California Lutheran University’s School of Management sits in Southern California and attracts students from all over – especially from California. The flexible MSM program also offers the option for students to complete their degree entirely online.

“The M.S. in Management program is designed for students who have an undergraduate degree in fields not directly related to business or management. The program provides an introductory education into the business world. It’s an excellent option for recent graduates who want to earn a specialized degree that can be tailored to their career goals. This program provides the knowledge and the acumen that students need for management-level positions,” says Ali Akbari, PhD Professor of Business Administration.

The first MSM class graduated in 2017, and the 12-month program usually has 25-30 incoming students throughout its multiple annual entry points.

Students need to complete 10 courses designed to provide a solid foundation in management for advancement in non-traditional business careers. Three are foundational – Accounting, Economics, and Business Statistics – six are core courses – Enterprise Management, Organization and Strategy, Information Technology Management, Organizational Behavior, Business Ethics and Law, Marketing Management, and Financial Principles & Policies – and the last is an experiential capstone – an internship or international travel experience.

Internships are a great way for students to gain work experience in some of the area’s top companies, including Citizens Business Bank, PennyMac, United Way, Pure Spectrum, and J.D. Power. The study abroad route offers MSMs opportunities to gain international experience and expand their global network through travel seminars to China, Thailand, Vietnam, France, England, Germany, Austria, Czech Republic, and Australia.

As with all Cal Lutheran programs, MSMs receive individualized support and resources to help them reach their academic goals, and networking opportunities for career advancement.

The School of Management hosts a series of popular events throughout the year designed for students to interact with business and community leaders. Events include the Entrepreneur Speaker Series, PRiME Competition, New Venture Competition, ACG Cup, Drinks with the Dean, and more.
