Fun fact about yourself: I competed on a semi-professional Latin team performing in Canada and across the East Coast. 

Undergraduate School and Degree: Bellevue University, B.S. Project Management

Where was the last place you worked before enrolling in business school? I worked at Leidos, a US defense contractor, and I was a Senior Cyber Security Engineer.

Where did you intern during the summer of 2022? Because NYU Stern’s Andre Koo Technology and Entrepreneurship MBA Program is only 12 months, it doesn’t include a traditional summer internship. However, we do engage in Stern Solutions experiential learning projects with companies throughout the program, so the internship is, in a way, built in. I also did complete a full-time internship in the fall semester at Splunk as a Product Manager while I was taking classes.

Where will you be working after graduation? I will be recruiting in the spring, as is typical with Stern’s one-year Tech MBA.

Community Work and Leadership Roles in Business School:  Tech MBA class representative in Student Government, where I focus on integrating our program with the broader Stern community.   

Which academic or extracurricular achievement are you most proud of during business school? I am most proud of organizing networking events with our Part-time MBA Program to allow Tech MBAs to meet the broader Stern community, giving them additional contacts for referrals when we start recruiting.

What achievement are you most proud of in your professional career? During my internship, I built a new research tool on my personal time to combine Salesforce, Jira, and telemetry data (product usage data). This pushed me to take a product from ideation to deployment in three months.

Why did you choose this business school? I wanted to expand outside of the defense contracting world by working for the government. NYU Stern gave me an expedited option for a one-year, full-time Tech MBA program. This program gave me the hard skills to do basic engineering where I don’t have to rely on engineers to get help with SQL and python.

Who was your favorite MBA professor? Jessy Hsieh because of her ability to connect with her students on a personal level. She makes herself available for exploration hours to allow students to reflect on school, but also allows them to think about what they want in the future. She does an amazing job at educating students and mentoring them through their careers.

What was your favorite course as an MBA? The Makhoul Family Leadership Fellows Program course is my favorite class. It is the perfect class to practice self-reflection as a leader to figure out why you lead the way you do. This class brings in actors to simulate different challenging situations you might encounter in a corporate setting as a leader, allows you to practice in real-time how you would respond, and gives you feedback on how to handle these situations better.

What was your favorite MBA event or tradition at your business school? I love our Stern Social events because they highlight our community in this program. We meet up monthly as a school to connect with classmates outside of our blocks whom we may not have met otherwise.

Looking back over your MBA experience, what is the one thing you’d do differently and why? I would have had more coffee chats with my professors. At Stern, we are lucky to have so many amazing professors. I would have talked with them more to figure out their views on how the business world is shaping in a one-on-one setting.  

What is the biggest myth about your school? The biggest myth is that Stern is only for finance. Stern has numerous professors with STEM degrees and other backgrounds. This allows Stern to offer more hard-skills classes, in which I learned SQL, Python, Data Science, and more.

What surprised you the most about business school? How strong the community is in this program. With the Stern brand it’s easy to organize a coffee chat with alumni.

What is one thing you did during the application process that gave you an edge at the school you chose? In my essays, I made sure to connect how this MBA program would aid me in transitioning from the career I had before starting the program to the career I wanted after graduation.

Which MBA classmate do you most admire? I most admire Neal Ryan. I don’t throw the term “genius” around lightly, but if he tested for it, I’m sure he would fall in that category. The technical knowledge that he brings to the table is a huge asset to our Tech MBA cohort.

What are the top two items on your professional bucket list? Obtain a leadership role in a Fortune 50 tech company with a focus on product management, where I can use your product management, technical, and leadership skills to drive business growth and innovation.

Donate my time and expertise to a nonprofit organization that focuses on technology training for underrepresented communities, helping to close the digital divide and provide equal opportunities for everyone

What made Reggie such an invaluable addition to the Class of 2023?

“Reggie is a fantastic student and an involved leader of his Cohort. The best way to describe him is as the “community glue” that keeps his Cohort strong and brings students from other programs into the fold. One of my favorite anecdotes about Reggie reflects on our first conversation during Orientation; he told me that he had set up a meet-up in Central Park before the Tech MBA program even began, to ensure that classmates felt excited about a new chapter in New York City. During this time at Stern, he has served as the Tech MBA President as part of Stern’s Student Government, which reinforces his focus on community. In that role (and outside of it), he has built strong connections with leaders of other programs at Stern and has held events to connect different populations of students. On top of this, he has thrived in competitive internships (Splunk) and Stern Solutions experiential learning coursework with leading companies (Pfizer).”
