About the Program

The online MBA program at Rutgers Business School is a top 100 online MBA program and relatively inexpensive compared to other programs on the market. The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business-accredited program is an extension of its top-ranked full-time MBA program. At 66%, the program’s acceptance rate is standard for most online MBA programs. The school requires at least a 2.9 undergraduate GPA from an accredited university for consideration, but prefers a 3.2. For last year’s entering class, the average undergraduate GPA was 3.2. Average age of students currently enrolled is 33. Students may enter during one of three intake dates, with the first being in September. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.

Founded in 1766, Rutgers University is the prominent public research university in New Jersey. Much more recently, the university took some programs to an online model. Now, the school boasts nearly a dozen online bachelors and masters programs. Specific to the business school are the online bachelors degree and MBA. Students in the online program have the opportunity to get to know classmates through the online courses, which the school says is the best way to network while in the program. After the program, school officials say, graduates have access to the university’s extensive alumni network, which is near half a million alums globally.

Once in the program, students must take four foundation courses. Students with previous advanced degrees may apply to waive those courses. After completion of the foundation, students must take 11 core courses that are required. Those courses range in topics from corporate social responsibility to international business to business analytics….

Once in the program, students must take four foundation courses. Students with previous advanced degrees may apply to waive those courses. After completion of the foundation, students must take 11 core courses that are required. Those courses range in topics from corporate social responsibility to international business to business analytics. After completion of those courses, students may choose three electives. Students may also choose between four specific and focused learning areas, includingBusiness Analytics, Digital Marketing, Investments & Private Wealth Management, and Strategic Leadership. All told, the program takes students two to five years depending on the pace in which the students complete the courses.
Throughout the program, students may also tap into the school’s career office with job placement assistance. The school also helps students match mentorships with professors or other current students.

While not the cheapest online MBA degree on the market, school officials say the current return on investment for the Rutgers online MBA is around 169%. According to the school’s website, those completing the program in California have the highest salaries at more than $100,000. Graduates in Florida have the lowest salaries at just under $73,000. In all, the program is a good choice for anyone looking for a flexible online MBA option.
