Most MBA admissions firms start with your schools. We start with you.
Before we touch a single prompt, we help you answer the questions most consultants skip entirely: Who are you, really? What kind of leader do you become when no one’s watching? What does the life you actually want look like — not the one that looks good on LinkedIn?
That’s the blank page we start from. And it changes everything that comes after.
The best MBA application isn’t the most polished one. It’s the one that makes an admissions committee feel like they’ve genuinely met someone. That requires self-knowledge first —we call this process YouDiscovery™. It’s where every engagement begins. Then we help build the storytelling skills to translate it into essays, goal statements, and a resume adcoms wants to sponsor.
We help you figure out who you are. Then we help you figure out where to go.
Our Career Gameplan™ process — rooted in nearly two decades of career coaching — helps you get specific about the pivot you’re actually trying to make. New industry, function, geography, leadership role, or the “my path makes no sense on paper but I know I’m meant for more” kind. Your goals won’t just check the employability box. They’ll lay out a path you genuinely want to follow from here.
Then, we build your school portfolio around that vision. Not around rankings. Around fit — which schools are genuinely wired for your pivot, and which combination of reaches, matches, and safeties gives you the best shot at a strong admit and real scholarship money.
These three core differentiators: You Discovery™, Career Gameplanning™, and dynamic school portfolio strategy are what set our services apart and yield the results we meticulously track: $109,000 average scholarship per admitted client over the last three years and 99.1% of clients who follow our complete school portfolio guidance earn at least one top MBA admit.
We work with a deliberately small number of clients each year — so your coach knows your story, your goals, and what keeps you up at night before a deadline. The coaching is warm, direct, and occasionally irreverent. Our clients are consistently surprised by how much they enjoy the work.
We’re also the only MBA admissions firm that offers both a 7-day money-back guarantee and an MBA Success Guarantee on every package.
Founded by Angela Guido — Chicago Booth MBA, former BCG consultant — MBA Protocol has spent nearly 20 years helping aspiring MBAs build careers with more purpose, more impact, and more real human connection.
If you’re ready to discover who you are and who you want to become, we’re ready to help you find out — and build something extraordinary from what we find.
Full coach partnership on You Discovery™, Career Gameplanning™, school selection, unlimited essay drafts, and more. Different service levels beyond that available.
Deadline sprint community for the final 8 weeks before Round 1 and Round 2.
Post-admit career coaching to help you land the job that made the MBA worth it.
I worked with Angela Guido at Career Protocol and it was without a doubt the best decision I could make for this very demanding process of application.
My process of application had to get off to a quick start because I started the application process late in the game and I did not have the option to postpone my MBA to the 2023-2025 program. Because of the short amount of time, I had to apply, prepare the applications, and prepare the standardized tests; I was looking for an advisor that would give me the work cut up and ready to eat. This was the idea until I had a one-on-one call with Angela from Career Protocol and I reviewed the internet page. I realized that working with Angela was going to be a hands-on experience and that she was only going to be my guide. Of course, it turned out to be a lot more work but it was completely worth it, I developed skills I wouldn’t have any other way.
The Career Protocol approach to the application process is through a very explicit online platform with videos and seminars that teach you how to be a good storyteller, as well as one on one videoconferences with your advisor where they guide you to find the best way to tell your unique story. The online platform has different modules (each module contains different activities, videos, and articles) that go from resources on universities, clubs, interview preparation, essay preparation, etc. but without the doubt, the most valuable resources are on storytelling.
Storytelling is an ability that has helped me in everyday activities, from getting to know people and telling them my life story to presenting projects to investors in the Real Estate Development company where I currently work. I say this from current experience, there is a method, and Career Protocol has done a lot of study behind good storytelling. I was used to presenting projects and stories in the way they were structured in my head. But, developing the ability to tell stories properly showed me there is an order of events, a timeline, a proper length, and other factors that I must consider in order for people to perceive what I really want them to perceive, for them to remain interested and convinced and most importantly, for them to trust me.
Having said the above I want to conclude that if I had gone with someone that would have chopped up all the work and given it to me ready to eat, I would have finished without doing a lot of work myself but I would not have had as much fun and learned as many valuable lessons about myself and abilities that I will carry through all my professional and personal life.
Working with Angela at Career Protocol was wonderful but I would like to share a specific situation and the main reason why I am submitting this recommendation as I said before I only had a couple of months to prepare my application and prepare my GRE test (which I had never taken) and I was only applying to only the best programs in the world. Everything was going great and suddenly I started feeling overwhelmed because of the time and I sent a panic attack email to Angela. She answered the email saying that if it was necessary, she wouldn’t sleep, but that I would end up with killer applications (of course done entirely by me). Career Protocol made me feel safe and confident about my applications.
I believe it is also important to share that I had a very low GRE and still got accepted to a Top Program.
Honestly, I sought Angela’s help because I knew I didn’t know a whole lot about B-School applications, coming from a career in the Navy. I knew I needed help because I didn’t know where to start. I found Angela through MBAmo, and boy, did she turn my preconceived notions upside down! I reached out to other consultants, and they literally wanted to know only numbers before they would even agree to work with me, and many told me they would not help me with an M7 with my stats. Angela asked me one thing: do you want to make the world a better place? And she only promised me one thing: I am going to help you figure out how to tell your story. She didn’t promise me the answers, or tell me what to write that would get me in; she simply told me that she would help me do some discernment to distill my story and then apply it to the difference I want to make in the world. Turns out, that helped me in more ways than one. Not only was I eventually admitted to Stanford GSB, but I came out of the process much more confident in myself and who I am. While transitioning out of the Navy, I was full of doubts about if I was even making the right decision to leave for business school. Angela’s process was almost like therapy to help me gain that confidence back and use it to define the impact I want to have on the world. The cherry on top is that I am heading to my number one choice school, Stanford GSB, to continue this journey!
Angela is one of the most inspiring people I have ever met.
The first time I joined one of her webinars was during the MBA Launch program of the Forte Foundation. Everything she told us immediately resonated with me. Her way of speaking to us and telling her story was unique; I could feel her passion for her job and her genuine care for us, future MBA students. After each webinar, I always felt invincible, full of positivity, inspired… ready to rock that MBA application process! So, when I realized I needed the help of a consultant, I did not have any doubt!
While working on my resume and essays with Brian at Career Protocol, I also was trying to figure out what I wanted to do post-MBA. Coming from a non-traditional background, I felt lost in the thousand opportunities. At that moment, Angela’s help was like a ray of sunshine on a cloudy day. In a short meeting, after listening to my ideas and concerns and looking at the results of my MBTI test, she told me what would bring me joy in the workplace and which path to take to get there. Of course, I had to research and dive deeper on my own; however, everything she told me resonated with me and gave me tremendous help to narrow and define my career path.
Even right now that I am getting ready to start one of the top 10 MBA programs in the country, when I feel lost, I still often refer to that conversation with Angela. Thanks to her, I know what is important to me, which helps me stay on track and focused on my goals. I feel lucky and grateful for the precious tips she gave me, and I am sure I will go back to them during my entire career.
Louise is one of the most decent and empathetic human beings that I have encountered. She brought out the best version of myself. I can proudly say that I have unlearned, relearned, and am still learning the act and power of storytelling.
Before signing up with Career Protocol, I promised myself that I was going to have fun during my MBA journey. Meeting Louise was the highlight. She made that dream come true. Not only did she become my MBA problem solver (recommending GMAT/GRE tutors), she became a trusted friend. She went through my essays like an admission committee would and made genuine comments… Oh, and if a paragraph does not make sense, she will smell it a mile away!
One thing Louise could not do was letting me fail. I had so many challenges while working on my MBA application, but she never let me dwell in my failures or my past. I couldn’t ask for a better MBA therapist. I will never forget how she provided me with additional service worth thousands of dollars for free when I needed it.
After working with Louise, I could not be prouder of the way I present myself during interviews and semi-formal settings.
I took the Interview Hero course from Career Protocol and that is when I met Jenn. I was paired with her for my interview prep.
Jenn is a caring, honest, and encouraging person and she really helped me streamline my responses. She has deep knowledge about the various MBA programs and what sets them apart. Therefore, she is great when it comes to polishing answers to WHY a particular school and WHY MBA. She is also authentic and will tell you which parts of your story to keep and which to leave out (honestly, that turns out to be the most important thing when presenting your journey to adcom). Jenn completely transformed my approach to admissions in general.
I absolutely loved the interview package as well. It helped me dig deeper and gave me the confidence to share my story in an impactful and succinct manner. I especially like the fact that I can download the audio and materials, and I can access the package for a full year. I will definitely be using it to nail my job interviews once I get into business school.
Overall, the best part of the interview package was being able to connect with Jenn. I feel like I found a friend and a mentor and our one-on-one prep over Zoom helped me in my daily work as a Consultant and Trainer as well. I’ve been using my stories in my motivational talks now and I feel like I am able to derive more value from my own experiences. It’s really awesome!!!
Angela is an absolute STAR and I could not recommend her more!
After working with her to prepare my MBA applications, I got into 4 of the top MBA programs in the world and accepted an offer from Wharton with a 120K scholarship.
Angela is a special type of MBA consultant because she really takes the time to get to know you as an individual, what you’ve been through, what you’re passionate about, and what sets you apart from other candidates. I was astonished at how perceptive she was and how she was able to get to know me better than some of my closest friends and sometimes even better than I knew myself. She then uses that knowledge to help you mold your applications to fit each school, all while remaining true to the essence of who you are. I know I would have never gotten into the schools I did without her help but I’m also proud to say that my applications always remained 100% authentic to me.
I would recommend Angela without hesitation to anyone looking for MBA or career counseling services (I’ve actually already recommended her for career counseling to three of my friends and they too have only good things to say about her. She even helped one of my best friends get her dream promotion).
Also, if you’re concerned about the price tag, please keep in mind that working with Angela will put you in a better position to get scholarships which often will be for a value way more than what you pay Angela. I went with her 3+3 school package and the scholarship I received was for 8 times what I paid Angela! Needless to say, the ROI was beyond worth it.
After a very rough application process with another firm, I landed interviews with Wharton and Harvard but I really did not know how to tackle them.
After reading her book, I sought her help with interview preparation. She not only gave me the tools for a successful interview but also reviewed my entire application and helped me find out how to deal with gaps that could eventually show up during the interviews. Also, she went through the entire discovery process in order to make a very good assessment of my experience and give me assertive feedback during our mock interviews (which, by the way, are very similar to the real thing)
Unfortunately, besides feeling that I had good interviews, I did not pass. I believe I had some gaps in my application (Angela made me aware of them) that might have cost me my seat. That’s why I have decided to reapply this year with her help throughout the entire process.
Even if you do not think you need career advice or coaching, you do need Angela! Like a real-life fairy godmother, Angela is invested in your growth, she is generous with her time and her insights, and will go above and beyond to prepare you for future success – the type of success that feels good humanly, not just economically. If you watched any of the Career Protocol YouTube videos, you have met Angela and experienced her straight-forward, no nonsense style. In one-to-one career sessions, Angela will share anything and everything in the same no-fuss way to help you think through any career query that may cross your mind (from finding your purpose to which job to pick next).
I worked with Angela for career coaching while applying to business school. Angela helped me think through my career choices and aspirations through the lens of my personality (for which we used the MBTI test too), and I found our sessions incredibly enlightening. No matter your career query, Angela will prepare you to pursue the right path and reach higher while heightening your self-awareness and confidence. THANK YOU, Angela!!
When I started my MBA process, I was overwhelmed, and lost, and had 5 months total before the Round 2 deadline. I knew my dream schools were GSB, HBS, and Wharton. I had no idea how to approach the GRE, who to ask for rec letters, or what my essays should look like.
Fast forward a few months, I had three admit letters in hand from all of my top schools.
What happened in the middle? A lot of things. But the single most important decision I made was to work with Angela.
After our first call, I knew I wanted to work with her. I was originally very skeptical about working with an MBA consultant. But she knew the MBA landscape in and out, was immediately candid about my prospects, and exactly what I needed to get done by which dates to give me the best chances at going to business school. And beyond all of this, she was friendly and great to talk to, and a fantastic sounding board for all the questions I had.
We worked through so much together, but my biggest take away was surprisingly not the application that I turned in (and was proud of!). It was understanding my own career trajectory. As we talked through my goals and objectives to write about and speak about in the interviews, I also started to unearth components of my professional and personal life that I’d never really considered and held to the light.
Another thing to note was Angela’s deep understanding of MBA applications. I had read dozens of books on MBA applications and thought I understood best practices. But Angela challenged me on many of these generic assumptions. I followed her advice, though it was sometimes hard to work against what I saw in every public essay, forum, and article online. This paid off: two of the schools I was admitted to speaking specifically about how unique my essays were.
We all have unique journeys and unique futures ahead of us. But if you’re looking to show the best and most authentically compelling version of yourself to admissions committees, my only advice is to consider working with Angela and the Career Protocol team.
Jackie is a wonderful person and over the months we worked together, she was my coach, mentor, instructor, editor, and friend. Jackie made my MBA dreams come true and helped me gain the confidence to be vulnerable and tell my story.
Just some background on me: I am the first college graduate in a blue-collar family in an Eastern European country. I had an offer to start a Master’s program after my Bachelor’s, planning to pursue a career in finance after studying. But instead of enrolling into the Master’s program, I decided to move back home to help my family through a tough time. I found a way into finance eventually, but I switched jobs several times although neither of the firms I worked at are household names.
I came across Career Protocol while researching business school application tips. The MBA program I wanted to attend was (unsurprisingly) a Moonshot as confirmed by the multiple MBAmo quizzes. I attended a few free Clubhouse meets during which the team gave practical and tailored advice in the Career Protocol signature candid, empathetic way. Those sessions helped me decide to work with Career Protocol because I wanted to approach the MBA application process in a professional way. I also wanted to work with someone who cared.
I connected with Jackie immediately and across the process, she was much more to me than a consultant. The onboarding process with Career Protocol started with a written exercise which I found cathartic. Nevertheless, when it came to drafting essays, I found it difficult to be vulnerable and share some of the distressing details. With Jackie’s guidance and support, I grew comfortable putting my story front and center. Ultimately, through this humbling process, I gained confidence that my story (like everyone else’s) holds power. There is no doubt in my mind I would have ever achieved this or I would have ever landed my top MBA choice (that’s right, I landed the Moonshot!) without Jackie and Career Protocol. The investment was high, but the payoff came soon and in many forms. And I am sure I will continue reaping benefits from the Career Protocol approach going forward in my career. If my story resonates with you or if you are applying to business school, period, do your future self a favour and work with Jackie!
I’m so grateful to have worked with Jackie during this application cycle– she was a patient guide/mentor, stellar hype-woman, and supportive friend throughout every step of the application process.
After deciding I wanted to work with a consulting firm, I spoke with four companies. Career Protocol was the one company that I felt shared my values, gave me legitimate advice and realistic perspectives during the initial call, and was committed to helping me succeed– it felt like an ideal match. Jackie in particular stood out to me for having pursued a path (Kellogg, BCG consulting, a focus on human capital work) that was strongly aligned with my aspirations. Jackie got me from the start and as a result, was able to help me properly articulate my story by extracting insights that represented my values and unique decisions. She gently challenged me when she felt like my writing wasn’t conveying what I intended or what was true to me. I knew essay iterations and support would be part of our package, but I was blown away by the care Jackie put into helping me tell my authentic story down to the last detail.
I was most surprised by how critical Jackie was in helping me revamp my resume and prepare for interviews, something I naively thought I could do on my own. I’ve never found selling myself or highlighting my accomplishments and strengths to be easy, and Jackie was quick to point out instances in which I undersold myself or missed a professional highlight. She helped me transform my resume from a series of bland responsibility-driven bullet points to engaging and quantified statements enumerating my accomplishments over the years. Jackie went above and beyond when it came to supporting me– she was always just an email away and made herself available to talk me through my near mental breakdowns, review interview thank you emails, provide feedback on my optional essay, and talk through school choices/scholarship offers. She even offered to hop on a call in preparation for school visits to identify the things I should evaluate and helpful questions to ask! Said another way, she offered support I didn’t even know I needed 🙂
With Jackie’s wisdom, I learned a lot over the past few months about trusting myself and remaining flexible in my decision making, as this process has a way of evolving and presenting unexpected choices. Jackie consistently helped me to see my worth and reminded me not to let my imposter syndrome limit my choices. Her reminders of how smart, capable, and unique I am always seemed to come when I felt overwhelmed or questioned why the heck I was applying for business school in the first place.
In the end, I was admitted to all 7 schools I applied to with a scholarship to each, including a full ride despite my mediocre test score. Ultimately, I accepted an offer to attend my dream school (an M7) with a 60% scholarship– an outcome Jackie held as possible for me when I couldn’t imagine it for myself. Thank you, Jackie! <333
I would say I am a very picky person. But I am soooooooo grateful to got the chance to work with Angela through my MBA application journey.
I will start with the initial consultation I had with her. During the first consultation, she didn’t give me a feeling of selling business at all. She very objectively assessed my candidacy, pointed out my strength and weakness, encouraged me to get a higher score, and suggested I apply in Round 2 instead of rushing it in Round 1. She even referred me to a GMAT tutor to do a consultation to help with my GMAT study. After I took another GMAT test, she happily did another consultation with me, even though I hadn’t signed up with her yet. She was quite honest with me the entire time, and beyond that, she encouraged me to aim high. After the two consultations, I signed up with her.
The next thing I was impressed with was the structured system she had to guide me through the entire process. The client portal is very well-designed and has a lot of videos, articles, and instructions that guided me from the beginning of developing my personal stories to scholarship negotiation and choosing offers. She even has an entire class for job hunting after being admitted. Based on the detailed instructions, I was able to complete a very long questionnaire as the story bank and basepoint, which proved very helpful throughout the entire application journey. Before the kick-off call with Angela, she read through my 50+ pages long answers to the questionnaire very carefully, and was able to put together a 20+ page slide that summarized my life story and the game plan for the entire MBA application. She is so experienced, as such, she had a very clear customized strategy for me and a clear picture of the orders of the schools to apply to first, and also the outline of each essay.
During the essay revision process, her comments always pointed to the right point and got me to think harder, and get the better essays out. Sometimes, even if I was pretty satisfied with the essay, she really pushed me to the limit. Besides that, I left a lot of questions and comments in each draft, and she was always able to answer them. Her abundance of knowledge of each school helped me add more color to my essays. Also, she didn’t sugarcoat anything and always used her expertise to warn me about something less valuable to include in the essay. She gave me very detailed guidance with contacting my recommenders and really helped a lot as well.
Another thing I wanted to talk about is the interview prep. After taking her entire interview prep class on the portal, and doing mock interviews with her. I found myself not only ready for MBA interviews, and also equipped to prepare for future interviews for jobs. The method and the ability to discover my stories and present them in a very organized way is super valuable for the rest of my career.
Other than helping me with my MBA application, she really went above and beyond. Besides thousands of other things, the thing I am grateful for the most is that she gave me career and life advice as well. She noted that I had some problems with my working style and my thinking process, but she wanted the best for me and pointed that out. She even made suggestions about books that I could read and other ways to overcome those problems. I am super grateful that she told me that, I believe it is a life lesson for me.
All in all, I would strongly recommend Angela. She is a really great coach! Thanks to her, I was admitted to Booth, my dream school! Not only did I have a great result from my MBA application, but I also felt I leanred several very important life lessons from her!
I went with Career Protocol because after hearing Angela speak on the Forte webinar I really liked that their approach goes beyond just applying to schools. Career Protocol helps you through the Pre-MBA process as well with their YOMO program. Career Protocol has an emphasis on being your authentic self which is something I thought was unique in comparison to other MBA consulting practices.
I applied to MBA programs unsuccessfully last year and doing the ding review with Jackie Laine from Career Protocol was the first step in helping me think about how to do the application right. After my session, I realized that I could include a lot more about myself in my applications and be authentic versus telling a story that I think adcoms would want to hear.
What I appreciated the most from working with Jackie was having her help me connect the dots of my career story. I had a very personal story about my interests in the consumer space and tying it to my long term goals was something that I struggled with the first time around. Jackie worked with me to brainstorm stories and talk through what I was thinking in order to craft a compelling story that made sense and was authentic to my interests. Through the process, I pushed myself to write the essays and even ended up switching topics a couple of weeks before the deadline with the advice of Jackie which ultimately helped me showcase a strong work story as well as a very personal story.
For those starting the process, my biggest advice is to start early and if the GMAT is holding you back, switch to the GRE, I wish I did so earlier in the process. My other piece of advice is to work with Jackie, it was worth all of the time invested, she really goes above and beyond and will give you the feedback you need to really improve. Thanks to her I will be attending my dream school, Kellogg this fall!!
I am an Asian male international applicant who went to college in the US and is currently working in the US on a work visa. I did my undergrad in Engineering but pivoted to management consulting after finishing school. After staying in management consulting for around 3 years, I made a transition into Business Operations at a growth stage healthcare tech start-up. I applied for MBA with 5 years of working experience because after seeing both sides of strategy and operations at both fortune 500 companies and startups, I wanted to gain additional experience around entrepreneurship and pivot into Product Management. I am interested in the digital health space and am looking to meet people with similar passions at business school.
In terms of application outcomes and stats, I had a 750 GMAT and a high 3.9 GPA, and I received admission to HBS from round 1 applications.
I worked with Angela to conduct a mock interview ahead of my HBS interview. I would highly recommend working with Angela for HBS mock interview as she is very knowledgeable about the process and gives you candid feedback on how you can improve and succeed in the actual interview. In the one-hour session, Angela started off role playing the interviewer who is strict and direct to the point with her questions to mimic a “tough” interviewer experience. It certainly put me to the test and immediately exposed a few of my underprepared areas. She took detailed notes during the mock interview, literally down to the minutes I spent on each question, to then give me a comprehensive review of my performance. She pointed out a few key areas of improvement and shared a few tips that I found super helpful. After the debrief, I felt much more comfortable facing the real HBS interview. The techniques Angela gave came in handy during the actual interview and I felt confident after the interview that I had presented myself in the best way possible.
Louise is hands down one of the most creative and joyful individuals I have met. When I first started the process, I was so overwhelmed and unsure of the process. Louise helped me to solidify my profile by patiently understanding and listening to my stories, and most importantly, she had the ability to uncover a number of unique stories that I never thought were even important. She is a master storyteller! Her creativity and personalized care gave me so much confidence about the application process. Whenever I have any questions, she was always there for me and helped me to brainstorm and strategize. I love that not only she was always excited to learn about my stories and experiences, but also she would push and challenge me to achieve the best results. I am forever grateful for Career Protocol and Louise’s storytelling abilities.
Aziz’s help was particularly important to me. When I got rejected from all my round 1 MBA applications (with another consultant), I thought I would never make it to a top business school. When I started working with Aziz in round 2 the results were above expectations. With a surprising come back I was admitted to two M7 and top European business schools. Aziz goes the extra mile in every aspect of the application process. He not only helped me build my story and goals but also pushed me to find meaning and purpose in them.
Jackie was incredible. I had applied the previous year and was not accepted to my top schools so was looking for a consultant that could help me get over the hump. A colleague recommended Career Protocol and after speaking with them and others, it was clear CP had the most personalized package with an extremely impressive track record.
The area in which I needed the most help was storytelling and through a structured discovery period and countless ad-hoc conversations, Jackie was able to draw out my passions and principles to put them into an essay. Through this, and continued guidance on my resume, application forms, and later interview prep, I was accepted to Harvard! None of this would have been possible without Jackie.
I would highly recommend anyone, particularly those that may feel like they struggle to turn their thoughts into words, to work with Jackie.
Coming from an unconventional personal and professional background and carrying an embarrassing test score, I had little concept of just how deeply challenging the MBA application process would be or how I would successfully navigate it. In our sessions together, Brian’s wizard-like wisdom, calm, and love of a good story helped me to focus my energy where it mattered most, and his thoughtful promptings at the right times helped me to better understand my identity and experiences, get clear on my career goals, and think bigger about the impact I really wanted to make. Had I not taken the plunge and moved beyond resources scattered elsewhere, I know I wouldn’t have emerged from this process as my best self. Today, I am expecting an offer from my dream school!
I had initially not planned to work with a consultant, but as R1 approached, I quickly felt overwhelmed with all of the conflicting guidance on the internet and knew that I needed a cheerleader to help me get through the process.
Brian was incredible to work with and exceeded all of my expectations! He is one of the most positive and energetic people I’ve worked with, and truly made my application experience as positive and stress free as it could be. My favorite part of the experience was the guided reflection, where Brian helped me connect my stories to my values, which served as the foundation for my essays and applications. Brian’s prompts were thoughtful and thought provoking and helped me learn more about myself and write my story.
In the end, I received 6 interview invitations, 1 waitlist and 3 admits, including top 10 schools and my top choice!
If you’re looking for a genuine, energetic, and expert consultant, Brian is your guy! I couldn’t have made it through the process without him.
From the outset of the application process, I was extremely unsure of my chances of getting into any program, let alone my dream program, and felt overwhelmed with the process as a whole. I started working with Aziz in hopes of applying to Round 1. Life and work got in the way and I eventually submitted all 9 applications in Round 2. Aziz was instrumental in helping me express my authentic self to admission committees and in guiding me in crafting stories that highlighted my values and experiences that made me a unique candidate. His working style is highly conducive to the rigor of the MBA application process and he is able to concisely identify and convey ideas that are hiding in the text of your essays that are ready to shine through. Ultimately, I got into my dream program with a significant scholarship.
I didn’t start working with Jenn until the interview stage of the application process, but I wish I had been working with her from the start! Jenn immediately treated me as if I was her most important client. She went above and beyond the value of the package I purchased and helped me prepare and practice for my interviews until I felt comfortable going into each one with confidence. All of my interviews went very well, which I fully attribute to working with Jenn. She is an empathetic listener and made sure I presented my story and goals in a concise and compelling way while always staying true to my authentic self. Jenn truly cares about her clients’ success and makes sure to follow up on every part of the process. I would highly recommend working with Jenn throughout your full MBA application journey!
I’m writing this review from the POV of a reapplicant. I purchased the 5 school application package and was paired with Aziz in my first year of application. I found Aziz’s ability to synthesize and distill down my values and guide me through essay writing invaluable. I cried when I read my final draft of “what matters most to you and why?” on Stanford’s essay because Aziz helped me see layers of what really matters to me (this was useful beyond the MBA application for me and into what I want my long-term vision to be). It was a heart and mind-opening exercise to write that essay as my first b-school essay and have that as the basis for all of my other essays. He was open, approachable, caring, and would give honest feedback whenever I had questions. It was tough when I found out I didn’t get into any schools in my first year even with the help of Career Protocol and Aziz’s guidance. When it came time to reapplication, the greatest value-added from Aziz and Career Protocol has been the ability to follow up with him in the second year to approach a post-mortem and see where to improve for my reapplication. He helped connect me to the right resources to strengthen my application and think about points to highlight in the optional essay required for reapplicants. I am happy to share that I am an incoming student at Berkeley Haas with a full-ride and have also received a full-ride from a top 10 school and received scholarships to attend 2 other schools in the top 15 in my second year. Turnarounds do happen!
Even though I wasn’t with Aziz for my second-year reapplication beyond the optional essay, he’s been a pivotal person in my MBA application journey from the very start in year one and helped me kick off applications in year 2. I learned the art of applying to business school, what matters to me/my values, and in general appreciated having an insightful, caring, and kind sounding board for business school and general career woes. Grateful is the only word I’m left with when I reflect on my MBA app journey with Aziz and CP!
I cannot sing enough praises about Aziz as an admissions consultant, career coach and friend! The MBA journey was tough, but I’m so thankful he was in my corner.
From cheering me on (and recommending a tutor!) during my GRE attempts, coaching my recommenders, providing essay revisions, to performing mock interviews, Aziz showed up for me every step of the way without judgment.
Most notably, Aziz helped me dig deep in my self-reflection and discovery. This was crucial in uncovering and articulating my authentic story – pulling from early life experiences through my present-day career. From there, Aziz helped me translate my goals into a specific short- and long-term plan pre and post-MBA. For the first time in my career, I had a clear and actionable plan that I was excited about!
When I hit “submit,” I knew I put forth my best applications. Ultimately, I received admissions to all the schools (T20, T10) I applied to and a generous scholarship from my dream school (T10)! I could not have had such an incredible outcome without Aziz. Thank you so much, Aziz!!
Firstly all the very best to all the prospective applicants. You’re in for a rollercoaster ride. However, I would like to emphasize how working with Louise makes the ride with all its highs and lows, way more enjoyable. Let me elucidate further :
I am from India and before I signed up with Louise I had spoken to more than 10 consultants across the globe. Career Protocol was one of the expensive ones. From my first call itself, I knew in my gut that she was the one I would like to work with. She shows you a newer perspective of looking at your story and helps you own your story and share it beautifully with the adcoms. I had a very different profile which had its own challenges. Not the quintessential IIT background. However, Louise ensured that I never felt demotivated especially when anyone told me that I cannot get into XYZ school. We would have weekly calls where she would help me stay on track and motivate me. I suffered a personal tragedy during my applications and she worked extra on the weekends just so we could give our best shot. From day 0, she considers you and herself a team. She even took extra mock interviews to ensure I had multiple admits. Honestly, I used to look forward to our weekly calls because she is so positive yet a realist!
Today I’ve secured admits from multiple schools – from Top 15 business schools- including an admit to an IVY league and an M7 business school. I give her the major credit for the same.
The only regret I have is that I did not enroll earlier ie in April/ May and waited until June.
Louise is your fairy godmother. Trust her, put in the work, and let the magic happen.
Jenn has been absolutely instrumental to help me secure admission to my favorite MBA program. I reached out to Career Protocol quite late in the process (Early August for the first application due mid-September!), and Jenn kept me on track with clear deadlines and a structured work approach. I was quite dreading writing up my essays and Jenn’s advice enabled me to surface my strengths and produce great essays. The entire process with Jess has been a blast and a worthwhile investment! Not only did I receive admission from my favorite program with a scholarship, I learned a great deal about myself, how to write the perfect CV and succeed in any interview! Last words to conclude, not only is she a great professional, she is an absolutely amazing and kind human being! You will not regret working with Jenn.
The MBA application process can be a grueling one that really forces you to examine who you are and what motivates you. When I say I could not have gotten through this process without Jenn that is not an exaggeration because I was applying to school during a global pandemic and navigating a stressful work environment at the same time.
Jenn will provide honest feedback and keep you accountable but will do it with warmth and grace. She is your biggest support, sounding board, and advocate. I really struggled to get my GRE score up and she helped me try different strategies, pulling from her past experiences and past clients. As we worked through my essays and mapped out my path to an MBA, she helped me put together applications that spoke to what truly made me unique. If you want to put together an MBA application that is the best and most authentic reflection of you, work with Jenn! It is worth every penny and then some.
Working with Jenn, I received $500K in scholarships across 5 schools and got into one of my top choices.
When I started my journey to apply to an MBA program, I didn’t know what I was about to face. I moved from Italy to Houston six years ago and had never applied to an American college before. I knew that I needed some guidance to navigate this long process, and working with Career Protocol and Brian was the best decision ever. I came from a non-traditional background, and I struggled a lot with the GMAT first and the GRE after. No matter how much effort I put into those tests, my score was still low. The test stressed me so much that I often felt that I wasn’t good enough for business school and would have never been accepted to any good school.
In those challenging moments, when you are almost ready to throw everything out of the window (yes, I almost did it, lol), Brian was a real life-saver or, better, the MBA application-saver! He kept pushing me to keep going, and at the same time, he helped me bring out my authentic self in those essays, which is the most important thing (yes, NOW I know!). Brian constantly reminded me that I was enough and helped me realize how unique and special my story is, helping me build the self-confidence I needed to succeed in this process and that I will need during business school.
With Brian’s honest and constructive feedback, even if something uncomfortable to hear, draft by draft, we built the inspiring and authentic essays that got me into 2 great schools with $, one of them in the top 10!!
I couldn’t have done it without Brian! So if you are looking for a genuine and expert consultant but also an easy-going and funny travel companion during this journey; Brian is definitely the right person!
When I first began my MBA journey, I was totally overwhelmed – I didn’t know where to start or how to best tell my story. I was also hesitant about the investment, but Career Protocol is certainly worth every penny! Louise is a masterful storyteller! She helped me distill pages of my personal story into thoughtful and meaningful stories. Louise is truly invested in her clients’ stories: she has fantastic recall and helped me draw connections from seemingly small details in my story that I otherwise would’ve missed. She also helped me reframe what I thought were negatives on my resume into positives – a mindset I’ve now adopted beyond my MBA application journey. Louise won’t settle for average: when I thought I was done with an essay, she challenged me to continue to work through it and helped me rework the essays (and my resume!) until we were both pleased with them (without any draft limit – of which I’m grateful for since it took MANY drafts). Throughout the process, I doubted myself many times (and I certainly did not think I was a T10 candidate – let alone one with scholarships!). But Louise had faith in me the entire time and she’s given me confidence – even beyond the MBA and in my career to tell my story in my most authentic voice. Louise always brings such an infectious and creative energy to her work. Working with her has been an absolute pleasure and I cannot recommend Louise enough!
My time with Career Protocol, and more specifically, Jenn was invaluable to my MBA application and has enabled me to make the most out of my b-school experience. During my time working with her, Jenn was my biggest cheerleader and helped me not only craft my story for why b-school but also contextualize my unique strengths and “superpowers” as a candidate. I truly don’t think I would be the student, leader, and trailblazer I am today if I had not spent the hours upfront working with her and digging deep into my background, aspirations, and goals. This work and the continued assistance from the CP team have allowed me to 1) hit the ground running on my career and cut through the noise in my program, 2) confidently select my dream school with ease, and 3) advocate for myself in a way that landed me a massive scholarship to two top schools. Say all this to say, I have no regrets about working with Jenn and joining the CP family — to this day, they continue to be a support system. I cannot recommend them — and Jenn — enough. And, I am forever grateful for the time I spent with them during my application process.
The return on my investment was having Jenn invest in me, helping me navigate the next step in my career, and walk out a more self-aware human.
Jenn embodies the Career Protocol philosophy of ensuring you find joy in your career and the MBA process. Jenn’s patience, empathy, collaborative nature, and kindness paired with her continuously pushing and asking the tough but right questions, made her an amazing partner. I could not have imagined having gone through the process with anyone else. At the beginning of the journey, Jenn took the time to get to know me and with my career goals being a bit fuzzy, she helped me narrow down what I wanted. In the middle of the process, she held me accountable and kept me motivated, pushing me, even when I was starting to be taken over by imposter syndrome. She was incredibly responsive and patient, it felt like I was working with a friend. The entire time she was my cheerleader, giving me those boosts of confidence when I needed it, checking in to just calm my nerves so we could hit the submit button together. After I applied, she tailored our prep to optimize our time together. She always made me feel like I was a priority so I felt comfortable asking her many, many questions of which she responded to each and every one! She tailored the process based on my experience, skillsets, and opportunities and having that flexibility made the process all that much easier and less daunting. As I near the end of this process in enrolling, I look back to the last year and know that I would not have achieved the same results without Jenn’s help!
Jenn was fantastic to work with throughout my full-time MBA application process. I dove into the experience with only seven weeks of lead-up time but Jenn offered succinct and clear advice early on, which helped me make the most effective use of those remaining days. She took the time to clearly understand my passions and motivations, staying supportive and open-minded in crafting my narrative for B-school. She was hands-on when I needed her to be, but equally took a step back when I wanted to steer the creative reins. I believe that her keen attention to detail and ability to find the overlap between my own values and those of the schools that I was applying to were critical to my success. I am thankful to Jenn for giving me the confidence I needed to gain admission into all of my top B-school choices!
As an international student, the MBA admission process was a black box to me. MBA consultants and GMAT classes are quite uncommon and I’d never heard of them. And even when I discovered what they did, I was sure I didn’t need one. I had a strong GMAT score and a job in an MBB, so what could they possibly add to my application? Then I met Angela.
Angela distinguishes herself from all the other MBA consultants because she truly speaks from the heart, provides candid and actionable suggestions and she really cares about others. She doesn’t try to sell out her services, but she guides you in your decision process by offering honest feedback even when you are not a client. However, guided by the belief that “I can make this on my own” I decided to prepare my applications without hiring any consultant (that stubbornness left me when in R1 I received a ding and a waitlist from my dream schools).
Given that, I would lie if I say I didn’t leverage Career Protocol help since the very first day of my MBA journey. I assessed my MBA odds through MBAmo Admission Calculator at least five times – hoping to see my dream school moving from “Moonshot” to “Match”. I attended Angela & Aziz clubhouse office hours every week (Angela helped me to navigate the MBA vs. MBA/MPP decision), watched almost all Angela’s YouTube videos (I learned how to engage via Zoom), subscribed to Career Protocol newsletter (too many tips to mention) and read twice Angela’s book Interview Hero (on how to tell great achievements while remaining humble).
When I got off the waitlist from my dream school and secured an interview, I knew I needed all the help possible and I reached out to Angela. She asked me to send over my entire application for her to read and to record a list of all questions I thought the adcom might ask. She did the same and sent me her list of potential questions in advance. During the interview, we practice the most critical questions. Angela provided punctual and comprehensive feedback, from my answers to my tone of voice, and shared a small secret to making me feel more at ease during the interview.
When I did my interview, I felt confident and used all the small tricks learned through the Interview Hero framework – in the end, I got admitted to HBS.
Career Protocol not only helped me to secure a spot in my dream school, but it also provided me great with resources to thrive in my professional career and personal life. Trust me, even if you don’t need an MBA consultant, you do need Angela.
Aziz was an amazing supporter during my entire application process! He helped me think deeply about my interests and career aspirations, which will be extremely valuable beyond my MBA. Career coaching was something I did not even know I needed going in, but what I am now most grateful for receiving. Aziz was always available, he is genuine and was truly invested in my success. There were times during the process when I was losing energy and Aziz encouraged me to keep pushing I am now confident that I submitted the best applications I could. Throughout the whole process, Aziz was inspiring, extremely positive, and very knowledgeable. I really enjoyed working with Aziz and looked forward to every conversation.
I was accepted to 2 of the top programs, and one of the very top with a large scholarship. Would highly recommend Aziz as an MBA consultant!!
Jenn was really amazing to work with. She started by helping me craft my story and then we worked through various interview questions. Everything we worked through came up in the interviews and I truly felt prepared – nothing came up that we hadn’t covered in some capacity. She was patient, thoughtful, and kind as I brainstormed ideas and formulated them into responses with her guidance. She knew when I needed to be pushed and when I needed more time to think things through and it was this balance that made it so effortless to work with her. I couldn’t recommend Jenn enough!
When I first heard about Admission Consultants, I was unsure about if I needed an admissions consultant to help me with my application. It was an expensive choice that I wasn’t sure would payout. As I evaluated and researched the different options, I was drawn to the way Career Protocol helped their clients. Their focus on being not just an Admissions Consultant, but a Career Coach for pre-MBAs, is the mindset that eventually sold me to work with Career Protocol and Aziz.
I was the first person in my friends and family circle to get my MBA, and Aziz was incredibly helpful and patient as he guided me throughout this process. Aziz’s focus on my professional and personal growth throughout this process, not only as an admissions consultant, but also as a career coach, helped me focus and prepare for what I wanted out of my MBA and make a plan for how I would get there.
Aziz pushed me outside my comfort zone to think through what I actually wanted to do in my life and to start building my network. This journey of self-discovery was invaluable in my application process and the lessons I learned this past year will be ones I’ll keep coming back to in the future.
Even after the application process, Aziz provided support as I decided between amazing choices (Yale with a scholarship, Booth with a scholarship, and NYU with a full ride).
Aziz goes above and beyond to help you put your best foot forward in your applications. I’m incredibly thankful for Aziz, without whom I don’t think I would be going to an M7 school in the Fall.
I had read hundreds of “successful” essays and numerous how-to guides. But when I actually sat down with my applications, I had no clue how to put the pieces together in a way that did justice to my profile. I stumbled around with a few attempts and realized that I was going to sabotage myself if I kept trying to go it alone. I needed an experienced sherpa to help me climb this mountain.
Who, though? I decided on Career Protocol because I felt that they were able to articulate a great framework and process, and when I looked through the slate of consultants available, Brian’s profile jumped out at me because it didn’t read conventionally. It felt fun, cool, and grounded, while still being extremely well put together – just like what I wanted my profile to feel like to the adcoms.
And I wasn’t disappointed. Within our first couple of meetings, Brian had looked at the material I had gathered, identified key elements of my story, and TOLD IT BACK TO ME in a way that felt and sounded like the “success essays” that I had read. Now we just had to turn those elements into specific essays for each school I was applying to, and Brian was my rock.
We then fell into a cadence of writing and reviewing once every two business days. We redrafted and redrafted until my essays were in the absolute sweet spot, and never once did I feel that I was getting anything less than 100% from Brian. He was there for ideation, for telling me (nicely) which parts still needed work, and he never let up or compromised on quality until the essays were “submission-ready”. I am 200% sure that what I ended up submitting was a magnitude better than what I would have produced on my own.
My results? Interviews at 2 top-5 schools, and admission with $ to one of them, as well as full-ride scholarships to two of my safety picks.
If you’re looking for a consultant, work with Brian. He’s cool, he’ll get you, and he’ll make sure you deliver nothing but your best self to the schools that you’re applying to.
Brian was an invaluable piece of my MBA application journey and a true pleasure to work with! His guidance directly led to 4 interviews, 3 admission decisions and ultimately my enrollment at a top-5 program. We were on a tight timeline to begin with, and I wondered if we could really pull these applications together from start to finish in just a few short weeks. But despite his cool, laid-back demeanor, he kept me on schedule and accountable to all deadlines throughout the process. Brian also had a knack for asking the right questions, which helped me discover my own personal/professional story, and he challenged me to communicate that story in the best light possible to Adcom. His feedback wasn’t always the easiest to take, but it was sincere, constructive, and I can say honestly that without it, I would not be sitting in the position I am today!
My first trek through the MBA application cycle, I was planning to work with Angela, but after seeing so much free information online, I figured I could do it on my own. Ultimately, I was rejected without an interview at four schools ranked in the 7-12 range. As they say at Career Protocol, you really do only MBA once, so I decided if I was going to do it, I needed to do it right. Angela was gracious to welcome me back to Career Protocol and it was then that she gave me the best MBA application advice I ever received, which was to be wary of application advice from students and alumni. Many of these individuals believe they got admitted because of something, when in reality, they may have gotten in DESPITE that exact thing.
From then on, when someone at Career Protocol said jump, I said how high? If you think that’s an exaggeration, Angela once mentioned that having accomplishments within your hobbies was important, and her example was that if you run, consider training for a marathon. I owned a bicycle at the time, so in addition to writing essays all summer, I trained for and completed a 100-mile race the week before applications were due.
Angela, in addition to other incredible Career Protocol team members who were always accessible and willing to help, brought out my authentic self that I never would have uncovered alone. I am so proud of the story I was able to tell through my applications, and I genuinely did learn more about myself than I ever thought possible. As I mentioned, there are tons of resources online, but I am absolutely certain that none are as useful, impactful, or relevant as the resources at Career Protocol. The team will push you when you need to be pushed, pick you up when you need a confidence boost, and bring you back to earth when you get ahead of yourself.
On paper, I am below average on literally every metric at every school in the top 20, but because of the guidance I received at Career Protocol, I find myself with multiple offers, including one from HBS.
For the longest time, my goal was to become a doctor; I had no interest in going to business school. As my interests and ambitions changed, however, I realized I could make an equally meaningful impact in the corporate world. There was one problem – I had next to zero “formal” business experience, having spent most of my professional life in academic research labs. How could I possibly stack up against those who spent years as MBB consultants and investment bankers? Oh, and I struggled tremendously with the GMAT. I knew I’d need some help…
From day one, Aziz made the MBA application process truly fun. There was always less emphasis on the applications themselves and more on internal discovery – what makes me “tick” and how do my seemingly discrete passions and skills build up to a compelling narrative. This is the hard part, but it’s what made my applications stand out and made schools want to invest in ME.
Finding the “right” MBA consultant is, of course, a personal choice. It’s also an extremely expensive one. But I can definitively say that I would not change a thing about working with Aziz and Career Protocol. From my first conversation with him, Aziz picked up on small character traits and nuances I never in a million years thought I’d use as interview or essay material. He encouraged me when I felt defeated and gave me the confidence to tackle not only the application process, but B-school and beyond.
I ended up with acceptances to nearly all of the schools to which I applied and am excited to attend a T15 program next fall. While I won’t be his client anymore, I certainly intend to keep in touch with Aziz and am happy to call him a friend.
Working with Angela was the best financial decision I have made in years. I had already applied to a business school (had been denied) and I knew I needed guidance from someone who understood the process but also would be willing to challenge me. The process of working on essays with Angela, who is a keen storyteller, was challenging and yet rewarding.
Angela is the best editor in town and that challenges you to make sure you are telling your most authentic story. For me, telling the story of my career was extremely tough. I had spent almost eight years post-undergrad working across a span of startups, international governments, nonprofits, and a simple story arc was not capturing my evolution as a leader. Angela was patient and sharp with her analysis of each draft and we finally found the through-line in my story.
There were many times in the long MBA process that I almost gave up and Angela’s wit and rational thinking kept me in the game. For example, in July, I had bombed the GRE and had no clear story arc for my essays, and I anxiously asked will we even make round 1 deadlines in September? Angela’s response to me was keep going and you can make that decision the night before. I have to say that’s the kind of push I needed for the last two months, and we ended up applying to six programs in Round 1.
Results speak for themselves: I got into 5/6 top MBA programs and I am headed to Harvard Business School in the fall.
I really think if you are considering getting help, talk to Angela and see if she is the right fit for you. For me, she was a lifesaver in this arduous process, and I would highly recommend Angela to friends and colleagues looking to embark on the MBA journey. I think my post MBA self will thank Angela for the incredibly thoughtful career visioning and work we did together as well. I am headed into a top MBA program knowing myself deeply and knowing which opportunities will excite me in the future!
Working with Aziz is like having your own personal cheerleader and a stellar coach – who will both guide you to success and support you when the going gets rough. When deciding to apply to business school, I was seeking guidance with my story coming from a non-traditional background, to present my authentic self to schools, and to have grown from the application process regardless of the outcomes. Working with Aziz and Career Protocol not only helped me achieve all of those goals but also helped me learn so much about myself.
Aziz is phenomenal because he truly gets to know you personally and deeply. He has a sharp intuition and will help you discover strengths and gems in your story you didn’t even know about. He was diligent, helpful, and insightful at every step of the application process, from essays to interviews to decision guidance. I got into Haas (one of my top choices), and I know the application process would have been a lot more grueling and precarious if I had done it on my own. I would recommend working with Aziz and Career Protocol in a heartbeat – they will bring you on a journey, and you will emerge having gained valuable insights about yourself and your future.
While the most important part of the MBA admissions process is the outcome, as cheesy as it sounds, the journey of self discovery was nearly equally as valuable to me.
As someone who initially pursued an MBA because it was “what I was supposed to do to further my career”, Aziz helped me truly understand my goals and passions. While deep self reflection is not always easy, Aziz patiently guided me through the process, helping me explore my motivations and aspirations. This ultimately helped me discover a career path that I am passionate about and can confidently pursue during and after business school.
Aziz and the career protocol team went beyond cleaning up my essays or telling me what the admissions office wanted to hear. Aziz took me on a journey of self discovery, which in end not only helped me get into both Booth and Kellogg (my two top choices) but also helped me grow as a person.
To be honest, I wasn’t even sure I needed an admissions consultant at the beginning of this process. I knew that I could do an application that reaches 80-90% of its potential, but I also knew that MBA applications are ridiculously competitive and that the margins of success are small enough that the last 10% could make a big difference, so I decided to go all-in and work with Angela. There’s no way I would’ve gotten into Wharton and LBS without her, given that I went to a no-name school and worked for no-name companies.
My favorite parts about working with Angela and CP were (1) the introspective deep dive, (2) the additional resources available, and (3) the human approach.
(1) The introspection that CP “forces” you through goes very deep, and is a key part of the process to help identify what you bring to a class. Especially for me, having a resume without any brand names, I knew this would make or break my application.
(2) There are A LOT of complementary resources available in the app they built – everything you possibly need to know about applications, resumes, interviews, scholarship negotiation, but also other lots of stuff post-acceptance, to make the most of the MBA itself. I didn’t really appreciate how much time all these resources and having Angela at the other end of an email would save me in the application process to be honest – especially when things got very busy.
(3) When you look at the Career Protocol (CP) website, you’ll realize that they’re a bit different from other admission consulting firms out there haha – a lot wackier, more human, and definitely more fun. That was a big part of why I chose to go with Angela in the end, and given that I’ll be attending Wharton, I’m really damn glad I did.
Aziz is amazing! I was drawn to Career Protocol’s personal approach given that I was applying to business school with a very non-traditional background. Aziz helped me narrow down and identify my dreams and goals into something tangible. He was able to extract intrinsic characteristics in my life story and how they would be valued in business school, and then helped to connect the dots as to how they related to my goals. I was really able to show the admissions committees who I am as a person and what my values are. I never felt like anything was fake or forced- if a suggestion didn’t feel right, I was comfortable having that conversation with Aziz. At the end of the day, he really cared about helping me show my true self to the adcoms and how I would be an asset to their programs. I cannot imagine that I would have had much, if any success without his help and guidance throughout the application process.
I worked with Aziz on a three application package after Career Protocol came highly recommended to me by a coworker who had worked with them previously. I had met with a few other consultants as well, but after my first conversation with Aziz, I felt a distinct sense of engagement and care for my story and my ambitions. I started the MBA application process concerned about how I’d make myself stand out coming from a typically well-represented pool of applicants (finance). Throughout the next several months, we deep-dived on my personal background, the choices I had made through life, and the goals and aspirations I wanted to put to paper in my applications. Aziz helped me put together applications that I felt were true to myself, clear and powerful, and simply much better than what I could have done in an equal amount of head-banging alone. The reflection process helped me clarify not just that I wanted the MBA, but what I would do for myself personally and professionally, giving me greater confidence for the interviews. I got interviews at all three schools I applied to (HBS, GSB, and Wharton), and got into HBS (my top choice), Wharton with a full ride, and waitlisted at GSB. Post-decisions, Aziz was there for me to discuss scholarships and any other concerns I had. If I had to make the choice to work with him again, I’d do it again in a heartbeat. I’ve already recommended Aziz and Career Protocol to a few friends contemplating applying next year.
In short: Work with Angela — it’ll be the best decision you’ll make through the MBA application process. You’ll get into outstanding programs, and importantly you’ll also grow in your self-confidence.
In detail: My background was in MBB consulting in the Asia Pacific. I’d previously applied for H/S/W and wasn’t successful at even securing an interview, despite a strong GMAT and undergraduate GPA.
I was first introduced to Angela by a colleague who worked with her to gain admission to her dream MBA program.
I chose to work with her because, within our first 20-min conversation, I was shocked by how much depth she was able to cover about my candidature and potential areas to strengthen my applications — she’d clearly been thinking about my profile and application approach even before I was a client. This stood out against other admission consultants I’d spoken with.
I worked with her for 2.5 months whilst I was on a high intensity work project to craft 4 applications (including 3 reapplications) for M7 schools and to create a ‘career gameplan’, where for the first time I’d reflected on my future ambitions and goals. It almost felt like therapy when we spoke; I’d share some of my most personal stories and we’d think through how they influenced my life and vision.
When I received interviews, she prepared me robustly — an M7 interviewer commented that my ‘Why Business School?’ was ‘the most clear answer they’d heard over countless interviews’. Credit to Career Protocol’s thoughtful interview prep resources for that praise.
In the end, I was admitted with a partial scholarship to my top preference program (a program that I didn’t even receive an interview from just 10 months earlier!).
The best thing about Angela is that she’ll be your individual cheerleader: She’ll get to know you (not just as an applicant, but a friend!) and care about you over the process. Even when you’re at your worst personally — exhausted, stressed, or on edge — she’ll know what to say to keep you motivated, and help you grow in your own understanding of self (and therefore self confidence).
I’m thankful I’ve left this process with multiple M7 admissions, a high degree of self understanding and confidence, and a friend in my fantastic coach and cheerleader Angela.
Thanks, Career Protocol and Angela for an outstanding experience. Well worth the investment!
Angela will be your best partner to help make your MBA dreams come true!
I knew I wanted to work with Angela right after my first consultation call and it was a great decision for me! The first conversation I had with her felt very personal and candid, and I knew that it was the behavioral fit and the kind of relationship I was looking for in a consultant. Angela is such a positive person and she was truly my partner from start to finish. I felt that Angela really cared about me as an individual and as a friend, and was equally as invested in my goals and my success as I was. I absolutely enjoyed working with Angela and I am so grateful to have had the chance to work with her.
And Angela helped me achieve my HBS dream come true. As a reapplicant, I was worried about having to bring something drastically new to my application but Angela convinced me that I just had to tell my story in a more authentic and compelling way. Whereas I was initially focused on telling the story that I thought others wanted to hear, Angela was amazing at bringing out my voice, emotions, and helping me realize my passion and what really mattered to me, and ultimately encouraging me to tell the story that I truly wanted to tell. Most importantly, I was very proud and happy with the story I told. I am very appreciative of her for that.
Above all, Angela is more than just an MBA consultant. Angela has empowered me to become more confident with myself both personally and professionally, and helped me discover myself in ways that I had not imagined were possible. Some calls even felt like therapy sessions where I learned how to embrace my weaknesses and to come up with ways to turn my fears into strengths.
And finally, Angela was always there to cheer me up, calm me down, and boost my confidence when I was stressing out, and she was always there to provide me with harsh and honest but the most constructive feedback that I needed the most.
I wholeheartedly recommend Angela — she will be your best partner to help you achieve your MBA dream come true.
I worked with other consultants for 2+2 and Angela is by far the best. For R1 2021, I wanted to make sure I had the best consultant on my side, so I spoke with everyone on the Poets&Quants top list, and I connected best with Angela. Career Protocol lives up to its name because they not only care about your MBA application, but also help you figure out what impact you want to make on the world post-MBA. Angela and the team care deeply about your overall personal development, which includes building confidence and recognizing what makes you special. Angela really gets to know you and she strives for perfection with every essay and line in the online application form to make sure you express your best self. Her interview prep helps you not only in the MBA process but for every interview you’ll have for the rest of your life. Angela – thank you for changing my life, I couldn’t have gotten into HBS without you.
As a non-traditional candidate, I was very hesitant about applying to business school, not knowing how to frame my story and journey to pursue an MBA. Louise reassured and encouraged me from day 1 that I had a lot to offer. I was nervous that my writing style would come across as dull and uninspired, but with her help, I was able to find more engaging ways to connect through my writing. She was excited to learn about me and my experiences, and her creativity and perspective were invaluable in communicating my values, goals, and dreams. What really stood out to me about working with her was that she knew me so well: she could instantly recall stories, projects, anecdotes, and volunteering experiences to help guide my thought process. That gave me a lot of confidence that she really understood where I was coming from and believed in me. She pushed and challenged me to achieve my best, which I am grateful for. Ultimately I was accepted to 4 schools, all with scholarships, and will be attending Wharton in the fall!
Louise 100% exceeded my expectations as my MBA consultant. When I began the application process, I was nervous about my strength as a candidate given my GRE score and lack of quantitative experience in undergrad/post-grad. She invested so much time and effort to help me craft my story and give me the confidence I needed to put my best foot forward in applications.
I got into my top choice and got interviews at 7/8 schools I applied to (almost ALL of them I identified as reach schools)… NEVER did I think this would be possible! I am forever grateful to Louise and the Career Protocol team for believing in me and caring about my individual experiences and potential. I cannot recommend Louise enough!!!
