Where are you currently working? Deborah Heart and Lung Center, Cardiologist

What achievement are you most proud of in your professional career? I’m most proud of the opportunity I have been given to save lives everyday as a physician.

Why did you choose this school’s online MBA program? With a very busy schedule and a commitment to becoming a cardiologist, I felt the best way to get the experience of becoming an MBA was to utilize the power of technology to mimic the same experience on my own schedule without losing that in person experience.

What was your favorite part of being in an online MBA program? My favorite part of the online MBA program was my ability to learn at my own pace, and to concentrate on my physician duties, but still be able to become an integral part of the MBA community.

What was the most surprising thing about an online learning environment? It was the ability to learn with those in other states and even in other countries. Some of my classmates travel for work and can be in different time zones every day of the week, but can still complete group projects in a timely manner.

How did your online experience compare with your in-the-classroom experience as an undergraduate student? I felt that the online environment allows for better utilization of time and can yield a greater return as long as you are good at planning and scheduling your time correctly. I tend to learn quickly and found it easier to do that on my own as opposed to sitting in a classroom for 3 hours.

What would you change about an online MBA Program? It would be the ability of the program to adapt to your needs better. Some students enroll straight from business school. I enrolled many years later on the track of becoming a physician. The ability of the online sector to adapt to the needs of the student could improve. It takes more work on the student’s side to make that process work well.

How has your online education helped you in your current job? It has allowed me to secure other job opportunities that I hope to one day start up a sole cardiology practice. The information that I learned in this course will help me to fulfill that goal.

Number of Hours Per Week Spent On Online MBA: 15-20 hours

What is your ultimate long-term professional goal? I envision myself as a leader in the field of cardiology with the goals of starting up services for heart failure patients at community hospitals that otherwise would not have the resources for these patients. I also envision myself working in a healthcare administration role managing quality improvement.
