Currently one of the 3 investment analysts on a 150 mn+ long-short fund. Initiated primary research for the firm’s first activist investment, and continue to serve as the lead research analyst for the fund’s activist engagement projects. Paid my way through high school and college independently, and completed paying my student loans as of Sept.
My post-MBA goal is to transition into portfolio management and activist investing with ESG focus in emerging markets. I want to democratize ESG assessment metrics and mobilize meaningful reporting and CSR initiatives through shareholder activism in markets where CSR is still nascent/nonexistent.

Hi Ms. PoliSci to Hedge Fund! This is Kate Richardson with mbaMission. I have to say I’m surprised the community is rating your odds so low! Perhaps they are thinking of Stanford / Harvard only where odds are pretty tough (7% / 12% acceptance rates). Otherwise, your GPA / GRE stats are excellent and above average for those top schools. Your experience as a 1st gen student and supporting yourself is very admirable, so …

Your experience as a 1st gen student and supporting yourself is very admirable, so definitely find a way to weave that into your story. I’m putting your odds above Wharton’s 22% acceptance rate, but I think with a bit more work experience / leadership, those odds could go up even more. Good luck!
