Aside from your classmates, what was the key part of IIM Calcutta’s MBA programming that led you to choose this business school and why was it so important to you? Aside from my classmates, the key part of IIM Calcutta’s MBA programming that led me to choose this business school was the International Immersion Program. This program allows students to study abroad at one of IIM Calcutta’s partner schools. I believe that this is an essential experience for anyone who wants to become a global leader.

The International Immersion Program gives students the opportunity to experience a different culture and learn about different business practices. This is a valuable experience because it helps students to develop a global perspective.

What has been your favorite course or extracurricular activity at IIM Calcutta? What has been the most important lesson that you have learned from it? My favorite extracurricular activity at IIM Calcutta has been the Frisbee competition. I had never played Frisbee before coming to IIM Calcutta, but I decided to try it because it seemed like a fun way to meet new people and de-stress.

The most important lesson that I learned from the Frisbee competition is that it is important to have fun and enjoy the experience. I didn’t win the tournament, but I still enjoyed the experience of playing with my teammates and learning a new sport.

What has been the best part of studying business in Kolkata? Kolkata is home to many top business schools, including IIM Calcutta, which is ranked among the top business schools in the world. The quality of education that you can receive here is second to none. The faculty here are experts in their fields and are dedicated to helping students succeed.

On one of our cost projects, we went to the Joka Industrial area and interacted with many different types of industry owners and employees to understand their costing. It was my first on-field experience for me. Getting out into the field and seeing how businesses operate in the real world is always valuable.

Describe your biggest accomplishment in your career so far: Identified an existing major premium calculation coding error that could have had significant financial implications. I provided the details to the client and, upon receiving confirmation, took corrective actions to fix the issue at the earliest. This helped in preventing potential legal and financial liabilities, and I received client appreciation for my pro-activeness.

Describe your biggest accomplishment as an MBA student so far: Applying concepts learnt in finance courses to real-life company’s cost structure and recommend suggestions on how to optimize.

What is your class’s favorite hangout away from school? Why do you gather there? Apart from the usual hangout spots like Park Street and South City, a beloved haunt is a charming Puchka Stall just outside the campus. This unassuming stall has become a cherished gathering spot. The allure of indulging in the delectable Puchkas draws us out of the campus, offering a delightful opportunity to savor Kolkata street food.

As we stand around the stall, engaged in lively conversations and laughter, we’re not just relishing the flavors of the puchkas but also creating cherished memories and fostering strong bonds with our classmates. With each flavorful bite, we share anecdotes, discuss coursework, and exchange ideas in a relaxed setting.

What do you hope to do after graduation? After graduation, I aim to leverage my MBA education to secure a fulfilling and challenging product manager role within a dynamic and innovative company. With my strong analytical skills, strategic thinking, and business acumen, I plan to excel in driving product development and strategy.

Furthermore, I intend to use my MBA lessons to bring a holistic perspective to product management, considering the technical aspects and the financial, market, and competitive dimensions. I plan to implement data-driven decision-making processes, conduct thorough market analysis, and identify strategic opportunities to optimize the product portfolio.

What advice would you give to help potential applicants gain admission into IIM Calcutta? GMAT score is not the only criteria for getting an interview call and admit. Focus on creating an impactful Statement of Purpose (SOP) and obtain letters of recommendation from individuals who can provide insights into your academic and personal qualities.
