I help people find their dream careers and achieve their ambitions. I do this by helping people get to know themselves and their goals better through the MBA application process and career coaching during and post-MBA.
Applications, interviewing and coaching have been my forte for the past decade and I was fortunate enough to receive a 50% scholarship to Chicago Booth and offers from McKinsey and BCG whilst in school. I also coached hundreds of fellow students as a Career Coach (during and after school) and I am an Alumni Admissions Interviewer for Booth.
My multi-industry and international (lived and worked in 9 countries) experience helps me to craft your story in a unique and stand-out manner. My experience includes management-consulting (McKinsey), tech and e-commerce (Rocket Internet, BSc Comp Sci Cornell University), financial services (Derivatives sales and trading, Enterprise software) and consumer industries (Fashion and Manufacturing).
I work on MBA admissions full-time and work with a limited number of clients each year so I can provide a personalized, dedicated and rapid response service. I also work with a number of clients for career coaching recruiting during and post MBA.
I work with clients on a comprehensive package basis (ie. from resume, goals, school selection, recommendations, essays, interviews, waitlist and offer management and negotiation) or can completely customize an hourly or special package.
Clients work with me for my deeply introspective and reflective process which is not only designed to help you get into a top MBA school but will also equip you with skills for your future career / endeavor.
I also provide a very personal service and hence only take on a limited number of clients each year to provide the best outcome possible.

Coming from a non-traditional background, the prospect of navigating business school applications felt overwhelming. While consulting with various MBA advisors, I ultimately chose Amrit for his structured and honest approach during our initial conversation. His rigorous review of my application played a significant role in my acceptance to London Business School.
Right from our first interaction, it was clear that Amrit possessed a deep understanding of my unique background. He dedicated time to thoroughly explore my journey, identifying the qualities that distinguished me. This empathetic approach fostered a collaborative relationship, shaping my application strategy.
What truly distinguishes Amrit is his exceptional patience. Despite my numerous questions and uncertainties, he remained dedicated to my success.
His methodical approach ensured the presentation of a compelling narrative and instilled in me a sense of purpose that was instrumental in achieving my goals. In conclusion, I wholeheartedly recommend Amrit to anyone, especially those from non-traditional backgrounds, embarking on the journey to business school.
I would like to share a little bit about my experience, what was important to me, the thought processes that went on in my mind, and how Amrit helped me navigate through all those challenges.
I come from a purely technical background. So, when I first started, I soon realized that it’s very important to portray my story in a different way for MBA programs. For example, I have always been focused on say coding languages and the technical aspect of things. But when it came to applying for an MBA, I had to learn how to present my story in a strategic way, focus on the leadership aspect of all my projects and the places where I took various initiatives.
Amrit helped me identify all these items properly. I spoke to 4-5 different counsellors, and I think one thing that really stood out to me about Amrit was that it was very easy to talk to him about anything. Whether it was something challenging or really anything I felt he was very straightforward and non-judgmental. I think that was important for me and that’s something that stood out for me compared to other counsellors. He was always very honest and upfront and so that was one of the main reasons that I started working with Amrit.
Once I started working with him, I soon realized that he was much more than just a counsellor. There were many times during the application process when I was falling behind and he helped me stay on track. There were also times when I was on my fifth or sixth draft and I felt like my story was not coming through properly, but Amrit never gave up. He always pushed me and encouraged me to focus on my own story and allowed me to be truly vulnerable in my stories. I think that was really important for me to get into Stanford GSB, because it’s about sharing my story, the complete picture of myself, and connecting that with the person I am today.
For anybody who’s considering applying to business schools, I would highly, highly recommend Amrit as your counsellor. I’m sure he’ll help you, guide you through this process and make it as easy as possible. By the end of last year, I thoroughly enjoyed the process. I grew so much, learned so much about myself and it was a truly memorable experience.
I enthusiastically endorse Amrit as an exceptional admissions consultant who has been pivotal in reshaping my MBA application journey. As a non-traditional candidate without the support of a feeder undergraduate institution, relevant job experience, and after a previous unsuccessful application cycle, I was navigating uncharted waters. When I initially contacted Amrit, it was his impartial feedback and genuinely positive approach—devoid of any sales pitch—that resonated with me.
Having previously engaged with a costly consulting firm, I found myself squandering considerable time scouring the internet for inspiration and engaging in unproductive self-introspection exercises. This futile approach led me nowhere. However, Amrit’s approach revolutionized my perception of the application process. His methodical framework not only demystified the daunting nature of the applications but also facilitated a profound exploration of my experiences, enabling me to construct a genuine narrative of my candidacy.
Amrit’s striking attribute lies in his unapologetic honesty—a rarity in this field. His direct and transparent demeanor proves invaluable; he guides you to aim high while simultaneously developing a prudent strategy for business school applications. Furthermore, his unwavering patience throughout the iterative revision cycles is nothing short of remarkable.
Before him, I spoke to numerous consultants as a reapplicant. A few advised me to look for T20 safety schools and a few other went ahead to tell me that an MBA is not a good career choice. When I mentioned to Amrit my dream of applying to GSB, he not only encouraged me but even went beyond our initial engagement and helped me.
For those currently evaluating their choice of an admissions consultant, I confidently affirm that selecting Amrit will be a decision you’ll never regret. His insights and dedication have had a profound impact on my journey, and I am excited to see the transformation he can bring to others as well.
Being a “non-traditional” candidate, the application process seemed very daunting to me at the outset. However, my very first call with Amrit put me at ease. The structured manner in which he approached the process by breaking it down to smaller actionable items really kept me focused and on track throughout.
While Amrit encourages you to shoot your best shot, he is very upfront about his opinion and keeps you grounded, something which is very rare to find in people in this profession. He pushes you to introspect deeply and will not settle until you’ve arrived at the best version of your application, no matter how many iterations it takes.
He’s also always readily available and is very prompt in his response. Many times I was stuck with work obligations and had to cut very close to the deadline but Amrit was available throughout and responded within 2hrs, something I’m very grateful for.
The interview support he provided is also very comprehensive and prepares you to tackle all sorts of questions that can be thrown your way. With his help, I applied to 3 M7s and was admitted at 2 and waitlisted at 1. I’m finally attending Wharton (My dream! Which I thought was a reach for me) and wholeheartedly recommend Amrit to everyone who is thinking of applying to b-schools.
In many ways, I was an ‘imperfect’ applicant. I came from a non-feeder undergrad, non-feeder job role, industry and company, and also had a year-gap. I had tried my luck in the previous cycle applying to Kellogg and Tuck but was unsurprisingly met with rejections but was nonetheless disappointed, and was seriously questioning whether I should go ahead with an MBA at all, given that most people had advised me to look at T25-35 as ‘safety’ schools.
But while speaking to a student from one of my target schools, I was referred to Amrit. I liked the approach he walked me through over the call and he provided me that much needed confidence that I could make a compelling application, given a possible improvement in my test score. He told me how my goals previously may have sounded vague and unrealistic, and suggested alternatives that made more sense given my background. I was convinced and decided to enroll with him and in hindsight, it was a great decision that paid off!
There are several positives about working with Amrit. The approach he suggests for all components of the application, even the order in which to go about completing the different components is extremely thought through and meticulous. Breaking the seemingly endless parts of an MBA application into smaller parts in a logical manner goes a long way in making the daunting process seem very achievable. Having a quick TAT is super underrated. I knew that if i’m submitting material for review after work at night, I would have the edits the next day to resume working on it. These quick iterations help you make even 2 day deadlines workable! (although not advised). It was because of this that I managed to put in 10 applications in R1!
The best part about working with Amrit was that he always managed to bring out the best in you. He has a way of pushing you to introspect, dig deeper and ensure that your most authentic, truest self is displayed in your essays. For an unconventional applicant like me, it was essential to have mind-blowing essays, essays that got me interview invites from schools such as Booth.
I ended up with admits to UCLA with 50% and Ross and waitlists at a couple of M7s. Looking back, I feel like it was a great decision working with Amrit, and truly believed he helped me punch above my weight and secure a T-10 admit!
Amrit is an outstanding MBA admissions consultant who helped me immensely in my B-school applications. This was my second time applying to MBA programs after a first failed attempt, and Amrit’s guidance was crucial to my success.
One of the things I appreciated most about working with Amrit was the level of structure he brought to the process. He provided a clear roadmap and timeline for the application process, which helped me stay organized and on track. His process helped me stay focused and ensured that I was hitting all the necessary milestones along the way. Amrit was highly responsive and accessible throughout the application process, always available to answer any questions and provide feedback on my drafts. Amrit was also a great source of emotional support during the stressful application process. He understood how challenging and daunting the application process can be, especially when dealing with rejection or delays. He always kept my spirits up and provided me with words of encouragement that helped me stay motivated and focused.
Amrit was particularly helpful in improving my resume structure and converting highly technical engineering jargon into common terms that anyone could understand. He helped me showcase my impact on my work, which was instrumental in the success of my applications. He was also an excellent coach during the interview preparation process. He helped me develop a clear and concise message about who I was and why I wanted to attend business school. He provided me with detailed feedback on my responses and helped me practice my interview skills until I felt confident and prepared. His insights and guidance helped me improve my communication skills and feel more at ease during the interviews.
Overall, I highly recommend Amrit as an MBA admissions consultant. He is a consummate professional who is passionate about helping his clients achieve their goals. His attention to detail, expertise, and dedication to his clients are second to none, and I am grateful for his guidance and support in helping me secure admission to my dream MBA programs!!
I had the pleasure of working with Amrit for my MBA applications and I cannot recommend him highly enough. His exceptional skills as a listener and thorough individual helped me to produce my best work.
His structured approach to the process allowed me to delve deep into the questions and produce authentic answers that truly reflected who I am. Not only was Amrit available to me whenever I needed him, but he was also extremely responsive and always answered promptly – even during late hours.
His optimistic attitude was contagious and he helped me to stay motivated throughout the application process. Working together, we were able to produce very strong applications that I was extremely satisfied with. Overall, I highly recommend Amrit to anyone looking for a skilled and dedicated consultant who can guide them through the MBA application process with ease.
Amrit’s highly introspective style and personalized feedback helped me immensely in the MBA application process. I decided to apply in the R2 intake pretty late and talked to multiple consultants, who either gave me generic not-so-useful feedback or made the admission consultancy process appear very transactional. With Amrit, starting from the first conversation itself, I felt like I was talking to a peer who was actually interested in understanding my career growth and my future aspirations.
Amrit was very kind and understanding during the process, and helped me stay on course for application timelines through his specific feedback and personalized suggestions. Amrit also helped me prepare for admission interviews by conducting mocks and suggesting improvements in how to present my story. His introspective style is what stood out the most for me: the introspection we did helped me not only in applying to business school, but also in finding qualities which have shaped me into who I am today.
I finally got admitted to Kellogg which would have been very difficult without Amrit considering the extremely low time I had to submit the application. Working with Amrit was a pleasure and I would highly recommend him to future MBA applicants across the world!
After a disappointing experience working with another consultant last year, I decided to work with Amrit for my applications after hearing positive feedback from a friend. And I’m so glad I did! With Amrit’s help, I received interview invitations from all five schools I applied to and secured admission to my dream school, Wharton (where I was a re-applicant).
Amrit was positive yet realistic during our introductory call and helped me figure out which schools I should apply to. He was candid with his feedback when some parts of my drafts did not work.
Amrit has an extremely structured and methodical approach, which helped me break down the overwhelming admissions process into smaller, more manageable chunks and helped me complete the process without losing my sanity. Amrit’s interview preparation process (which included mock interviews) was also incredibly structured and helped me tackle all the different kinds of interview questions that came up.
Amrit was also very prompt and would usually provide feedback on drafts I submitted late at night by the following day.
I was dissatisfied with the approach of my previous consultant who provided only one round of feedback on my drafts. Amrit, on the other hand, worked with me throughout the process, providing multiple rounds of feedback until we were both satisfied with the end result. At the same time, he was pragmatic and provided actionable comments when deadlines were looming, which helped me complete the applications on time.
Overall, I had a fantastic experience working with Amrit and would highly recommend him!
Coming from a non-traditional work background (public-sector digital space), I was skeptical of my chances at a top business school. However, working with Amrit, I realized the power of logical storytelling to explain my ideas with measurable impact. With his guidance, I not only got into the coveted Michigan Ross with a $40K scholarship but also broke into the very selective Haas School of Business. Given below were some of the highlights of working with Amrit: –
1. Quite literally as stated in his website, Amrit has a no B.S. approach to essays and resumes. He likes clarity of thought process and quantitative metrics to give credence to the story. This approach fundamentally changes the whole narrative of pre-MBA story writing from telling to showing, giving the reader a very strong and genuine grasp of the aspirant’s life journey.
2. Contrary to writing essays and researching on schools, he will first ask you to be clear on your resume and post-MBA goals w.r.t short-, medium- and long-term career trajectories. This approach helps in identifying a clear fit with business schools as each school is special in its own way
3. Amrit is a master at helping in drafting a nearly perfect resume. He uses a mix of quantitative and impact-centric philosophies at carving high-quality resumes. He does so by taking a lot of time in first fixing the resume as an impact heavy library, from where different story pivots emerge naturally.
4. Amrit outshines others by a large margin in bringing out the deep elements of one’s personality. I struggled a lot at showing my inner-self and vulnerable side to the reader in my stories. But he helped me bring the core tenets of my idiosyncrasies and be genuine and authentic to the reader. This really helped in writing strong personal stories as they came from my heart with conviction.
5. He further pushes you to your limits of introspection and fundamentals of decision-making through various choices. He will never settle with a good or workable draft. He will only settle for the best version. That means that the candidate better be hardworking and willing to put in extra time if he/she wants to work with Amrit. I remember undertaking 5-6 drafts on one essay with him, which is a lot of personal attention from Amrit’s side.
6. During the time of application deadlines, Amrit was available round the clock on E-mail. In fact, a lot of value came into my essays through this last-minute to-and-fro of exchange with him. I do not recall a time when I needed his help and he wasn’t available. This made a crucial difference to my overall application submission as he helped me manage anxiety and answer my multiple doubts, despite having other candidates bothering him simultaneously for their application deadlines.
7. Lastly, on a personal side, Amrit has a fantastic sense of humor and an authentic unfiltered communication style, which I frankly liked a lot as I could trust his advice and go all out with it without bothering for hypocrisy or ingenuine motives. I always felt he had my best interest in guiding me, even sometimes when he pushed me a lot as he was not satisfied with my input. I highly recommend any serious candidate to go ahead with him as he would be your mentor, critic, and ultimately, a deeply dependable friend in the MBA application process.
After struggling with B school applications for a few years, I had the pleasure of working with Amrit Hassaram as my MBA admissions consultant. Amrit’s structured approach made a significant difference in how I approached the whole admissions process. He ensured that I got my resume, recommendations, and career goals done first, which saved a lot of mental bandwidth toward the end of the process. His methodical approach helped me feel more prepared for my applications, and I was equally impressed by how structured his communication and file management were – helped me stay organized throughout.
Amrit’s guidance on crafting a solid resume and developing my career goals was exceptional. He helped me identify my strengths and presented them in a way that would resonate with any b school admissions committee. Amrit’s focus on the candidate writing everything down allowed me to think through my ideas and develop compelling stories to showcase my experiences and aspirations.
One of the reasons why I chose to work with Amrit was his prompt turnaround time (24 hours or less), which helped me meet deadlines without any stress. Amrit was always available to answer my questions and provide guidance throughout the process.
What sets Amrit apart is his expertise in structuring stories, he helped me understand the importance of effective communication and how to structure my thoughts in a compelling way. If you’re looking for someone who can help you with structuring your stories and work for your application while being a knowledgeable sounding board, then Amrit is the right person for you.
Starting an MBA application program can be a very daunting task. However, Amrit’s structured method of approaching the application really simplified the process for me. He was truly able to bring the best out of my story to help me weave it perfectly for the applications. He is very honest while giving feedback, and he iteratively helped me improve my application by leaps and bounds. I absolutely couldn’t have it without him. Highly recommend!
Working with Amrit allowed me to go from receiving rejections from over 10 colleges to getting admission with a full scholarship within the same year. I applied to several top US and European schools in 2022 during round 2 without engaging a consultant. To my disappointment, I was rejected by all programs. I wasn’t sure of what had gone wrong: maybe it was the test score, my unconventional profile, or a lack of clarity with my goals. Whatever it was, I knew I couldn’t afford to repeat these mistakes when reapplying.
I reached out to Amrit in May 2022 with this conundrum. His feedback was sharp: improve the score, make the resume more impactful, and redo the essays from scratch. I was struck by his willingness to not mince words and felt like it was exactly what I needed. We started working together soon thereafter with the goal of sending applications in early action and round 1. Amrit started by explaining how I could redraft my resume to convey the impact more clearly. He walked me through the resumes of several students who had similar backgrounds and had made it my target school. He also painstakingly shared comments on my drafts to ensure that every bullet conveyed the requisite impact.
On the essays, Amrit helped me realize that my goals sounded vague and generic, almost as if I was following the herd instead of being authentic. He emphasized the importance of introspection and research before I started answering questions like why I wanted to do an MBA and what I intended to pursue in the short term and long term. This was particularly challenging because my background was unconventional. But going through the process with him allowed me to gain clarity about why I was taking this step at this point in my career. My goals become more tailored to my profile which, I believe, allowed me to stand out from other applicants.
One of the best pieces of advice I received from him was on understanding the unique culture and values of each school. This was critical to me being able to explain why studying at a particular university appealed to me. Instead of regurgitating buzzwords from schools’ websites, he encouraged me to go deeper and gain insights from students and alumni. This helped me develop a stronger conviction for every program which was evident in the essays and the interview.
If I had to do it all over again, there’s no doubt that I’d work with Amrit. He not only enabled me to achieve a dream school admission with a scholarship but actually made the journey, I daresay, enjoyable. His wit, enthusiasm, experience, professionalism, and honesty were all fantastic!
I was a reapplicant and reached out to Amrit after a very bad and unprofessional experience with an expensive Indian consultant. My results changed from 0 admits out of 9 applications to 3 admits out of 6 applications – Kellogg, LBS, and Tuck (with scholarship). What I really appreciated in Amrit was his warmth and professionalism, which isn’t that common with especially Indian consultants. Working with him was super easy and enjoyable and there are very few who care to develop such relationships with their clients. He has a strict 24-hour TAT, and he ensured that he always gave feedback on drafts within that TAT. This was super helpful to me as I could send him a draft at night and receive feedback by afternoon and again work on it. We made 4-5 iterations within a week !! The story-choosing and writing process designed by Amrit works amazingly well and it was this process and Amrit’s expertise, which helped me choose the perfect stories for Kellogg and write them to perfection. Unlike a few consultants who discourage calls, Amrit prefers personal calls to discuss essays and it makes a HUGE difference as it brings crystal clear clarity in the candidate’s mind him/her writes their essay with perfection. Amrit’s interview prep was also spot on. I don’t feel I could have prepared for my interview better than I did with the process designed by Amrit. We meticulously planned content for each fundamental interview question and post that I just required a few self-practice sessions and Mocks with Amrit to feel confident about my interview. Looking back, I feel I made a great choice by choosing Amrit and I not only got admitted to 3 Top 10 schools but also enjoyed working with him because of his warm demeanor and impeccable professionalism and work ethic.
Imposter syndrome is never more palpable than when one begins to consider pursuing an MBA from a top school. When competition is tough and admission rates are declining, it is difficult not to doubt your own story and accomplishments. But this is precisely what Amrit helped me rediscover and articulate through my application process.
With two prior rejections, I contacted Amrit in May’21 to help me with school selection and applications. Most other consultants had provided a conservative view of where I could apply and get in. But, despite a 329 on the GRE, Amrit encouraged me to apply to schools that I really wanted to attend by reinforcing my confidence in my story and goals. His unique style of working on the MBA resumes and recommendations, built from an acute understanding of the admissions process, allowed me to finish the common denominators for all schools first.
As we discussed approaches to essay prompts, we brainstormed through my life experiences, going into depth about my values, past decisions, learnings, and actions. More than once I asked him about what the school would want to hear, but every time, he brought the focus back to me, and what I authentically had to say. This led to me writing essays that were simple, clear, and impactful, reflecting who I really was. As the interview invites began to pour in, through mocks with Amrit I could practice how to succinctly articulate my responses and put my best foot forward.
I will be attending UVA Darden this fall with a 50% scholarship. I am grateful for the guidance I received from Amrit and his team which extended beyond the application process in finding the confidence to apply to the best institutions in the world, and in holding my own through what is definitely a nerve-wracking process.
During my introductory call with Amrit, I liked his structured approach toward the application process, his honesty, and welcoming nature. Throughout the process, he marked the perfect balance of incorporating my inputs into the application as well as providing his critical feedback on my story.
Amrit worked with me one on one throughout the process and was available for calls or feedback at a quick turnaround time. He was happy to do multiple iterations just to make sure both he and I were happy with the best story put forth.
Even through the interviews, he provided critical input to make the story promising and ensured that the answers were delivered with confidence.
I truly appreciated the honesty with which he guided me through the process and worked with me hand in hand to ensure that the best application was put forth.
My MBA application journey has lasted two years. I had a terrible experience with one of the most renowned consultants during the last cycle. This year, I was keen on doing the right research before actually working with a consultant. After speaking to numerous consultants and successful candidates, I finally decided to work with Amrit. From the very first introductory call, I loved how straightforward Amrit was with my chances at schools and the realistic steps I would have to take to maximize my chances.
The thing that I liked about working with Amrit is how he has codified the process. He breaks down the process into smaller steps and only after completing these steps, we would move ahead. I enjoyed this bit because it helped me stay organized in an otherwise overwhelming process with multiple schools and deadlines. On the essay front, we went through a lot of iterations before an essay was finalized. He doesn’t sacrifice on quality even if I was already on the 10th iteration. We would keep doing this to and fro until it was perfect. Throughout these iterations, Amrit would patiently guide and help me in the thought process but never spoonfeed, which I really appreciate in hindsight. It has made me a better thinker and writer.
For interviews, as for everything, Amrit has a set process to best prepare, which includes first building the answers and then a bunch of mock interviews with him. I found the interview help extremely helpful as I could discuss everything from my expressions to my content with him. Overall, I found Amrit extremely organized, approachable (can schedule a call with him anytime, and any number of times), and professional in terms of timelines (24-hour turnaround time). If you’re gunning for M7 schools and beyond, Amrit is the way to go!
I chose to work with Amrit for his plain speech and clarity of thought. Amrit ensures he is fully accessible – whether it be weekends or weekdays – and very prompt in his response and in sharing feedback on essay drafts. More importantly, Amrit will himself devote time to your application, unlike other consultants who post onboarding will likely delegate your application to a junior consultant. Amrit lays great emphasis on the importance of differentiating application through honest and real self-reflection. This helped me in bringing out significant personal stories that have shaped me as a person and influenced my professional goals. He has the knack for cutting the flab in your essays and guiding you to write your story crisply and clearly. Amrit also had a detailed interview guide which helped me prepare cogent responses to difficult behavioral questions in MBA interviews.
With Amrit’s help, I was able to secure an admit to Kellogg School of Management.
As a reapplicant to the same 4 schools as last year, I know for a fact that Amrit played a huge role in converting 4 rejections into an acceptance at my dream school and 2 other interview invites (All top-15 schools in the US).
I initially reached out to him to review my profile and unsuccessful applications from last year. I was very impressed with how comprehensive he was and decided to enlist his help with my resume, goals/SoP, essays and interview prep.
Throughout this process, I found Amrit to be very methodical and rational, while also matching my ambition and enthusiasm for my career path. He demanded the very best of my efforts and provided genuine feedback, be it ruthlessly cutting down excesses (or “waffle” as he calls it!) or helping me highlight my unique strengths and experiences. He also made sure that I held myself accountable for deadlines as I navigated a demanding 60+ hours work week.
Amrit’s vast international work experience and admissions-consulting expertise were evident from our very first call. No matter what your profile is, it’s likely that he has helped similar clients in the past and knows what it takes to get you into your target school.
Amrit is world-class and seeking him out was the best decision I made during this long and stressful B-School admissions process. Highly recommend.
It was the introductory call with Amrit, which convinced me that he was the consultant that I needed to work with. Immediately he was extremely warm and made me feel comfortable. We were able to immediately talk about my background and figure out a roadmap for my target schools.
What stood out about him and his approach to the process was:
a) He is able to maintain the perfect balance of structure as well as freedom. He believes in calling a spade a spade and that is very important for the application process so that you don’t get ahead of yourself.
b) Despite working alone, he has a very quick turnaround. Usually, emails sent late into the night would have early morning replies and we would be able to talk and finalize things by afternoon on the same day
c) He was available on short notice and for extended periods to brainstorm ideas and he would genuinely listen and help refine the stories. During these sessions I was able to bring out things to connect the dots and make the stories more targeted as per the requirements of the schools.
d) During my interview preparation, he wasn’t keeping well yet he would always take out time to help me prep by taking mock interviews and also having debriefs with me explaining the areas that I needed to work on.
To top it all off, he has a very friendly and humorous demeanor and in every call we would discuss cricket, making the entire application process fun! I would strongly recommend Amrit to anyone who’s looking for a consultant to help you get the best out of you and take you over the line.
I had just received a good number of rejections from schools in the US and Canada when I decided that I needed to find a consultant to help me perfect my application for the next application cycle. Speaking with different consultants, I narrowed it down on Amrit as he seemed the most positive and optimistic about my potential to convert to a good school. While other consultants were pushing me to retake the standardized tests so I had a better score to work with, Amrit was very respectful when I explained to him that I did not want to spend more time and effort retaking the test and wanted a school that would accept me for my score.
Through our conversations, Amrit was able to help pinpoint a couple of major mistakes I made while applying the previous year and helped me understand end-to-end what I needed to focus on for the upcoming cycle. For the next 3 months, he helped me to stay organized with deadlines and kept pushing me to go above and beyond in my essays. He instilled confidence in me that I could do better and really made me strive to network and truly understand why I was applying to the schools I had chosen which ended up translating well into my essays.
When comparing my essays to the previous year, I could see the huge improvements and how my candidacy was strengthened immensely. When it came to interview prep, his comprehensive prep plan was all I needed. I had never felt more prepared for an interview and actually even enjoyed the process. In the end – I secured an admit from Rotman with a scholarship after being rejected the year before.
Working with Amrit was truly enjoyable and really helped me regain the confidence I lost after the multiple college rejections I received the year before. The humor, honesty and positivity he brought to the process was a great balance to the anxiety that the application process can bring to some of us.
Amrit has a structured approach to the entire B-school process. The application is broken into components and a very thoughtful framework is applied to each component to create a holistic picture. Amrit works hard with you to make sure the picture is consistent and honest as you simultaneously work on multiple applications. Hence, you always know what to expect next and what is expected of you.
If you hit a snag, you can always count on getting a response from Amrit within 24-48 hrs. If you need more help, then you can easily book sessions with him to brainstorm ideas and structure your essays. Working sessions with Amrit taught me a great deal about writing and structure which eventually helped me develop a few applications on my own.
Amrit’s feedback is very straightforward and pragmatic. His patience and personal interest in you make him a perfect sounding board. Before you lose yourself in your version of a perfect world or self-doubt, he acts as a voice of sanity and yanks you back into reality making your application more authentic and genuine. Of course, the B-schools love it.
Amrit’s international experience, understanding of B-schools, career paths, and years of experience working help him stand out from other consultants. He is up to date with the changing expectations and priorities of different B-schools and keeps learning from each application and outcome. Hence, you will be working with a more experienced and refined version of Amrit than I did.
As a re-applicant who had received zero admits on the first attempt, I really wanted to find the best possible coach to guide me in what I wanted to be my last time applying for MBA.
After speaking to multiple consultants with strong track records, I decided to go ahead with Amrit because of:
a) His highly structured approach to working ensured a sharp focus on each component of the application which was broken down into manageable parts (resume, goals, school research, essays, video submissions, interviews).
b) His empathetic nature helped me connect with him and made me feel confident about my profile and chances of cracking some of the top US b schools.
c) His phenomenal educational and professional background allowed him to understand the nuances of my candidacy and bring out my best stories.
Amrit was always available to support me if I was feeling stuck in any part of the application and he ensured that we did as many iterations as needed to bring my application to its most perfect form possible. He provided valuable and honest feedback that ensured my essays were truly authentic in telling my story. His experience working with hundreds of candidates across industries also proved valuable in allowing me to portray my candidacy in the best possible way. Amrit’s tools, templates and frameworks were of high quality and ensured that I was always prepared to tackle every part of my MBA journey from essay writing to interviewing.
With Amrit’s help, I received interview calls from 4 top US b-schools and converted 3 of them – Yale SOM, UVA Darden, and Michigan Ross with scholarship! (Waitlisted at the 4th – Stanford GSB)
I am deeply grateful to Amrit for being by my side in this extremely stressful and high-stakes journey till the end. I would highly recommend Amrit to anyone willing to crack a top global B-school and who enjoys working in a structured manner.
Amrit is equal parts practical, creative, and motivational. I realized that after our first call, which I had set up after meeting half-a-dozen brand name consultants who strongly recommended applying to schools in the T10 – T15 range. He was candid about my candidacy for M7, methodically noted the pros/cons of my profile, and drew up a roadmap to target 3 M7s even before we formally started working together.
Throughout the application journey, Amrit was quite generous with his time and would offer frequent touchpoints to discuss potential stories, clear mental blocks, or simply brainstorm ideas for essays. We were able to seamlessly work across time zones as Amrit was super flexible about connecting on weekends and prompt with his responses.
Amrit is an effective storyteller and has a knack for identifying compelling stories. His experience in navigating the whole application process was invaluable to me since I could depend on his judgment on schools’ culture, ad-com’s preferences, and even my personal fit.
I initially connected with Amrit because of his pithy webpage and stayed with him for his no-nonsense, yet kind attitude, and expertise in helping candidates with complex profiles (in my case – an Indian candidate living in Canada wanting to study in the US).
Thanks Amrit for getting me into 2 M7s with substantial scholarships. I believe you deserve 50% of the credit for getting me into my favorite school, a case can be made for a higher credit percentage.
I spoke with 10+ admission consultants before meeting with Amrit, but following our conversation, I knew he was the one I wanted to work with because he was the only one who took the time to thoroughly grasp my narrative, background, and presented me with specific comments and a prospective roadmap (which was very reassuring)
Amrit approaches the entire process in a very systematic and efficient manner. I never had to follow up with Amrit on anything during the entire process. He almost always responded to my emails/documents within 24 hours. To top it off, Amrit is a really warm and easygoing person, making it very easy to connect with him and share personal stories and experiences (this is something I feel is very important for the application process) Coming from a competitive applicant pool, it was critical for me to stand out through my stories and experiences, and Amrit was fantastic in this regard—from digging up my best stories to bringing in school-specific insights, I especially appreciated his quality of being brutally honest with his feedback and pushing me to come up with the best version of my essays possible (for some essays he even did 7-8 iterations with me!).
Amrit stood out for two reasons: a) the school-specific knowledge he possesses, and b) availability to brainstorm and discuss essay ideas
Amrit was a continual source of encouragement and motivation throughout this arduous and challenging period. I would certainly highly recommend Amrit to any applicant interested in applying to business schools.
I’m not new to admissions consultants, used a US Consultant before I was recommended Amrit. However, the difference was stark. Previously (before the 2020 app surge) I was dinged after an interview. This time I received offers :), arguably during one of the harder years. I wish I was given Amrit’s reference earlier.
Amrit understood where I was coming from and was far more granular. After going ahead with Amrit, he explained the process and what the Admissions Committee looks for and where your profile fits best.
While the processes are pretty much standardized across admissions consultants, I felt we spent more time developing the overall strategic theme and connecting experiences. This foundation is ultimately what I feel helped develop a really strong application.
Overall he wasn’t a yes man to agree to any idea or thought I had. He would let me know whether something was not worth mentioning and more importantly would explain why it wasn’t worth mentioning in the application. Having said that it’s not that he was rigid, Amrit was also open to listening to suggestions and incorporating them into the applications.
Amrit helped bring out elements within my application to connect the dots. His help in explaining why I should mention or not mention a particular aspect was really beneficial. Because of that I could actually connect and understand what was required.
Turnaround time with Amrit was really quick, I would book time generally the previous evening for the following afternoon, and I always got feedback. Don’t think I ever had to wait for over 24 hours for feedback.
Interview preparation was targeted and there was a debrief after each mock on ways to improve. Looking at my notes/answer structure for the questions before and after interview prep, I was more self-assured.
Bonus points to Amrit since he was invested in the overall success and not limited only to the selected schools, I was provided samples for other schools – “My job is to get you into an MBA program.” I was applying on my own to some other schools for which the application was a mix of those I was doing with Amrit. I was provided with some samples. He could have made a sale or pushed for further services but didn’t.
For someone coming from a place where test scores were all that mattered and not aware of how the MBA apps actually work, Amrit is a godsend. He understands that a certain level of hand-holding is required and actually provides it. I can’t recommend Amrit enough and wish I had known of Amrit earlier. I would have definitely gotten in earlier using his application strategy.
You can’t go wrong with Amrit, you will definitely have a great application.
I reached out to Amrit after a terrible round 1, feeling extremely dejected. I had no MBA network and was clueless about the application process and desperately needed a guide. However, what I got was much more! A confidante, mentor and cheerleader who despite my average scores, non-IIT engineering background and non-traditional work experience never discouraged me from applying to the top M7s.
Amrit had an extremely systematic approach which helped immensely as I was in parallel trying to take the GRE again. He was also a big proponent of being authentic every step of the day which led me to produce essays that I was truly proud of, upping my confidence for every application. He brought out connections right from my childhood that I did not even know existed until we brainstormed and put pen to paper.
Through this process, Amrit not only coached me on how to approach the crazy application process better but also taught me how to portray myself in the best way – a life skill I know I can use forever. I got into 3 of the 5 schools I worked with him (Booth, Tuck, Yale) with scholarship and was waitlisted at the 4th (Stanford). I truly believe this would not have been possible without his help. Do not think too much! Get on board with Amrit!
Working with Amrit has been a great experience! I enrolled with him in late October 2020 for a competitive application season. To my delight, I received interview invites from two (Kellogg, Wharton) out of the three schools I applied to and converted one – Wharton!
Amrit’s stress on forming a goal statement early on pushed me to introspect, and his probing assisted me in condensing vague ideas and articulating them into more concrete plans. Further, he emphasized on speaking with several students and alumni, and he pushed me to action this, helping carve a well-rounded and thoroughly researched application! With well-drafted samples and his focus on impact in reviewing each line item, he assisted in transforming my resume into a much more compelling document.
Amrit is very approachable on call. Nine times out of ten, I could book his time within 24 hrs. This way of working was not only convenient but allowed me to build a rapport and express myself more freely, ultimately helping us land at the best anecdotes for essays. Having worked with several applicants over the years, he brings an ability to identify what works for which school adcom and what doesn’t. Additionally, his brutally honest line-by-line feedback on several iterations helped take the clarity and logical flow of essays to the next level.
In mock interviews and TBD’s, Amrit’s support helped me present a more polished and confident version of myself. Amrit has a friendly and humorous demeanor to top it off, making the entire application process more bearable and less grueling. I certainly recommend partnering with Amrit for your b-school applications and trust him to get you across the line!
I came from a banking background, with a prior India-MBA degree. I thus had many considerations when I decided to apply to blue-blooded B-schools in the US. Backed by few references, I reached out to Amrit, and it took me just about half an hour of discussion with him to decide that he’d be the best coach for me. I explained my prevarications to him, including my honest reasons behind pursuing the degree, my generic background in the Indian application pool, and my lack of experience in the co-curricular space.
Surprisingly, of all the consultants I spoke with, Amrit was the only one who lent a patient ear and gave me his honest opinions, and even a potential road map, even without any commitments from my side
What differentiates him from other consultants is not just his pedigree, but his ability to have the bigger picture in mind, and his willingness to always pull you back if you start to drift. He understood the vacancies in my application and pushed me to think about my entire life, both professional and personal. The most outstanding aspect about him is that during the process, he becomes more of a friend than a coach, and kicks you to push yourself when needed, especially when the process grows tiresome. His eagerness to revert with newer suggestions, and coaxing me to dig out achievements which I didn’t think mattered were what lent superiority to my applications, and I’m very thankful to him.
Lastly, he understands the importance of process more than the results, and I remember being contacted by him when I got dinged from some of my dream schools, and his words of encouragement about my effort were the only reason I had the courage to push myself again with the same energy. He turned my personal anecdotes of failures into stories that impressed the admissions teams of multiple schools. During the entire process, I evolved into someone who understood better the best reasons for a management degree.
I would recommend Amrit to anyone who thinks an honest consultant can make your application better. You can definitely trust him to make your application the best version of yourself.
My introductory call itself, with Amrit, convinced me that he is the mentor I needed to get a successful application.
What stood out in the engagement was Amrit’s quick turnaround (absolutely critical when you are balancing applications alongside work) and his incredible insights coming straight from his experience of having studied and worked outside India.
Amrit’s approach of probing made me reflect more deeply about my experiences in the context of the values I wanted to highlight to the schools, and his school-specific know-how helped in positioning my stories perfectly.
From narrowing down the final set of schools to building a seamless application pack – including the resume, essays, and even my communication with the school, Amrit was my soundboard throughout.
Amrit’s guidance on the interview preparation was particularly interesting. I had multiple mock rounds with him until all the rough edges were chiseled out. My real interviews felt like a smooth ride thanks to the extent to which Amrit had pushed me to better my answers and become comfortable with the unexpected questions.
I would strongly recommend Amrit to any applicant looking to apply to business schools – he will be as invested as you are in making your applications successful.
If I had to sum up my experience with Amrit – it’s like working with a thorough professional who knows what to do to get the best out of you. The more candid, honest, and thorough/diligent you are, the higher your chances of sure results.
I went to Amrit at the beginning of the round 2 season after a terrible experience with a significantly inexpensive and relatively unknown alternative. I hadn’t researched the MBA application process well and skimping on cost was the first mistake I made. Amrit is quality and hence the cost is justified. I wouldn’t change a thing about it.
Amrit is really great to talk to, easy-going and casual and the process does not feel taxing and formal. He is available regularly, has a very well-oiled workflow that works for many different types of candidates and will help you get into the groove of the MBA application process even as you hit the ground running.
A very important part of the MBA applications is standing out as a personable and authentic individual. Most people applying from a hyper-competitive country like India have fantastic jobs, 99%-percentile GMATs, and incredible international experience. Here, it becomes important to bring out an authentic story (or personable character) through the essays and this is where Amrit shines. I learned early on that the more I opened up to him and exhaustively discussed all possible life backgrounds and stories, the more personalized, moving, and powerful examples we were able to build to really craft a strong essay.
Amrit has been really accessible throughout the process and I’ve never had an occasion where I wished he was less busy/made more time for the queries that I had. I had plenty of queries, doubts, impostor syndrome attacks, and whatnot – but he was patient and empathetic throughout. At the end of the process, I’d made a friend and he even came to watch my band play when he visited Bangalore.
I’d highly recommend Amrit for a US MBA application process, he’s genuinely good and is guaranteed to get the best out of you and help your application stand out in the most authentic manner possible.
With 2 months to go for R1 deadlines, I started looking for US MBA admissions consultants. By speaking to a few MBA admits/students within my circle, I realized that I wanted to work with an admissions consultant who was: a) Honest about my chances of getting accepted to a top US B-school b) Genuinely interested in understanding my background and perspectives c) Going to critique my viewpoints while encouraging me to bring out the most unique stories d) Responsive in essay edits and available for quick sync-ups throughout the process
I had heard about Amrit from a few colleagues – they described him not only as a great consultant but also as a mentor who even helped them prepare for B-school life after getting admitted. After speaking to several consultants, I was very clear that I wanted to partner with Amrit in this comprehensive process.
Amrit’s approach to the application process is very structured – he broke it down into weekly sub-components (resume, goals, essays, video submissions) while being very particular about the quality of output.
He provided valuable feedback on my essays, critiquing my thinking and ultimately bringing out the reasons why I felt my story was unique. By encouraging me to dig deeper, Amrit pushed me towards becoming a better storyteller in my applications.
His willingness to always make time for quick discussions/essay edits and his ability to act as a sounding board whenever I was stuck, was instrumental in shaping up my applications well ahead of deadlines.
I received 2 interview calls in R1. His structured interview preparation was pivotal. Finally heading to Kellogg this year 🙂
To anyone who is wanting to crack the top US B-school admissions and enjoys working through a structured process – I definitely recommend partnering with Amrit!
I met Amrit at the beginning of what was to be my final attempt at shooting for a Top MBA Program. It is thanks to his strategic guidance, his thoughtful feedback, and his investment in my application that I am on my way to my Dream B-School (London Business School).
Here’s what I loved while working with Amrit:
1. Will-Do Attitude: When I received interview invitations from B Schools, Amrit unfortunately was hospitalized with illness. Yet he did not let this affect our preparation. I still remember the time he (unexpectedly!) called me from hospital so that we could practice a mock interview. I was mighty impressed – here was a professional that deeply cared for his clients.
2. Honest Feedback; Solution Oriented: Amrit provided direct, concise feedback – nothing sugar-coated, yet precisely what was necessary to improve my essay / interview quality. More importantly, Amrit provided powerful suggestions that really helped me reflect and craft a more compelling story.
3. Methodology and Turnaround time: Amrit has prepared guidance points for two critical components of the MBA application: (a) the essays and (b) the interview. These served as fantastic start points and really helped me channelize my efforts. Amrit also has a quick turnaround time – whenever I sent him a draft, he invariably provided feedback within 24 hours. This ensured I always remained “in flow”.
Here are a couple of suggestions I’d give to potential MBA applicants working with Amrit:
1. Be ready for hard truths: As mentioned above, Amrit pulls no punches when providing feedback but delivers it in a pleasant manner. He is also not satisfied until the essays / interview responses are “just right”. It is important to be mindful that his feedback is in your best interest, and that he will always brainstorm / provide suggestions to help improve your chances.
2. Time management: While Amrit is deeply committed, he is also a VERY popular coach. Nearer to the application deadlines, whilst I was always able to get time with him, it gets difficult to block popular timeslots. I’d, therefore, encourage an applicant to complete his / her application earlier to maximize his inputs and interactions.
Thanks, Amrit — for everything. You knew that my stakes were high and you went out of your way to deliver — I’m incredibly grateful!
When I started my MBA journey, I had two questions in my mind. Why a consultant? Why Amrit?
To succeed in any adventure, you need the right recipe and that is true for MBA admissions too. A consultant should know what the Admissions Committee wants, the Do’s and Don’ts, and based on his/her experience where your profile fits best.
Then the next question is Why Amrit?
I got his recommendation from one of my close friends who secured 3 admits with 75% scholarship at one. After my first interaction, I knew that he was the person I wanted to work with because he was honest about my chances and gave me some very interesting insights about my candidacy.
Working with Amrit has been a phenomenal experience as apart from 5 admits, this journey also drastically improved my storytelling skills. He always delivers an honest picture even if it is difficult to digest. At the same time, he encourages you to apply to stretch/dream schools but makes sure that you have a solid foundation in the other schools you are applying to.
There are many things that make him unique
-Very detailed (line by line) feedback on your essays. He ensures that for everything you say that it is specific, that you give a reason for it and demonstrates how it connects to your overall story.
– Preserving the essence of truth in your story, something the Admissions Committee values a lot.
– He has an uncanny ability to identify your most compelling stories. Often, he takes stories that I thought were insignificant or of not much importance and he helps you craft it in a manner that is impactful.
– Phenomenal patience. Some of the essays we did went to 10 iterations and he would still approach each draft with the utmost passion and patience.
What stood out most for me though was his empathy. I remember I was running short of time with the 3 school applications to be submitted in 3 days. Though Amrit’s schedule was packed with other clients, he stretched his time to do multiple iterations to ensure I submit the right content. He was even quite flexible to change the school at the last moment.
In nutshell, he is more than a consultant, I would call him a friend and a mentor for life with a specialization in MBA admissions.
I reached out to Amrit after getting dinged at multiple Top-10 schools the first time I applied. I spoke to multiple consultants before I went ahead with Amrit and what drew me towards him was his brute honesty when it came to evaluating my profile and earlier applications. He was immediately straightforward with my chances and was also flexible in the packages he offered, to suit your needs.
Amrit truly practices a “NO BS” approach and helps bring a lot of clarity to the application process. His frameworks and strategy documents developed over his years of experience helped to consolidate all my experience and using examples in my essay that brought out a variety of strengths and weaknesses. He is strong at structuring essays and resumes and highlighting what the applications team really wants to see.
He was very prompt in his responses (<24 hours) and was always available over Whatsapp in case of any urgent requests.
I ended up applying to 1 school (where I was a re-applicant) and got admitted with a significant scholarship!
Amrit was an exceptional partner in my business school journey! I had only a month to finish my applications and he gave it his all to ensure I submitted work of very high quality. His experience as a personal coach allowed him to ask me many probing questions that led me to introspect and formulate a coherent story. He was greatly helpful in my essay edits as he could typically turn a version around within a day with edits that not only addressed grammatical or word count issues but constantly questioned the story.
Most importantly, Amrit was always available which is especially critical when it is crunch time. The best example of this was when I decided to apply to a top business school a day before its deadline. Amrit without hesitation agreed to help me out and spent the entire day turning around essays and other materials with me. And there was no question about the quality of his work because I got the admit!
I would highly recommend Amrit as a business school counselor as he brings a holistic skillset to the table – he makes you introspect, engages in structured thinking, is always at-cause and empathizes with all your troubles as a past applicant!
The MBA application process is a journey and a daunting one at that. I was from an overly represented background and was not well versed in the application process of a US business school. More than a consultant Amrit is your friend, always looking out for the best for you and he made my journey easy and enjoyable as well. He was suggested to me by one of Kellogg admits from my company who herself sought Amrit after rejection in R1. I conversed with a number of top admission consultants in India and the US, and all tried to fit my story in their own cookie-cutter mold. But with Amrit, he wanted to bring out what was unique about my story.
Amrit started with understanding my career to date and analyzed critically my career goals to understand how an MBA would suit them. One of his top qualities is his ability to see right through the admission committee’s thought process and his phenomenal understanding of what different schools are looking for in potential admits. He has brilliant essay samples for all the business schools which helps you get started and provides you a flavor for what top schools are looking for. During the entire admission process, he molds your answers in every section into a format that best represents the story that you want to portray to the admission committee.
One of the best things with Amrit is he reads and provides feedback for all the material you send himself; I had many friends who hired other admission consultants and only for the final few edits they got to interact with their consultants. Amrit promised me initially to provide edits in one day a majority of the time, and he never he wavered from his commitment even at the peak of the application period. I remember he stayed awake for many nights but provided all the applicants with timely feedback. He reviews every line of the drafts you send and provides detailed line-by-line insights on what is working and what needs to be improved. He is always available even to solve small details in the application, I even called him for help for filling the awards section
I would highly recommend all the applicants is to hire Amrit as a consultant and rest assured you would get in one of the top schools!!
I was looking for a consultant to help me with my B-School applications and had heard about Amrit from two people in my network. I had reached out to a couple of consultants but finally decided to go ahead with Amrit.
Amrit knows the schools at a deeper level and understands what each school is looking for. I found his feedback on various aspects of the application, such as school selection, resume, essays, etc. really helpful. He has a very structured way of working. His structured approach saves time and is especially helpful if you are targeting to apply for 4-5 schools in one round.
Amrit also has an amazing response time (fewer than 24 hours on most occasions), which helped me maintain the pace of my applications. With his help, I applied to 4 schools in R1 and managed to get an interview call from all 4! I was accepted into 2 (1 with $$$) and wait-listed in 1. I did not apply to any other schools in R2.
I think what differentiates Amrit is his ability to flesh out your story in your own words from your life experiences. He takes good care of those big picture aspects well and sees to it that different pieces of your application fit in well together.
Overall, it was fantastic to work with Amrit! I would strongly recommend him to anyone who is considering working with an admission consultant.
I started my MBA application journey in October 2018. I had no clue of how the US MBA business works and was unsure of my capabilities before applying to the B schools. Me and Amrit had a long discussion, wherein Amrit asked me detailed questions about my professional and personal life. Amrit then helped me craft an Exhaustive Action plan, focussing on my strengths and weakness. He made me do a lot of research on my post-MBA goals. Slowly I started to carve out a story based on my professional and personal experiences and linked it to my post-MBA goal. Amrit was very instrumental in providing me feedback on my essays. His response was extremely prompt, direct and detailed. He always focussed on relating post-MBA goal to my prior experience which in my case was OIL and GAS. Amrit also encouraged me to do videos for my RICE and McCombs essay, which I was very reluctant to do in the beginning but in the end, found out that presenting myself in front of a camera is my strong point. For my interview preparation, Amrit gave me a very systematic document focussing on all the relevant points. This really helped me to cover all aspects of the interview and after that, I did mock sessions on skype with Amrit that really set me up for the interviews. In total, I applied to Kelley, Rice, McCombs, and NUS with Amrit and got interview invites from 3 schools except for McCombs. On a personal note, Amrit is extremely friendly in his approach. This made me at ease to ask him any kind of doubts I had throughout the process. Overall I extremely enjoyed working with Amrit, who not only helped me to get into my desired school but also helped discover some of my personality traits which I was unaware of. I thank Amrit with all sincerity and wish him well for his future endeavors.
The MBA application process can be quite intimidating and anxiety-filled, and it always helps to have someone in your corner. After a (perceptibly) disastrous set of results in Round 1, I contacted Amrit to be better prepared for Round 2 applications. That decision not only drastically improved the 2 applications I submitted in R2 but also helped convert both my R1 waitlists. I had a million doubts about the application process, which Amrit patiently addressed and helped me craft a coherent narrative for my essays. My essays clearly defined my goals and aspirations, my reasons for pursuing an MBA, and how they connected to my personal and professional journey. The biggest impact that Amrit had on my essays was proving why I was the right fit for the schools I was applying to. His approach is exceptionally thorough, and he made me research on schools extensively. He also completely overhauled my resume, making me focus on my achievements significantly better and highlighting areas relevant to my goals. All that hard work was worth it in the end; I was admitted to LBS, Booth and Kellogg. Heading to Kellogg with a merit scholarship and all thanks to Amrit!
After having gone through the application process once before, I was on the lookout for the ‘perfect’ consultant so that I wouldn’t have to go through the process once again. I was quick to decide on Amrit based on just one phone call I had with him, during which I found him frank, logical and friendly – a perfect balance one seeks to make the process most effective. Amrit’s frameworks were the game changer for me. They were tailored to fit for every school, logic-driven, unique, and easy to follow through. If there was one part of my application which improved significantly in my second attempt, it was the school research bit. Amrit not only helped me ace it with the help of his simple framework but also made me realize its importance. He has a very high bar for quality and he really pushes you beyond your capabilities. I had taken up a target of 6 schools in 2 months for R1. Although he might have been sure from the start about how unrealistic the target was, he still worked around a plan for me to reach it, given my eagerness. Halfway through I realized I was going too fast and decided to deprioritize, and Amrit’s strategy to split the 6 applications between rounds 1 and 2 came in very useful. I distinctly remember how Amrit pushed me to include a particular school in R1 because he knew of its importance in my list and thought my chances in R2 would be lower. On a personal level, Amrit was super chill to work with. He was flexible with his timings and had a surprisingly quick turn around time, despite multiple clients across time zones. I remember an instance when I asked him for a meeting instead of a call because I thought facetime would make the process more effective. He willingly agreed for it and even offered to do more such sessions in the future. In summary, a lot of things I learned from him go beyond just Business school applications. He even offered to help out with my plans pre and during MBA. I am confident of staying in touch with him for any advice I seek as I go down my professional path. I wish him all the best!
As a repeat applicant, I knew the pain of rejection. I met Amrit at an admissions event and saw the immense value he could add through my application process. A few things really stood out during my interaction with Amrit: 1. Amrit was genuinely interested in getting to know me. He understood what I wanted in terms of my career (sometimes better than I did) and was immensely helping in storyboarding and articulating a coherent application. 2. Amrit’s response time was under 24 hours. This really helped me fine tune my applications with multiple iterations. Amrit was very pointed with his feedback and pushed me to turn out the best application I possibly could 3. Amrit went way beyond what he had to do professionally. On the night of a tight deadline, he knew I was stressed out and was available for me throughout on phone, email, and WhatsApp. Amrit is incredibly easy to talk to so much fun to work with! With his help, I applied to 5 schools, secured interviews from 4 and got admitted to 3 of them.
I am a re-applicant and there was no doubt in my mind that I would be working with Amrit again through the process. The application process was very fun and easy-going experience driven by a few key factors that Amrit brings to the table – 1. He brings out your story: Amrit knows how to look at various elements of your profile and life experiences to bring out the right hook that will resonate with the ad-coms. This will be a rigorous and collaborative process where sometimes Amrit will not shy away from negating your ideas and sometimes he will bring out ideas that you would not be able to conceptualize standalone. What I really liked was that the ‘story’ process never ends – he will not end it at your goals but also push to bring it out in the interview, experience-based essays, etc. On one occasion, he helped me come up with what I would contribute the schools by stitching my work experience, goals and extracurriculars all in one. 2. He is a one-man army: Amrit helps you through the entire process – from goals to the application form to the interview. He knows all aspects of your application and thus can stitch it together very well. However, he will never give a go-ahead to any material unless he is completely satisfied with it. Doesn’t matter how many iterations have taken place, or how busy he is, he will always push to bring the material to best possible version. He will also adapt to your working style/time schedule to the extent feasible. Amrit has helped me bang out an application in 4 days when I was overburdened with work and has also pushed me to take more time to reflect when something wasn’t clicking/ the application was too complex. 3. He is a perfect blend of friend and advisor: No questions are stupid, and there is nothing he won’t help with. Additionally, working with him is fun! He ensures that you don’t feel the burden of the tedious application and makes it an easy and fun exercise. He also brings a lot of experience to the table in terms of exposure to different industries and his own MBA stint. (for one application, I referred to his essay for inspiration for a prompt). PS: he was my second call (after dad) when I got my admit into one of my priority 1 schools 😊 All in all, I would recommend Amrit. My outcome – 7 applications, 2 admits with some scholarships, 1 other admit and 2 wait-lists and I am very excited to join Ross this fall.
I started thinking about applying for my MBA in late October 2018 when it was getting close for Round 2. With a 710 GMAT and absolutely no knowledge of the application process, I was super nervous that I’d even make it in time. Quite serendipitously, I stumbled upon Amrit’s website. Reading through all his past client experiences, their selection records, and after an intro chat, I was convinced that I wanted to start working asap with this super cool, motivating and funny mentor. His first piece of advice for me – Improve my GMAT (considering I’m from an ultra-competitive pool). With under a month’s concerted effort and his advice on studying strategies, I improved to a 740 in mid-Nov ’18. Phew, what a relief! The very same day, we kick-started our engagement in a structured, time-calculated schedule. Amrit’s world-class pedigree (Cornell | Booth | McKinsey), his invaluable experience, and his dedication towards your goals combine to give you an unbeatable application experience. We sent in solid apps to five leading US schools, of which I received two interview calls – Booth, Darden and an admit from Darden with Full Scholarship! Yayy! Amrit works with you each step of the process, reviewing every line of the draft with razor-sharp insights. The outcome is a perfect deliverable that narrates your story better than you ever could yourself. Still, the highlight for me is that even under the tightest deadlines, I could approach him and take his feedback on the smallest of application items with ease. I think his unwavering commitment to our mission of realizing our max potential is what sets him apart. My advice – Forget any constraints, Amrit is a champion mentor and a friend. Trust him to get you through! 🙂
I am Amrit’s repeat customer! When I decided to apply to B-Schools for the 2nd time I was sure that I wanted to work with Amrit. It is important to build a rapport with your counselor, who can not only understand your story but is also able to embellish it. Amrit’s stellar pedigree puts him in a favorable position to provide such guidance. He has a structured approach with the aim to stick to the prompt received from schools. He will not approve of half-baked materials even in his busiest season. You benefit from multiple iterations of the draft without losing any time because of his ultra-quick response time. Unlike other counselors, once you have signed with Amrit the conversation is never transactional. You work as a team with Amrit acting as a perfect sounding-board of ideas. The entire application process is more streamlined as he helps across editing resume, essays, LORs and preparing for interviews. I strongly recommend Amrit to keep you motivated, relaxed and on-schedule for the MBA application process.
When I had started my applications journey, the only thing that I was certain of was that I definitely want to start my MBA the following year. Failure was not an option, and therefore I did not want to take any chances. I talked to multiple consultants over many weekends to find the right fit before I finally talked to Amrit. My conversation with him made me realize what exactly had all the other consultants lacked. Amrit had a genuine interest in my ‘success’. Not only did he have the knowledge and skills to help me, but also we together defined what success would mean for me. He advised me on which schools to apply while being open to what I thought. Amrit was very approachable throughout the process and finding time with him was never difficult. He is very professional about deadlines and we were always able to work through multiple iterations of drafts and brainstorming sessions until we both agreed that essays are in perfect shape. His mentorship and feedback after the interview invitations helped me land a top-12 offer and a full-ride from another top-20 school, despite the fact that I come from a very competitive Indian male engineer pool. Looking back, I find it tough to imagine receiving such offers without Amrit’s help.
I started the application process on my own before I wrote my GMAT and got in touch with Amrit based on a referral from a friend when I was facing difficulties navigating through different applications of each school. Even before starting the application process, Amrit tried to understand my career trajectory and what I was looking for from an MBA. Basis this, he emphasized that I chose schools based on my interest and not rankings, which I believe is the most crucial part of the entire process. I narrowed it down to two schools and Amrit made sure that I had great applications for both. I ended up getting interview invites from both and subsequently, Amrit put me in touch with students from both schools to get more perspective before the interviews. The best part about Amrit was that he let me stick to my story and goals, which helped me in my interviews, as I came across as a genuine candidate who had thought through her career aspirations.
I decided to apply to business school late in the application cycle for Round 1 – I knew very little about the process at the time, and yet working with Amrit over the course of a few months I ended up with offers from Wharton, Ross ($80,000 scholarship), and UCLA (full-ride scholarship). I talked to half a dozen consultants when I was first starting the process – Amrit was the only one who pushed me to really intentionally explore and articulate my career goals; he asked critical and insightful questions, and got to know my story as an applicant (rather than just a cursory review of my resume). Throughout the following few months, he kept me on track to hit all deadlines and gave me valuable feedback along the way on how to approach essays and interviews.
One of the best things about Amrit is that he does not compromise on quality. Irrespective of how many iterations you go through for an essay, he will maintain the same passion and intensity and has super quick response time. He has a great skill to identify which experience makes a more compelling story for different kinds of essays and gave helpful suggestions and new ways of looking at my experiences. During the course of my application cycle, there were a few instances where I was overloaded with work and hence was delaying my responses but he was the one pushing me so that I submit the best application possible. Also, Amrit is super friendly which makes it very easy to converse and identify what needs to go into the application. Finally, if it were not for Amrit, I would not have received multiple interviews from the top 15 schools and an admit with 50% scholarship from a top 20 school. Working with him has also prepared me well for the internship recruitment and has helped me land an internship with one of the biggest tech companies in the world.
The MBA application can be a daunting journey, but with Amrit´s help it felt much more manageable. At the end I have received offers from all four schools I applied to and even a few scholarships, and it would not have been possible without Amrit´s insights. As an experienced consultant, Amrit has a very methodical approach: we first started by completing reworking my resume, and only after crafting a solid narrative for my professional experiences did we start to brainstorm the essays, mission statements and overarching application packages. I was a bit of a slacker, and at times it was hard for me to juggle between the applications, a full time job, and other priorities in life. But Amrit constantly encouraged me to push through. By dicing the tasks into smaller, more digestible steps, he kept me on track with the progress without overwhelming my schedule. Amrit also stands out from other admission consultants in that he is extremely personable and easy to talk to. Working with him feels like talking to a friend. The conversations were very natural, sometimes jest-riddled, but always insightful. By going through my experiences, and sometimes challenging me to craft my stories in a different perspective, he helped me find a voice that really let my personality shine through in the applications. And this was one crucial element in my applications that I could not have otherwise incorporated had I flown solo. I would recommend Amrit to anyone who is remotely considering hiring an admission consultant.
When I started the process, I was apprehensive about working with a consultant as I received mixed reviews from colleagues. Being late in the admission cycle I decided to hire one and I was really lucky to get Amrit as talking to him was unlike any of the previous conversations I had while evaluating consultants. He was extremely patient to walk me through my queries and gave very pointed feedback that helped speed the tedious application process. I realized Amrit’s true value when I was able to apply to 6 schools and received interview calls from all but 1 school, because I used Amrit’s help with 5. I do believe his multi-industry and multi-country exposure makes him a great storyteller that is absolutely necessary while applying to international MBA programs.
I started my quest to find out a good consultant in May 2018, assuming I am early to do so. However, the process was way more daunting and time consuming than I assumed it would be. The problem was, because of lack of good consultants, a demand-supply gap is created, making the good consultants (many of whom I interacted) arrogant, and illogically pricy. Coming to the arrogant part, most of the consultants lack empathy for his/her clients. Most of the consultants I talked to in India are extremely rude and try to intimidate you, creating a situation in which you start lacking faith in your profile and think that without this consultant, it would really get difficult to get into your dream school. Talking about the pricing, the worst part was they will charge based on modules, such as INR X for 3 times resume review, INR Y for 5 times essay review etc. The consultants, who were saying that there aren’t any limitation on the number of times any document will be reviews, also clarified that there is always an unsaid limit on the same, given the huge number of applicants they receive. Lastly, even after all this if you decide to go with any of these consultants, they try to select schools which will in most of the cases will be lower than your expectations and most importantly lower than what you deserve. The idea is simple, they have to show numbers!! After taking multiple demos and talking to countless consultants, I came across Amrit Hassaram. His qualification was stunning, undergrad from Cornell, grad from Booth, ex Mckinsey, and then rich entrepreneurial experience. But one thing that impressed me the most, was that he has been a part-time standup comedian in the past, a hobby that developed him into a person who is fun to work with and way away than intimidating (Trust me you guys will need it during application process), and bring creativity at the same time, something different than most consultants and can be a game changer for your application. Second, coming to the pricing part, I haven’t seen such logical pricing ever. Sometimes its delusional as we have this stupid perception that More Expensive The Better!!! But trust me, with Amrit’s pricing, if you have time, you can apply to as many schools as you want without putting a hole in your pocket. But here comes the best part, Amrit does not charge based on which school you are applying to, how many iteration will be required to get the best version of you in the application, or any other illogical factor you must have heard from other consultants. In fact, when you think “Okay this is my 4th version of essay and it looks great and I am so happy with it”, Amrit will take it even to 10th version if he thinks it is not satisfying. So basically there isn’t any limit to the number of times your resume/goals/essays will be reviewed. And trust me, the results in the last are amazing. Last, Amrit is an enabler. Though he will make sure that your feet are on ground, he still encourages you to apply in your dream schools. You will feel in more control over your applications with him. To sum this up, Amrit is your guy if you are looking for a creative and fun consultant to work with and in the most logical price range. I applied to 7 schools with Amrit and got waitlisted in 2 before the interview. I got interview calls from three, and got selected in one with a 75% scholarship.
With Amrit, what you get is more than just a consultant. Given his experience in life coaching, working across a number of industries and being a Booth alum himself, he is able to add a lot of value to the application process. During the essay process, unlike most other consultants, Amrit is happy to give all the time needed to perfect the essay drafts, version after version. Few people get it right in the first few times, but for someone like me who needed more help, Amrit proved to be a great choice. Amrit helped me a lot for the interview prep, especially for the HBS interview. Having spent so many years in US, he was able to conduct mock interviews which are very close to the actual ones.
Amrit understands international schools and especially their ad-coms very well. He makes you think hard and discover your own self. In a few meetings, he understands your personality and goals and makes the application process enjoyable instead of stressful. He is very supportive and does not judge you but he also gives you honest feedback so that you keep strengthening your application. He will not accept your essays until he is 100% satisfied with it. I remember one incident where Amrit was going through one of the essays that we had worked on few months ago and he wasn’t happy with it, so we fine-tuned the essay just few days before the deadline. I did many mock interviews with him, in which he grilled me on every aspect and provided feedback which gave me a lot of confidence going in to the actual interview. This helped me get a good conversion ratio and I was spoilt for choice by the end of the season. Amrit’s involvement is not limited to getting you admitted, he also provides genuine career advice. If you are looking for help with your MBA applications, I would highly recommend working with Amrit to maximize your potential.
I am going to break-down this review into three sections: 1. Availability: When I started my application process, I had questions every 30 minutes. One thing that clearly stood out about Amrit was his willingness to jump on a call no matter how occupied he was or what time of the day it was. MBA app process is super taxing, you need a support system to be successful – Amrit is that person. 2. Feedback Mechanism: He does not sugar coat the feedback. If something does not make sense in your essay, Amrit will highlight it. Having said that he will also ensure that you don’t have to change your essay completely maintaining the authenticity of the essay. 3. Understanding of Indian Applicants: Though Amrit had minimal prior experience of working with Indian applicants, he ramped up quickly during the process, ultimately finding the ideal way to portray an Indian applicant in front of the ad-com. This was possible because he was open to suggestions/feedback from me as well as other consultants in his network. A characteristic that I highly appreciated.
I highly recommend Amrit for 3 reasons:- 1) His passion for career coaching 2) His thoughtfully catered personalized approach in presenting your story uniquely 3) His success rate (duh!!!) The 1st time I talked to Amrit was around August’16, I was just another lost (read only high level idea about application process) working professional hoping to make into an elite business school. I suffered from 2 more handicaps – being quite late to the process as I gave GMAT in July’16 and being an International from India where its hard to stand out from the large pool of smart aspirants. After a lot of research and taking to few consultants, I came in contact with Amrit and we instantly clicked. His passion for coaching aspirants was apparent from his enthusiasm. In my 1st consultation, he reviewed my profile and gave me tips right away on how to stand out in the applicant pool using my background. I decided to go with Amrit for my applications and decided to apply to 5 schools. As I saw my CV develop over next few days, I was already feeling more confident. The brainstorming sessions helped me figure out what I actually want to do with my career and also how to put them in most emphatic and result oriented manner in my applications. It was Amrit who suggested applying to UCLA based on my strong inclination towards tech. He gave a very nice structure to my story including a brief job change thereby making it a continuum. One of the best thing with Amrit was his response time; at times he was more proactive than me in my application. It seems that he has successfully cracked speed with quality formula. As a result I got an admit from UCLA with $40k scholarship in R1 itself. It was his mock interviews which made my actual interview a cakewalk. Amrit didn’t only help me but one of my fellow admits too indirectly as I helped him prepare for interview for UCLA with all the tools Amrit taught me. Hence, I would highly recommend Amrit to anyone looking to get in an elite B-School with scholarship and want professional consultant with a personal feel.
With an apprehension of how a consultant could help me write my own story, I spoke for the first time to Amrit. However, I felt that he genuinely tried to understand my journey as a friend and mentor. At the end of that first conversation, he gave me an honest picture of strengths and weaknesses in my profile. At that point, I was confident that Amrit would be the best guide to navigate the tedious process B school application process. With a relatively low GMAT I got an admit from 2 (Tuck and Fuqua) of the 3 schools in R1 itself. Amrit’s organized yet personalized approach was an immense help. Starting from resume to having a proper format for every essay and being confident at an interview, Amrit is truly a perfectionist. I remember that when I gave up on one of my essays, he pushed me to ensure it was the perfect version. I believe his ability to ensure that people achieve their maximum potential has helped me put my best foot forward. Thank you for being my sounding board throughout the process.
For me Amrit was not just a consultant but was more like a friend. Every conversation with him was like speaking to your mentor whom you have known for sometime. During one of my initial calls with him, I remember how we spoke for over 60 minutes to discuss things that interested me, which eventually helped me realize my long-term goal. All throughout my application process, he put a lot of emphasis on being specific and making everything result oriented. He helped me cut down my 3-page CV into a single page crisper version, which I thought was impossible to do. He stayed patient with me throughout the process and always gave his most honest opinion – something that really assisted me while taking my decisions. His continuous feedback helped me become more confident while writing essays, due to which I was also able to tell my story better. I really connected with his working style and am glad to have gotten an opportunity to work with him!
I began my application-prep with little knowledge of the process, and was looking for a consultant who could give it to me straight and bring out the best in me. After my first call with Amrit, I was more than convinced that I’d made the right choice! Amrit has a deep knowledge of what each school is looking for and an uncanny knack of effecting deeper introspection. His extremely friendly nature and incisive questioning style created a comfortable space for me to introspect, and helped me build intensely personal applications. Amrit has a truly international background, and this helps him neutralize country-specific idiosyncrasies that may have been overlooked by another consultant – evidenced by the several “moments of truth” during our conversations. Whether it was the 3am calls or several rounds of interview prep, Amrit went above and beyond to bring out the best in me. I was often left pleasantly surprised to find myself exceeding even my own expectations! I see Amrit as more than just an admissions consultant. He is a life coach who helped me become more self aware, and thereby tell my story with more conviction. Lastly, Amrit helped me realize my long-term aspiration of going to Kellogg. However, I will carry the lessons learnt while working with him for life.
