What word best describes the Tuck MBA students and alumni you’ve met so far and why? Approachable and enthusiastic. When I was making my business school decision, the people I talked to from Tuck were always willing to chat and seemed genuinely excited to share about their experience at the school. Even people who hadn’t gone to Tuck spoke so highly of all the Tuckies they had worked with.

Aside from your classmates, what was the key part of Dartmouth Tuck’s MBA programming that led you to choose this business school and why was it so important to you? One of the main reasons I chose Tuck was for its smaller class size and the prospect of being able to build strong relationships with professors and other MBA faculty. There is a personalized feel to this program and getting to know those involved with the program well is not just available but encouraged of students.

What course, club or activity excites you the most at Dartmouth Tuck? Other than tripod hockey, I am most excited about the Center for Health Care and the Health Care Club. Both the Center and the club put an emphasis on creating programming that is relevant to the interests of students as well as collaboration with other centers, like the Center for Digital Strategies and Center for Business, Government, and Society.

What excites you the most about coming to live in Hanover? What is the one activity you can’t wait to do? This is a pretty common answer at Tuck, but I am particularly looking forward to ski season. I am excited to take advantage of the nearby slopes with a big group of Tuckies. Everyone from lifelong skiers to those who have never seen snow is looking forward to it. That said, being up here in August has also been awesome to explore the hikes and river activities that are available in the warmer weather.

Describe your biggest accomplishment in your career so far: At the startup I worked for, I was a key part of two pilot projects that would later be sold for seven figure contracts to our company’s biggest name customers. One of those projects was trying to identify groups most at risk due to care gaps caused by the pandemic. These pilots would eventually be commercialized, and I got to work closely with the product developers and designers to implement the analytics behind them.

How did COVID-19 change your perspective on your career and your life in general? I think COVID-19 shifted my perspective on what needs to be addressed when we think about health outcomes. Clinical conditions and chronic diseases are important, but equally important is access to information, affordable housing, socioeconomic stability, childcare, and so much more.

What led you to pursue an MBA at this point and what do you hope to do after graduation? After graduation, I am hoping to find a role focused on creating better policy and programs to support improved health outcomes and lower health care costs. I believe that the business skillset provided by an MBA will allow me to make better decisions with more confidence, explore the range of health care related opportunities that I might want to focus on, and prepare me to one day be a leader in the industry.

What other MBA programs did you apply to? HBS and Wharton

What advice would you give to help potential applicants gain admission into Dartmouth Tuck’s MBA program? Hanover has a unique culture, and I would learn as much as you can by talking to current or former Tuckies, attending admissions events, or visiting, if possible. Then spend some time to reflect and think about how you would contribute to this community and why you would benefit from being a part of it.
