Hi Mr. League Commissioner, This is Debbie Choy, Senior Consultant at mbaMission. I think your career goals are quite unique! Sports management is definitely an underrepresented industry for MBA grads. Given your personal interests, I think it makes sense. That said, the Admissions Committee (AdCom) will want to see that you’ve taken some steps to help in your career pivot. For example, have you made any contacts in the industry who might help you secure a future internship? Have you identified what jobs in the industry would allow you to not only leverage your MBA knowledge, but also the strong finance and accounting skills you have learned through your current job? Hi, it’s Jennifer Jackson from Stratus Admissions. You’ve got some impressive accomplishments! I think your GPA and expected GMAT score will be competitive for Johnson. I love how your goal relates to what you’re clearly passionate about in your free time — sports! I recommend including a function when you name your ST goal. Perhaps a strategy role? Also I suggest saying you need the MBA not only for quant/analytical skills but for leadership and management skills. If you want to become a commissioner someday you’ll need to learn to motivate and inspire teams of people and an MBA program will help you begin to gain those skills. I also love seeing experiences of mentorship, and in your case it’s through two avenues so be …

Perhaps you’ll be needed to mentor MBA students in accounting (as a journalism major I could have used it!). I think you have a good shot at Cornell!
