Austin is a great place to earn an MBA because it offers a perfect balance between life and school. Maintaining a life outside of your studies is essential to your success within the program. Aside from your classmates and location, what was the key part of Texas McCombs’ MBA programming that led you to choose this business school and why was it so important to you? I chose Texas McCombs for the robust opportunities within the sport industry. The Sports, Entertainment, & Media Association (SEMA) and Business of Sport Summit (BOSS) provide invaluable experience. Being part of a school that emphasizes excellence in sports is important to me, as it allows me to gain valuable insights, experience, and connections before entering the sports industry. What course, club or activity excites you the most at Texas McCombs I am excited to join the Sports, Entertainment, & Media Association, participate in the Business of Sport Summit (BOSS), and the Food and Beverage Club. Looking at your recruitment, what was the moment when you realized Texas McCombs was the right program for you? Why? I realized McCombs was the right school for me when I attended a Texas Veterans in Business (TViB) before applying to any schools. The veteran community at McCombs is unparalleled – everyone was incredibly kind, helpful, and genuinely invested in each other’s success. I wanted to be in a collaborative and uplifting environment, and I knew I would find that at McCombs. Describe your biggest accomplishment in your career so far: The biggest accomplishment of my career was being named to the roster as an alternate to the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Women’s 7’s Rugby Team after only three years of playing the sport. This feeling of accomplishment comes from the fact that I was named to the team not only for my athletic performance but for my positive impact on the team’s culture. Looking ahead two years, what would make your MBA experience at McCombs successful? The support from my classmates and the resources McCombs offers will make my MBA truly successful. For the industries I’m pursuing, success isn’t achieved alone, and the same goes for an MBA. I know my classmates and I will rely on each other to navigate challenges and celebrate our victories, and to me, that is what will make it memorable. Additionally, McCombs and the University of Texas provide incredible resources that deepen your understanding of your goals and set you up for success to achieve them.
