MAJOR EMPLOYERS: DELOITTE, AMAZON, BCG, CITY AND ERNST & YOUNG

Cornell said its top recruiting companies this year were Deloitte Consulting, edging out last year’s No. 1 employer Amazon, which came in second this year. Otherwise, the most MBA hires in 2016 were made by Boston Consulting Group, Citigroup, Ernst & Young, McKinsey & Co., Accenture, Liberty Mutual Group, Bank of America, Bain & Co., Deutsche Bank, Microsoft, RBC Capital Markets, Samsung Electronics, and SunTrust Robinson Humphrey. The school’s employment report did not disclose the number of MBA hires by each of those companies. Disappearing off the major employer list this year were JP Morgan Chase, Credit Suisse, Intel, and PwC.

Employment for international and domestic students, moreover, was just about equal, though what the school calls “non-U.S. work authorized” students could claim slightly higher average salary, sign-on bonus and job offer numbers. International students, for example, averaged base salaries of $122,905 vs. $120,599 for domestic students. The job offer rate at graduation and three months later for internationals was a percent higher, 85% vs. 84%, and 95% vs. 94%, respectively.
