The purists will tell you to enroll in b-school for the “education.” But it’s no secret what MBA students really want: Career advancement, more options, and higher earnings. Sure, you can pour over the school rankings to compare placement and starting salaries. But how are top schools putting students in position to land those coveted jobs with the best companies?

One critical source is a school’s career management center. These are the people who build relationships with employers, set up interviews, advocate for internships, and connect students with prominent alumni. Chances are, they’re your secret weapon to getting your foot in the right doors.

So how can you measure which schools have the best career centers? Well, Bloomberg Businessweek has been measuring it since 1988. Every two years, they conduct a graduate survey, where students assign a letter grade to their center. After 12 surveys – and over 83,000 responses – some striking patterns have emerged. One school has ranked in the top 20th percentile of every survey…and two others have ranked that high in all but two surveys. So who are these schools — and what are their secrets?
