How to Succeed at Interviews

School: University of Sheffield

Platform: FutureLearn

Registration Link: REGISTER HERE

Start Date: July 4 (3 Weeks)

Workload: 3 Hours Per Week

Instructor: Hilary Jones and Pamela Hakefost

Credentials: Jones is the postgraduate internships coordinator at the University of Sheffield, where she works closely with students, administrators, and employers to develop training and assist with placements. She will be assisted in this course by Pamela Hakefost, who also works in the university’s career services office.

Graded: Students can purchase a Statement of Participation after completing the course.

Description: Ever botch an interview? There are so many places where it could go wrong. In this course, you’ll learn how to make a positive, lasting impression on employers. In particular, you’ll learn how to research potential employers, answer the most commonly-asked questions, dress to bolster your credibility, and approach different interview venues like telephone, group, and video. In addition, students will also hear directly from employers on what differentiates those candidates who land jobs – and those who get a letter. The content is delivered through videos and readings, which are reinforced through exercises and quizzes. At the end of the course, students will compile a portfolio that reflects their best work.
