P&Q’s Must Reads: The World’s Best MBA Programs For Entrepreneurship In 2023

Hello everyone  –- Welcome back to Poets&Quants’ Must Reads, a quick, digestible recap of the top business school news, sponsored by CentreCourt, P&Q’s virtual admission events.

I’m your host, Kristy Bleizeffer, and I’ll be highlighting the most important P&Q stories you might have missed. So, let’s get to it.

No. 1: The World’s Best MBA Programs For Entrepreneurship In 2023

Poets&Quants has ranked the world’s best MBA programs for entrepreneurship for the last four years, and in each of those years, one school has placed first: the Olin Business School at Washington University in St. Louis.

Once again in our 2023 list, the Olin School comes out on top.

Following WashU is the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business and Spain’s Esade Business School.

You can see the full list, and read about the methodology used in creating our list, now, on our homepage.

No. 2: Five Years & $150 Million Later, What A Mega-Business School Gift Can Do

When Larry Gies came home from work to tell his wife, Beth, that he was thinking of making a $150 million donation to the College of Business at the University of Illinois, she was not merely surprised but shocked.

“Do we have that much money?,” asked Beth.

Five years later to the day of the $150 million announcement, the second-largest single gift to a business school in history, Gies returned to campus to celebrate all that their pledge has helped to make possible. The list of achievements for what became the Gies College of Business is extraordinary by any standard.

No. 3: ‘Russia Has No Chance Of Winning This War’: Zelenskyy Talks With Yale MBAs

On Friday (October 28), the Yale School of Management hosted a special live Q&A with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the school’s Zhang Auditorium. Via Zoom, Zelenskyy answered several direct questions of Yale MBA students and predicted, as he has done from the onset of the war, a Ukrainian victory. The event also featured comments from U.S. Senators Richard Blumenthal and Lindsey Graham, and questions from CNBC Senior White House Correspondent Kayla Tausche.

Poets&Quants was invited to sit in on the live, virtual event, and features extended excerpts from the 90-minute exchange, including a touching moment when a Ukrainian student got to talk to her president directly.

“I just wanted first to say how truly proud I am that such a president represents the Ukrainian people. (You are the) president we deserve, and I think you are the president who deserves to represent us,” the student said.
