Best Part of the Job: Students

Worst Part of the Job: I set out to be Professor of Economics at a major university when I was 17. No man can ask for more than to get his wish.

When he’s not teaching MBA classes at the University of Maryland Smith School of Business, Professor Peter Morici can likely be found on the small screen. The bow-tie wearing economist is a frequent guest expert on CNN and other prominent business news networks. Having written 18 books and lectured at more than 100 universities worldwide, this former director of the Office of Economics at the U.S. International Trade Commission is a frequently looked-to expert on economic policy and international economics. He has imparted his wisdom of macroeconomics and trade and regulatory issues to leading corporations and governments. He also serves on the Reuters macroeconomic forecasting panel.

Morici is a perpetual columnist and contributor to national news media. His candid and sometimes eye popping views on the state of the economy (he recently accused President Obama of courting a second recession and openly supported the idea that social security was a Ponzi scheme) are consistently found in the pages of the most widely read business publications.

Students Say:

“Professor Morici tackles the big issues in global economics and holds no punches. His teaching style is energetic, exciting, and confrontational. Students are sure to leave his class with a greater understanding of how international business works in the real world.”

“Professor Morici is a dynamic teacher who commands the attention of the class with his ability to relate the material to the real time business environment. He is a well seasoned instructor who is able to successfully combine years of experiential knowledge with continual improvement of his courses to provide the best learning experience for his students.”
