Designed for recent college graduates with non-business majors who are interested in management, the MiM is a 10-month program that equips students with the necessary skills to launch careers in a wide range of fields, including data analytics, investment management, marketing, banking, consulting, general management, entrepreneurship, and more. Taught by the world’s leading business school faculty, the program combines a core curriculum rooted in the fundamentals of business with electives that foster specialized skills. Here are four things you may not know about the program. Students Start the MiM Program with Boothcamp Boothcamp is a two-week introduction to the business school experience. Combining academic activities with professional development opportunities, the on-campus experience provides students with an overview of basic accounting, business, statistics, and economic terms and concepts, preparing students to hit the ground running once classes begin. Boothcamp also offers hands-on programming designed to help students define their career goals, get ready for the job search, and build skills in telling their stories, networking, writing cover letters, and interviewing. At the same time, students practice key interpersonal skills that will empower them to succeed as business students and as professionals. Booth’s MiM Program is Highly Customizable Following Boothcamp, students embark on a 10 course, multidisciplinary exploration of business, with the ability to select 50 percent of courses according to their interests. The curriculum begins with five cohorted core courses that establish a solid foundation in key areas such as business statistics, financial accounting, microeconomics, managerial decision modeling, and behavioral foundations of management. Students then choose four courses within our areas of specialization. With five areas of specialization, the program enables students to tailor their studies to meet their specific interests and career goals. Each specialization—analytics, entrepreneurship, finance, marketing, and strategic management—builds skills and experience in a unique area, supporting students in their long-term career path. MiM students tailor their studies even further by choosing an elective of their choice, which they take with Booth’s MBA students. With more than 100 course options—on topics such as negotiations, cost analysis and internal controls, operations management, application development, and more—Booth electives help students build specialized skills in a unique area of interest. Beyond the program’s curricular flexibility, students benefit from a cutting-edge business curriculum taught by world-class faculty who have helped shaped and transform the world of business. Ten Chicago Booth faculty members have won the Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences. Career Preparation Is Central to the Experience Chicago Booth prides itself on its exceptional approach to career advancement. From the first day of Boothcamp to graduation and beyond, the MiM Program incorporates professional development opportunities and career support at every step. Early in the program, students take the 10-week Succeeding in the Workplace course, which allows them to build on the career tools learned during Boothcamp through workshops and other sessions focused on three critical aspects of professional development: career exploration, job search strategy and skills, and self-awareness and interpersonal knowledge. In addition, MiM classes and cocurricular activities help students build a strong foundation in the professional skills that will advance their careers: communication, teamwork and adaptability, relationship building, research, and giving and receiving feedback. By the time they graduate, MiM students are prepared to launch powerful careers in everything from banking, consulting, and finance to data analytics, healthcare, investment management, and marketing. Graduates of the Program can Tap into a Worldwide Network of Support The Master in Management is a cohorted program, enabling students to form lifelong friendships and build a broad professional network. MiM students also benefit from the rich intellectual community of more than 10,000 graduate students in the broader UChicago setting. The second largest business market in the United States, Chicago is home to 35 Fortune 500 companies. Students can explore 200 diverse neighborhoods, miles of bike trails along Lake Michigan, and eight major league sports teams. Students also have instant access to Booth’s vibrant alumni network.
