About the Program
The MS Business Analytics degree focuses on the exciting and fast-growing field of “big data.” Merging developments in marketing and customer analytics with operations research, business analytics, aspects of computer science and statistical methods, Leeds’ program offers a technical, quantitative, and statistically intensive curriculum designed to train specialists in turning “big data” into business decisions.
Two tracks are offered: Marketing or Accounting/Risk.
Program Format and Schedule
All students must complete seven required courses including: Survey of Business Analytics, Data Systems, and Advanced Statistical Analysis. Those on the Marketing track must also take classes including Market Intelligence and Digital Marketing. Meanwhile those on the Accounting/Risk track take courses including Audit & Assurance and Accounting Ethics.
In addition to the academic coursework, students take four enrichment seminars in topics ranging from teamwork and leadership to ethics and corporate social responsibility, which help incorporate professional development into the academic experience of a Leeds “whole student,”.
Students also embark on an experiential project, which pairs them with clients in the industry to work on important, practical problems in business analytics. Students work under the supervision of faculty and meet together weekly to discuss progress, jointly work on problems, and to share experiences. This hands-on analytics project management experience prepares graduates to make an immediate meaningful contribution in the workplace.
