JOB ACCEPTANCE WAY UP FOR TEXAS MCCOMBS MBAs The McCombs School of Business at The University of Texas at Austin has not yet released its full 2021 MBA report. However, Jolene Hood Ashcraft, director of marketing for MBA programs, provided Poets&Quants a sneak peek. This year, 93.8% of McCombs MBA were offered jobs three months after graduation while 92.9% accepted – the school’s highest acceptance rate in 10 years and up 7% from 2020, Ashcraft says. By comparison, 85.6% of last year’s MBAs had accepted jobs 90 days after grabbing their diplomas. For international students, 90% accepted an offer three months after graduation, up more than 14% from 2020. McCombs MBAs also secured one of the highest median base salaries in school history at $130,000, up 4% from last year’s $125,000 median mark. 2021 average base salaries were $129,854 up a smidge from 2020’s $128,586. Meanwhile, average signing bonuses were down a fraction to $28,153 while median bonuses, $25,000, were flat from 2020. The median salary for international students was $130,000, up more than 8% from $120,000 in 2020. For all McCombs 2021 MBAs, the top five hiring industries were technology (34%), consulting (23%), financial Services (17%), consumer Products (6%), and petroleum and energy (6%). AT UCLA, AVERAGE SALARY UP, SIGNING BONUS DOWN UCLA’s Anderson School of Management similarly hasn’t yet finalized its 2021 report, but provided the following highlights: By graduation, 81.8% of Anderson MBAs had received job offers and 93.1% secured offers by three months later; 92.7% of grads accepted offers. Average base salary of $135,273 was up 2.1% over last year’s $132,460 average. Median base salary was $130,000, the same as 2021, while the salary range was $31,650 to $190,000 The average signing bonus was $29,877, down 4.63% from 2020’s $31,329.
