What has been your first impression of the Marshall MBA students and alumni you’ve met so far. Tell us your best Marshall story so far. Team Oriented – Business school requires a lot of teamwork, but Marshall provides such a great structure for people to get to know each other well. The cohort is small, and it fosters strong relationship building opportunities. The Trojan network is developed on campus, but it extends way beyond graduation. My cold email response rate was 100% from trojan alums. This may be my anecdotal experience, but it showcased how strong the Trojan network is.

What makes Los Angeles such a great place to earn an MBA? The Diversity. I’ve lived in the East Coast for the past decade and coming to LA has been a great change for me. There’s so much diversity in LA – the culture, the food, the activities you can do on weekends, etc.

Aside from your classmates and location, what was the key part of USC Marshall’s MBA programming that led you to choose this business school and why was it so important to you? I have a strong interest in the media and entertainment industry and my post-MBA goal is to work in strategy consulting, focusing on the TMT industry. Marshall offers the Business of Entertainment graduate program together with USC School of Cinematic Arts (arguably the best in the world), and many classes are taught by industry professionals in Hollywood studios. For folks interested in media and entertainment, Marshall offers one of the best opportunities among all business schools.

What course, club or activity excites you the most at USC Marshall? Marshall Pride! As someone who worked in DE&I and LGBTQ+ advocacy prior to MBA, I am looking forward to continuing my passion in diversity and inclusion through Marshall Pride. It is also a great way to network and secure early job offering prior to MBA.

Describe your biggest accomplishment in your career so far: Unlike most of my classmates who are undecided about their post MBA career, I knew early on that I was interested in strategy consulting, and I was able to secure 2 strategy consulting internship offers prior to the start of the MBA program.

What is one thing you have recently read, watched, or listened to that you would highly recommend to prospective MBAs? Why? The Social Dilemma – It changed the way I think of social media. It also inspired me to pursue a career in the TMT industry.

What advice would you give to help potential applicants gain admission into USC Marshall’s MBA program? Be your authentic self. It is important to go to a program that “fits” you, and the best way to see if you are a true fit is by being yourself in the application process.
