P&Q: What types of support does your career center and alumni provide to MBA students? How have these services and relationships made your graduates more competitive in the marketplace?

Bern: “The Career Development team empowers Notre Dame MBA students to develop the skills and mindset required to navigate the marketplace and build a purposeful, lifelong career. Students start working with their assigned coach and industry club student leaders before they matriculate to discern which industry and function best align with their skills and interests, develop target company lists, prepare tailored resumes and cover letters, and craft compelling pitches. Once students arrive on campus, they participate in the Career Leadership Course, which is designed to help students become as interview-ready as possible by further refining their professional purpose and direction, deepening their industry knowledge, developing industry-relevant technical skills, increasing their emotional intelligence and situational awareness, and demonstrating their competence, collegiality, and ability to create value.

Our Career Development team also establishes and deepens relationships with employers in the consulting, finance, and technology space in order to create pathways into advisory, management, and tech consulting; investment banking, corporate finance, and alternative investments; and product and program management, tech marketing and sales, and tech operations and supply chain management.

Our Notre Dame alumni are essential partners. Our alumni support students at every stage of their career journey from career exploration and interview preparation to facilitating networking opportunities and providing lifelong professional connections. Our alumni generously give of their time and talent by sharing their industry knowledge and functional expertise; serving as mentors, mock interviewers, and partners in experiential learning; and championing the MBA program at their companies and across their professional networks.

Our MBA students are invited to join many of the world’s top employers in the consulting, finance, and technology sectors because our alumni want to ensure the Notre Dame brand is known and respected; our employer relations team builds and maintains corporate relationships; and our career coaches prepare our students to be confident, values-based leaders who positively contribute to their companies from day one.”
