JD Admit at HLS in deferral currently, looking to pursue a joint program. I think that PE is a field where the business and legal skill sets overlap constantly, and I want to be able to bridge that gap. Additionally, a former Jeopardy! contestant who loves using trivia as a means of connecting people.
I hope to finish my JD/MBA program and enter back into the private equity space with a focus on industrials, infrastructure, or B2B services. I hope to build on my experience and round out my perspective on where value can be found and created in businesses, especially with regards to end consumers.

Hi, Mr. Jeopardy! Julie-Anne Heafey here with mbaMission. Wow, you clearly have some outstanding and unique elements to your candidacy and a deferred admission already to Harvard Law School…your application will likely make the admissions committee sit up and take notice. You can’t apply this spring because HBS got rid of R3 for already-working folks a few years back….so I imagine you are applying this fall? Are you starting HLS this fall or would you be working another year? As I’m sure you know, HBS will evaluate your candidacy entirely on its own merit for the business school without too much joint degree consideration (they’ll notice it, but it won’t sway them by itself). As I’m sure you know, HBS will evaluate your candidacy entirely on its own merit for the business school without too much joint degree consideration (they’ll notice it, but it won’t sway them by itself). Your work experience thus will matter just as much as it does for any MBA applicant. You’re a little light on years of experience for HBS, but demonstrate strong impact for the time you’ve been there, and I think your odds of at least an interview are good. I’m not sure which firm you’re at or whether there’s a pipeline into HBS, but those factors can help you too. If you get an interview, you’ll need to hit a tricky balance of confidence and thoughtful competence without arrogance. The interview is quite important there. Good luck!
Mr. Jeopardy, it’s Lisa Cummings of Stratus Admissions. With your stats I think you have a good chance of winning the Daily Double of admittance into HBS to compliment your offer at HLS ! Congrats on your law school spot! Your stats will put you at or near the top of the pile even at HBS. Given you have deferred HLS, when is your target MBA entry year? Any thoughts of applying in a late round this spring? You Jeopardy story certainly could make for a fun interview but I would like a clarification on your work experience, more specifics on your role and responsibilities. What impact have you had so far? Any opportunities for professional leadership? Your post-degree goal seems very …

Kudos for your work with foster kids, that is an underserved group that really needs solid advocacy and support. How/why did you get involved work with that group? Best of luck!
