Aside from your classmates and location, what was the key part of Chicago Booth’s MBA programming that led you to choose this business school and why was it so important to you? The flexible curriculum. At the point I was researching B-schools, one of the qualities of the Chicago Booth MBA I found quite interesting was the flexibility of the curriculum. The opportunity to design my courses to ensure they aligned with my career and personal goals was thrilling and exciting. It gave me a huge sense of responsibility because it simply means my MBA adventure lies solely with me and this makes me very intentional about my actions. In the long run, I will find myself taking courses that I consider very relevant to my growth and with the flexibility I can explore diverse opportunities.

What course, club or activity excites you the most at Chicago Booth, and why? The Management Consulting Group. It aligns with my future goal, as I intend to transition into Consulting. The interaction with the group will help me experience what it feels like to be in the industry, whilst also giving me a platform to achieve my career and personal goals.

What has been your first impression of the Booth MBA students and alumni you’ve met so far? Supportive. The Booth community has greatly influenced my journey so far. Everyone seems committed to helping me achieve my goal and they tend to support me in every way they can, including taking out some time to share insightful information and giving advice that will guide me through my MBA journey and beyond. I feel a sense of pride belonging to this supportive community and I look forward to living this legacy.

What makes Chicago such a great place to earn an MBA? I love to describe Chicago as a busy city filled with great opportunities, both in terms of social and academic lifestyle. Getting an MBA in Chicago will expose me to an adventure that will impact my growth.

Describe your biggest accomplishment in your career so far: I always aim to be the best at whatever I do and continually strive for continuous improvement. This has gotten me recognition at every stage of my academic and career path. In 2019, I was awarded a Client Service Hero Award for my outstanding performance. The award was a reflection point for me because it made me realize how much my work was being appreciated and it was also a call to action to keep being a value-driven individual wherever I find myself.

What led you to pursue an MBA at this point and what do you hope to do after graduation?

In the last 5 years of my career journey, I have only been exposed to the marketing function. As an individual who’s passionate about making a difference in the evolving business world, there’s a need to expand my knowledge beyond the tiers of marketing, hence the need to have a holistic business experience. An MBA will equip me with the required business knowledge. However, I obtained an MBA with (distinction) but I was looking for a globally relevant MBA to broaden my view. Post-graduation, I plan to transition into management consulting and in the long run, I intend to leverage my consulting experience to drive SME growth in Africa.
