Lance (Xiaohu) Kuang

IESE Business School

Describe yourself in 15 words or less: A doctor with business mindset and a warm heart.

Hometown: Beijing, China

Fun Fact About Yourself: I used to hiked in Siberia ice field for three days with only unlined trousers, which made local people shocked…..I used to pass through Tibet and made many local Tibetan friends

Undergraduate School and Major: Tsinghua University/Peking Union Medical College, Clinical medicine, M.D.

Employers and Job Titles Since Graduation: Peking Union Medical College Hospital, doctor; Alfawassermann, senior product manager; Booming Medical Group, business development manager; Wiifine Medinformation, Co-founder/CEO

Describe your biggest accomplishment in your career so far: Found a startup to develop and market a kind of intelligent ophthalmic disease screening device for rural population. As I have been to many rural places, I feel that I have the mission to do something for the poor.

Looking back on your experience, what advice would you give to future business school applicants? Don’t pay too much time on repeating GMAT (but of course higher GMAT is a door opener). You should focus on the essays, your own stories that touch the admission officers.

What led you to choose this program for your full-time MBA? One thing is that I think highly of is the case study mode of class. The other thing is that I like Barcelona.

Tell us about your dream job or dream employer at this point in your life? Current dream job: Marketing or strategy manager in Novartis or Roche.

I could fully use my knowledge in pharmaceutical industry to relieve the suffering and pain of patients by introducing the best medicine to people.

What would you like your business school peers to say about you after you graduate from this program? I will call you and drink with you when I go to your city!
