P&Q’s Must Reads: MBA Pay By Region: Here’s How Much You’re Worth

Hello everyone  –- Welcome back to Poets&Quants’ Must Reads, a quick, digestible recap of the top business school news, sponsored by CentreCourt, P&Q’s virtual admission events.

I’m your host, Kristy Bleizeffer, and I’ll be highlighting the most important P&Q stories you might have missed. So, Let’s get to it.

No. 1: MBA Pay By Region: Here’s How Much You’re Worth

Where you live shapes your network and opportunities – even with Zoom and LinkedIn around. Over time, that could translate to fewer industry or company choices, relegating you to working below your worth. That’s a penalty that grows wider with each passing year as pay raises accrue.

If you’re wondering how much MBAs from the Top 50 business schools make, take some time to look through our overview of MBA Pay By Region, now on our homepage.

No. 2: Amid Withering Criticism, The Economist Kills Its MBA Ranking

Last month, we reported on the mind-boggling results of the Economist’s 2022 MBA ranking, along with some of its biggest surprises.

In fact, it was regarded as something of a disaster for an MBA ranking, the second in as many years. Perhaps it was the final straw.

The Economist magazine has informed business schools participating in its 2022 Which MBA? ranking that this year’s list will be the last. On September 30, 2022, the magazine will kill the website where the ranking is published.

Get the full details in our news tab, or check out an analysis by John Byrne in “An Obituary For The Economist’s Ranking.”

No. 3: MBAs, Working To Evacuate Afghanis, Aim To Keep America’s Promise To Allies

In this story, we talk with six MBAs from some of the top business schools, working to evacuate thousands of Afghanis and Iraqis to safety.

No One Left Behind is the leading non-profit that works to keep America’s promise to Iraqi and Afghani interpreters and others who aided in the War on Terror. After the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Afghanistan last August, the group has worked at lightning speed to professionalize the organization and step up to the incredible challenge at hand.

“A lot of veterans from a lot of business schools have worked with interpreters who are the primary beneficiaries of this program. Keeping our country’s moral obligation to them – as well as the pragmatic impacts it has on American foreign policy – I think is one of the defining issues for our generation of veterans,” one of the MBAs tells us.
