.
