Professor Terry Taylor’s academic interests include the economics of operations management and supply chain management. His research and teaching look at operational issues confronted by manufacturing and service companies. In 2009, Professor Taylor won the Earl F. Cheit Excellence in Teaching award at the Haas School of Business.
“Professor Taylor doesn’t just teach Operational Leadership, he personifies it. From his color-coded handouts, to his pre-designed white board diagrams, to his multiple choice-heavy final exam, Professor Taylor gives us countless simple but non-trivial examples of what he means by taking steps to mitigate the “pain” of variability. Despite the conspicuous efficiency of his course, Professor Taylor is genuinely committed to making it even better and regularly presses his students for constructive feedback via surveys and focus groups. In addition to these processes, Prof Taylor takes a deep interest in ensuring his students are connecting with course material and is both responsive and available to address student concerns of a professional as well as academic nature.” — Bernie Murphy, Berkeley MBA Class of 2011
