For the third year in a row, Harvard Business School holds the top position, reinforcing its long reputation as a paragon of case teaching. INSEAD climbed into second place, overtaking India’s ICFAI Business School, which now sits third. Rounding out the top five are Switzerland’s International Institute for Management Development and Canada’s Ivey Business School. The Case Centre launched the Impact Index in 2023 as the first ranking to recognize the worldwide influence of case writing. Harvard has held the No. 1 position each year since the index began, with ICFAI and INSEAD consistently appearing in the top three. Last year’s list highlighted a similar mix of established case leaders and fast-rising contributors, with Harvard, ICFAI, and INSEAD making up the top three in 2024. The 2025 results confirm Harvard’s enduring reach while showcasing INSEAD’s upward movement. NEW ENTRANTS SHOW GLOBAL GROWTH The Case Centre, founded in 1973, is the independent home of the case method and a registered charity. It distributes the world’s largest collection of management case studies and provides training, competitions, and awards to advance case-based learning worldwide. The Impact Index, now in its third year, has become a benchmark for tracking the global diffusion of cases and their role in shaping business education. This year’s Impact Index also highlights a widening geographic footprint of case-writing excellence. New entrants include the Australia and New Zealand School of Government, debuting at No. 28, S.P. Jain Institute of Management & Research at No. 48, and Canada’s Conestoga College School of Business at No. 41. The National University of Singapore Business School rejoined the list at No. 45 after an absence, signaling renewed global adoption of its cases. “The Case Centre Impact Index continues to evidence the powerful influence of cases worldwide,” says Vicky Lester, chief executive officer of The Case Centre, in a news release. “It’s terrific to be highlighting the global impact of cases for a third year, with so many incredible contributions to business management education. Cases are receiving increasing recognition for their impact on student experience, learning outcomes, accreditation, and wider society. I am immensely proud of this contribution to demonstrating the worldwide reach of cases.” HOW THE IMPACT INDEX IS CALCULATED The methodology behind the ranking considers three dimensions of reach: the number of a school’s cases that are adopted, the breadth of adoption across organizations and countries, and the number of individual students taught with those cases. All organizations that published at least one case with The Case Centre during the preceding academic year are eligible. For 2025, more than 500 schools qualified, with the top 50 recognized in the index. Among the top ten, Harvard continues to lead, followed by INSEAD and ICFAI Business School. IMD takes fourth place, with Ivey in fifth. Stanford Graduate School of Business ranks sixth, while Amity Global Business School is seventh. The University of Virginia Darden School of Business is eighth, Copenhagen Business School is ninth, and MIT Sloan School of Management completes the top ten.
