Meet the MBA Class of 2027: Anna Muñoz Morales, Northwestern University (Kellogg) by: Jeff Schmitt on January 26, 2026 January 26, 2026 Copy Link Share on Facebook Share on Twitter Email Share on LinkedIn Share on WhatsApp Share on Reddit Anna Muñoz Morales Northwestern University, Kellogg School of Management “Curious, empathetic, and purpose-driven individual passionate about challenging assumptions and creating meaningful change.” Hometown: Born in Torreón, Coahuila, and I grew up in Indiana Fun Fact About Yourself: While on a gondola in Venice, I accidentally recorded a proposal happening above me on a bridge. Later that evening, I ran into the couple by chance and was able to send them the video. It turned out to be the only footage they had of the moment! Undergraduate School and Major: DePauw University, Neuroscience Most Recent Employer and Job Title: Resultant, Senior Consultant Aside from your classmates and location, what was the key part of Northwestern Kellogg’s MBA curriculum or programming that led you to choose this business school and why was it so important to you? My MBA research began with a simple Google search: “Business schools that offer social impact.” Kellogg immediately stood out for its Social Impact & Responsible Leadership Pathway and courses such as Ethics & Leadership, Operations for Social Impact and Impact Investing and Sustainable Finance. As a hands-on learner, I’m especially drawn to experiential opportunities like the Golub Capital Board Fellows, the Social Innovation Practicum, and the Healthcare Strategy Consulting Lab. What makes Kellogg stand out to me personally is how deeply social impact is integrated into its culture well beyond the classroom. The school’s commitment resonates with the type of leader I aspire to be. During my time at Kellogg, I’m excited to further develop the skills and mindset I’ll need to tackle complex global challenges. What makes Chicago such a great place to earn an MBA? After living in Washington, DC, I knew I wanted to move to a city with convenient public transit, a vibrant food scene, and plenty to do. Since moving to Chicago, I’ve already used the CTA more than my car, added dozens of must-try restaurants to my Beli app, and enjoyed free concerts at Millennium Park. Biking the Lakefront Trail at sunset always leaves me feeling grateful to live in such a beautiful city. I have loved the walkability of both Chicago and Evanston, especially the lakefront, and I’m excited for more walks, runs, and bike rides by the water. I also can’t wait to host friends and family and share all that the city has to offer. I feel lucky to have access to both Evanston and Chicago, and I plan to take full advantage of the free shuttle Kellogg offers into the city! Kellogg is known for a team-driven culture. What quality do you bring as a teammate and why will it be so important to the success of MBA class? Empathy! I genuinely enjoy building meaningful relationships and strive to understand those I collaborate with as people, not just as teammates. I believe practicing empathy allows people to better collaborate and achieve better, more impactful results. I also strive to extend empathy beyond the team, always considering the real people affected by business decisions. At Kellogg, I plan to foster a team environment grounded in trust, compassion, and thoughtful leadership. By encouraging others to lead with empathy, I believe we can create more inclusive, effective, and values-driven outcomes both in and beyond the classroom. What course, club or activity excites you the most at Northwestern Kellogg? As someone passionate about bridging the public and private sectors to drive systemic change, I’m excited to join Kellogg’s Business & Politics Club. Their mission aligns with my career goals, and I look forward to exploring how business leaders can influence policy in meaningful ways and create a positive impact in our communities. I am also drawn to Kellogg’s flexible curriculum and plan to take public policy courses through Northwestern’s School of Professional Studies to deepen my understanding of cross-sector collaboration. In addition to academic and professional interests, I’m eager to join the First-Generation Student Association so that I can support others as they navigate the application process and transition to campus life. I appreciate everyone who has been a part of my own journey to Kellogg, and I hope to offer the same guidance to others as well. I also hope to engage with the Impact Consulting Club, Social Impact Club, Data & Analytics Club, and the Hispanic Management Association, which all reflect my values and interests. What has been your first impression of the Kellogg MBA students and alumni you’ve met so far. Tell us your best Kellogg story so far. Before submitting my application, I had the chance to visit campus and connect with a current student who generously offered to show me around the Global Hub. As we walked through the building, I noticed how often she stopped to say hello to other students and faculty. It was a small but powerful glimpse into the warmth and connectivity of the Kellogg community. A few months later, during Day at Kellogg (DAK), every alum I heard from spoke about how the people made their Kellogg experience truly special. I left feeling energized by the school’s commitment to fostering humble, collaborative leaders and confident that this is the kind of community I want to be a part of. Describe your biggest accomplishment in your career so far: One of my proudest career accomplishments was mentoring an early career consultant during her transition into her first job after college. I helped her identify her strengths and build confidence in client interactions. We worked together on setting goals, preparing for performance reviews, and staying grounded in her values. Seeing her grow into a more confident, self-advocating professional was incredibly rewarding. That experience helped solidify my commitment to growing into a leader who uplifts others by listening, offering encouragement, and opening doors for them. Looking ahead two years, what would make your MBA experience successful? Two years from now, I’ll consider my MBA experience successful if I’ve grown both personally and professionally—and if I’ve helped others do the same. I’m especially committed to supporting underrepresented prospective students as they navigate the application process and pursue their dreams. If I can play a role in helping them gain admission to their program of choice, I’ll view that as one of my most meaningful successes at Kellogg. What advice would you give to help potential applicants gain admission into Northwestern Kellogg’s MBA program? My advice is to spend time reflecting on what’s truly driving you to pursue an MBA. Identifying my most authentic “why” grounded me throughout the process and gave me confidence when writing essays and preparing for interviews. Once you’re excited about your “why,” talk to current students to better understand the opportunities and culture at Kellogg. For me, culture fit really mattered. What I read online resonated, but it wasn’t until I met students and attended DAK that I fully realized how special the Kellogg community is. Most importantly, be yourself at every step. Your personal story, your “why”, and your personality is exactly what will make you stand out. © Copyright 2026 Poets & Quants. All rights reserved.
