3 Ways To Increase Your GMAT Score

3 LinkedIn Tips for Applicants

LinkedIn can be a helpful resource for MBA applicants looking to enhance their candidacy for B-school.

In her latest article, Stacy Blackman, founder of Stacy Blackman Consulting, discussed how MBA applicants can utilize the professional social media platform to bolster their MBA profile.

COMPLEMENT YOUR APPLICATION

Blackman says your LinkedIn profile should complement what’s already in your application and help admissions officers get a better sense of who you are.

“Your profile should highlight your leadership and accomplishments, plus present a complete picture of your interests, passions, and career goals,” she writes.

QUANTIFY ACHIEVEMENTS

Similar to your resume, your LinkedIn profile should quantify your achievements throughout the years.

“Think about your career over the years and try to find the most standout numbers,” PADYA PARAMITA, of InGenius Prep, writes. “If you’ve led a team in a project, how many members were you in charge of? If you were in sales, how much revenue did you help the company earn? If you’ve been involved in social media, how many people did you help your company reach?”

BE CONSISTENT

Since your LinkedIn profile will complement your application, you’ll want to ensure that they are consistent and up-to-date with the latest information.

Blackman recommends cross-checking information such as your education, employer names, and dates to see that everything lines up.

“Consistency between your LinkedIn profile and MBA application is vital. If the person reviewing your application spots inconsistencies compared to the data form, you’re inviting additional scrutiny. This could potentially raise a red flag that puts other aspects of your application under the microscope.”
