The Yale School of Management is regarded as a purpose-driven program. What is your mission? How will your MBA at Yale SOM help you fulfill that mission? Broadly, my mission in life is to leverage my strengths and passions to positively impact the world in some capacity. As a self-taught artist, I’ve become passionate about the visual arts, and I believe there are opportunities to drive innovation in the space, as the ways in which people interact with art continue to evolve. In addition, I’d like to create opportunities for more artists to build sustainable careers while working to make the space more equitable for artists from underrepresented backgrounds. Yale SOM offers me a unique opportunity to strengthen my foundational business skills, while leveraging the network to pivot into the arts sector and begin working toward fulfilling my mission.

Aside from your classmates, what was the key part of Yale SOM’s MBA curriculum or programming that led you to choose this business school and why was it so important to you? With Yale being one of the greatest higher education institutions in the world, the ability to take electives across the broader Yale campus is one aspect of the program that appealed to me the most. Given my undergraduate business major, I believe that taking classes outside the business school will significantly enrich my educational experience. I’m especially excited about the opportunity to take courses at the Yale School of Art and explore offerings from other schools as well. This interdisciplinary approach will not only complement my business education but also align closely with my professional goals in the arts sector.

What course, club, or activity excites you the most at Yale SOM? I’d love to join the Nonprofit Board Fellows program to support the local community and learn more about how nonprofits operate. I’m particularly interested in sitting on the board for a local arts organization. I’d also love to take the Entrepreneurship in the Art Market elective with Professor Magnus Resch to learn more about the business of art and to meet and learn from renowned guest speakers.

What is your unique quality that will enable you to make a big contribution to the Class of 2026?  One of my unique qualities is my ability to balance analytical and creative thinking. My undergraduate studies and experience at McKinsey honed my analytical skills, which complement the creative abilities I’ve developed more intuitively over time.

Describe your biggest accomplishment in your career so far: On my first project at McKinsey, I supported a healthcare provider on COVID-19 crisis response and preparedness. I was able to inform national leaders on relevant, emerging trends, and some of the analyses I did were presented to Congress!

What do you hope to do after graduation? After graduating, I aim to explore the intersection of business and art. I’m particularly interested in strategic and marketing roles, but I’m open to other opportunities that align with my mission to drive inclusion and equity in the arts.

What advice would you give to help potential applicants gain admission into Yale SOM’s MBA program? My biggest piece of advice is to be authentic! When I came to campus for admissions events before being accepted, I initially questioned my decision to pursue an MBA after realizing how different my career interests were from others. However, I reminded myself that we all have unique paths and decided to be honest about my interests and passions throughout the process. I believe this approach helped me tell my story in a compelling way.
