Hi Ms. Supply Chain Sustainability. Melisa here form Stratus Admissions. I think you’ve chosen a great target school in Foster! As I am sure you know that an MBA application is a lot about explaining your story and why MBA for you – I have some suggestions on where you could dig a bit deeper and pull out your authentic story. Let’s start with your work experience, it looks like you’ve transitioned from engineering to a more managerial role. Have you been in your most recent role for 4 years? If so, you will want to show your increased responsibility over that time. Do you manage a team? Budgets? Projects? And how have those responsibilities changed over time. And do you have supply chain responsibilities …
And do you have supply chain responsibilities in your current role? Not knowing your current responsibilities, I am wondering why supply chain/demand planning? Have you been exposed and wanting to learn more? Or have you been working within and wanting to grow? Whether your move is a growth within your current role, pivot or change needs to be understood by admissions. What has inspired you to work in supply chain? Also, where do you see yourself long term? COO? CSO? Programs are also going to want to understand your leadership potential. It looks like you’ve done some CSR work at your current company. Were you involved at university? If so, you will want to highlight this to show that it is likely you will be involved during your MBA. From a quant perspective, again, I think Foster is a solid school for you. Not sure if you translated your Indian GPA to a 4 pt scale, but you will not need to do this for schools. Assuming you are first class and your quant score is solid within the 710, you are solidly in Foster’s range – so it is telling a compelling and authentic story of where you want to go post MBA that will help you stand out. I also really like Tepper for you. Ross, NYU and Kellogg will be more stretches – so make sure you get to know the schools well and sell them on your fit for the program.
