Georgetown’s M.S. in Global Real Assets (MS-GRA) is a 10-month program that combines real estate, infrastructure, global finance, and sustainability—preparing you to lead in a rapidly evolving market and improve investment performance for organizations worldwide. Offered through Georgetown’s top-ranked business school, ranked 11th for real estate by U.S. News & World Report, and the Steers Center for Global Real Assets, the program features hands-on learning like underwriting live deals.

Students gain access to exclusive career opportunities through a new real estate search firm partnership, personalized coaching, and scholarships such as the Steers Scholars Program, an exclusive opportunity for exceptional applicants that will provide a 50% tuition scholarship and mentorship for Fall 2025 recipients. With a strong industry network and targeted support, you’ll graduate ready to make an immediate impact in real estate, private equity, infrastructure, and energy.

Top-Ranked Business School + Premier Real Estate Center

The MS-GRA is a unique collaboration between Georgetown’s McDonough School of Business and the Steers Center for Global Real Assets. This partnership gives students access to renowned business faculty and expert instructors as well as the Steers Center’s extensive network of influential leaders and global real estate companies. The program focuses on experiential learning, including a structured mentorship program to gain meaningful investment insights from industry experts, guest lectures, and networking events.

“One of the program’s most valuable assets is its network. The program is designed to facilitate connections among real estate professionals. Through our curriculum, which includes various clinics, I gained real-world experience and exposure to essential technical tools that equipped me with practical skills to succeed in my career in real estate.”

—Alexis Goihman (MS-GRA’24), Federal Realty Investment Trust

Program Outcomes and Skills

Prepare to excel in the rapidly changing real estate industry through an applied curriculum focused on real estate, infrastructure, and sustainability issues. You’ll complete a culminating global capstone project and travel abroad for experiential learning and networking opportunities. Upon graduation with your M.S. in Global Real Assets, you will possess a comprehensive foundation in business concepts, demonstrate expertise in the broader category of real assets, and be equipped to navigate the new and rapidly developing sustainability interface. You will be well-versed in themes such as asset evaluation, municipal finance, risk assessment, statistical methods, and sustainability management. You also will benefit from Georgetown McDonough’s strengths in preparing students to become ethical leaders with the ability to strategically analyze complex issues as they make critical decisions for the future of their organizations.

Career Services

Now more than ever, the industry needs professionals who understand the changing real estate and infrastructure landscape and have the skills to make a positive impact. Georgetown’s M.S. in Global Real Assets offers a cutting-edge experience that integrates concepts of real estate, infrastructure, global capital flows and finance, and sustainability. This strategic skill set uniquely equips MS-GRA students with a valuable perspective that makes them highly competitive in the job market.

Through our Steers Center for Global Real Assets, our vast alumni network in the industry, and our relationships with the world’s top employers, we know the real estate industry is shifting. The program’s curriculum and experiential coursework has been intentionally designed to prepare you for long-term career success.

The M.S. in Global Real Assets career team within the McDonough Career Center partners with each student on their career ambitions and helps you navigate the many paths within the growing real assets field. We support students in the process of self-discovery, career strategy, leadership development, and network-building to empower graduates to become principled, globally-minded leaders.

We also partner with a specialized real estate search firm to expand career opportunities for our MS-GRA students. With a focus on career opportunities and hands-on support, the firm works with the McDonough Career Center to deliver the following services and programming:

  • Access to employer networks tailored to student interests and career pathways
  • Real estate career fairs hosted by the McDonough Career Center to establish connections in the industry
  • Career workshops focused on technical interviewing skills, industry insights, compensation reviews, and networking strategies

Personalized Career Coaching

To ensure all M.S. in Global Real Assets students have a personalized experience preparing for their post-graduate career, the McDonough Career Center has an experienced career coach dedicated to working only with the small cohort of students in this program. The result is a close relationship with someone who knows you, knows your goals, and knows the industry who will help you navigate your internship and job search process.

Our personalized approach begins with an assessment of each student’s individual strengths, interests, and values. Through our career curriculum, including our signature summer job search course and one-on-one meetings, our experienced career coach works closely with our students to identify their unique skill set and map out a personalized career plan that fits their specific goals and aspirations.

Our offerings include a range of resources and tools to help our students prepare for their chosen career paths, including ongoing workshops, interview preparation and 1-on-1 coaching, and networking opportunities with industry leaders.

In addition to the McDonough Career Center, the Steers Center for Global Real Assets has cultivated relationships with numerous real estate leaders from among the global Georgetown University alumni base, as well as industry executives interested in working with our students. The result is a network of influential real estate professionals invested in your success.

While an internship is not required, the MS-GRA program’s two-day-a-week class schedule was designed so students interested in pursuing an internship can take advantage of Georgetown’s location in Washington, D.C., which is home to numerous real estate firms.

Industry Opportunities

The knowledge you’ll gain around finance, investment, and sustainability issues can be applied to in-demand jobs such as an investment analyst, an asset management analyst, and a real assets manager. With relevant, in-demand skills, you’ll stand out among applicants in the real estate industry and deliver on the expertise most sought after by employers. Potential careers include:
