2016-2017 MBA Admissions Events: A School-By-School Listing

eVENT

There is never a perfect time to visit campus, let alone study for the GMAT or write essays. For busy and ambitious young professionals, there is always another deadline to meet or quota to beat. Thankfully, most prospective candidates don’t need to hit campus to get a taste for the MBA life. Instead, business schools are heading out to see them.

Indeed, August marks the kickoff of the annual off-campus road shows. From Seattle to Shenzhen and Minneapolis to Melbourne, admissions representatives are fanning out across the globe to meet with prospective full-time, executive, and online MBAs. They may be part of large sponsored events like Forté Forums, or more intimate information sessions or meetups. Some can be as simple as webinars or online chats. Many times, they target specific populations like military veterans, minorities, or the LGBT community.

For many applicants, these events, held in everything from Hyatt hotels to McKinsey offices, are a chance to size up a program for fit. They can meet with decision-makers to get a feel for a program’s culture and values — invaluable insights for drafting effective essays. More than starting a dialogue and getting answers, this face time enables attendees to develop relationships and make strong early impressions that can give them a leg up when adcoms meet to decide. Better still, admissions events are a natural spot to grow a network and nurture advocates among school alumni and even students, further increasing odds for admission.
