Aside from your classmates, what was the key part of IIM Ahmedabad’s MBA programming that led you to choose this business school and why was it so important to you? For me, apart from my classmates, it was the unparalleled legacy of IIM Ahmedabad, a legacy not just of academic excellence but of shaping and forging leaders who drive change across industries, sectors, and even nations. Coming from the armed forces, I understand the weight of legacy, not just as a symbol of the past, but as a standard for the future. The IIM A’s legacy is strengthened by its world-class faculty, academic rigor, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. IIM A’s legacy carries the reputation built on substance, integrit y, and consistent impact. Choosing IIM A wasn’t just about earning a degree; it was about stepping into a tradition of trust, transformation, and timeless relevance.

What has been your favorite course or extracurricular activity at IIM Ahmedabad? What has been the most important lesson that you have learned from it?My favourite course at IIM Ahmedabad has been Microeconomics. Coming from a completely different background, I had never truly understood how markets work, what drives them, how they respond, and why they behave the way they do. This course was eye-opening. It took me from the basics of supply and demand to the intricacies of pricing power, elasticity, and market dynamics, all delivered in a way that was deeply immersive and intellectually stimulating.

But beyond the frameworks and graphs, the most powerful lesson it taught me was simple, yet profound:

Always ignore sunk costs. Never ignore opportunity costs.

That mindset shift changed how I evaluate choices, not just in business decisions, but in life. It reminded me that letting go of what’s already gone and focusing on what truly matters next is a principle that applies everywhere.

What makes Ahmedabad such a great place to earn an MBA? Ahmedabad isn’t just a city; it’s a mindset. Being in the heart of Gujarat, a state known for its entrepreneurial spirit, business truly feels like a second language here. Even the local tea vendor casually drops terms like “margins” and “inventory”! There’s something about the air: it breathes ambition, and every conversation echoes opportunity. For someone pivoting into business, it’s an environment that constantly inspires and sharpens your thinking.

And on a more personal note, I’m a proud foodie. One of the unexpected joys of living here has been Ahmedabad’s buzzing late-night food scene. It’s a place where both your mind and your appetite stay happily fed.

Describe your biggest accomplishment in your career so far: My most meaningful accomplishment came during a one-year international assignment as Senior Technical Advisor to the Indian Embassy in the Maldives. Stepping into a foreign country with limited infrastructure and stretched resources, I was tasked with managing over $50 million in critical aviation assets, but what I didn’t expect was the depth of impact this role would have on both professional and personal levels.

We were often racing against time in life-or-death situations, yet through predictive maintenance, last-mile policy reforms and real-time inventory tracking, we achieved 91% asset utilization, cut lead times by 40%, and directly contributed to saving over 100 lives. I worked with teams from the Maldives, India, the US, and the UK, navigating not just logistics and operations, but also language, culture, and trust.

What made this role special was the opportunity to go beyond the technical—to strengthen bilateral relations, foster local resilience, and inject $30 million into the Maldivian economy by enabling local partnerships. The moment I received commendations from both the High Commissioner of India and the Director of the Maldives National Defence Force, I realized that more than the systems, it was about the people, the cooperation, and the lives impacted.

Describe your biggest accomplishment as an MBA student so far: While it’s tempting to point to a single moment, my biggest accomplishment as an MBA student at IIM Ahmedabad has been the journey, which has been one of transformation, connection, and constant learning.

From walking in as strangers to building deep, meaningful bonds with 156 exceptional individuals, I’ve found not just classmates, but a chosen family. Every conversation, every debate, every late-night discussion has shaped me, not just into a better professional, but a better person.

At IIMA, each day feels bigger than the last, richer in learning, insight, and perspective. Whether it’s through faculty who challenge your thinking, peers who broaden your worldview, or simply the energy that fills this campus, growth here isn’t occasional. It’s relentless and all-encompassing. That, to me, is the true accomplishment.

What is your class’s favorite hangout away from school? Why do you gather there? Our favourite escape from the MBA chaos is the Sabarmati riverfront. The calm waters and cool breeze offer a much-needed pause away from deadlines and discussions. It’s where we open up about life beyond resumes, share personal stories, and connect as individuals – not just classmates. In those quiet moments, we find perspective, friendship, and a sense of peace that recharges us for everything IIM A throws our way.

What do you hope to do after graduation? After graduation, I hope to take on a role where I can create meaningful impact across organizations, communities, and the broader ecosystem. I’m drawn to operations or strategy consulting, where I can help businesses navigate complexity, improve efficiency, and grow sustainably.

My decade in the Indian Navy taught me the importance of discipline, execution, and, most importantly, the principle of “Service Before Self.” It’s a mindset I carry with me that guides how I lead and contribute.

IIM Ahmedabad has added immense value to this journey. The case-based learning, diverse peer group, and constant exposure to real-world problem-solving have sharpened my thinking and broadened my perspective.

For me, consulting isn’t just about solving problems; it’s about building systems that are resilient, inclusive, and people-centric. I want every engagement to reflect that same spirit of service, purpose, and meaningful contribution.

What advice would you give to help potential applicants gain admission into IIM Ahmedabad? To anyone still debating whether to apply or wondering, “Can I really make it?”, my honest advice is: Just do it.

IIM Ahmedabad isn’t looking for perfection; it’s looking for authenticity. Yes, the GMAT matters, but what matters even more is your story: what drives you, what you’ve overcome, and where you want to go. Take the time to deeply reflect on your journey and craft a narrative that is true to who you are. Your uniqueness is your strength, so don’t be afraid to show how your background and experiences will add value to the classroom.

Prepare seriously, not just for the GMAT, but for your essays, interviews, and, most importantly, your post-MBA goals. These should reflect your aspirations, your values, and a thoughtful understanding of how IIM A fits into your larger life story.

There’s no substitute for hard work. And by hard work, I mean the grind of self-discovery, the hours spent preparing, and the courage to put yourself out there.

Remember: “The more you sweat in peace, the less you bleed in war.”

If you’re ready to grow, to be challenged, and to transform not just as a professional, but as a person, BELIEVE ME: there’s no better place to do it than at IIM Ahmedabad.
