P&Q’s Must Reads: 15 Top MBA Programs With The Highest ROI

Hello everyone — Welcome back to Poets&Quants’ Must Reads, a quick, digestible recap of the top business school news, sponsored by CentreCourt, P&Q’s virtual admission events.

I’m your host, Kristy Bleizeffer, and I’ll be highlighting the most important P&Q stories you might have missed. So, let’s get to it.

No. 1: 15 Top MBA Programs With The Highest ROI

In this article, Insider Monkey – the insider investing newsletter, looks at top MBA programs with the highest return on investment.

To develop its list, it used school rankings to develop a shortlist of 50 of the top universities in the U.S. and their full-time, two-year MBA programs. The newsletter then calculated the average cost of attendance from data provided by each school. To calculate each program’s return, it used the median base salary based on the latest available employment reports. Finally, using an expected increase in salary of 3% per year, it calculated each program’s return on investment during the first five years of employment. The top 15 institutes were chosen as the top MBA programs with the highest return on investment.

The results might surprise you. See which schools topped the list and where the M7 landed in the full story, which you can find in our trending tab.

No. 2: IMD Reinvents Its MBA For The AI Revolution

With the likelihood that machines may be smarter than people in as little as two decades, business schools all over the world are rethinking how to produce graduates that cannot be replaced by an algorithm.

With most professors still debating exactly what to do about the AI revolution, IMD in Lausanne, Switzerland, has devised an innovative answer. In a major redesign of its one-year MBA curriculum, IMD is betting that human skills not easily duplicated by machine intelligence is the best way to prepare students for the AI future.

The school’s reimagined MBA experience, to take effect when it enrolls its new MBA cohort in January, is one of the boldest changes yet.

P&Q editor John Byrne details IMD’s new MBA curriculum in this story, which you can find on our homepage.
