P&Q To Begin Professor Of The Week Series

Darden School ethics professor Andrew Wicks

I want to introduce an exciting new feature we’re launching in Poets&Quants will soon launch a new weekly feature that will showcase research done by a professor at a leading business school. “Professor of the Week” will summarize the main findings of recent research and include some discussion of the professor’s background and personal interests, along with a photo.

But it will be primarily about their research on topics in the news or of interest to our readership of prospective MBA applicants. “We view this as a way to bring compelling and cutting-edge business school faculty research to a much broader audience and introduce to MBA applicants the work of professors whose classes they might take,” says P&Q Founder John A. Byrne

We will include peer-reviewed studies published in leading academic journals and working papers published by business schools or groups like the National Bureau of Economic Research. Since studies are primarily collaborations, we prefer to focus on the lead author. Once the pieces are written, we will submit them to the professors not for editing but for verifying the accuracy of our account of their work, and we request that they return their comments to us ASAP.

This feature will be developed by Howard Gold, a veteran business journalist who has written for Forbes, Barron’s, USAToday and MarketWatch. Howard won a Gerald Loeb Award for Distinguished Business and Financial Journalism and has an MBA in finance and management from Columbia Business School. He has been contributing regularly to Chicago Booth Review, which publishes features about research from faculty of the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. “Professor of the Week” will include the work of researchers from many business schools.
