Personal and professional development is one of the cornerstones of the Rotman MBA experience. What have you learned about yourself so far and what do you hope to achieve? Coming from India, where networking isn’t as essential for career growth, I was initially surprised by how crucial it is in the Canadian market. To my delight, I’ve quickly picked up the nuances, and it has become a skill that comes naturally to me. I hope to leverage networking not only to advance professionally but also to build a strong, reliable personal network of friends.

What has been your favorite part of Toronto so far? Why? Having grown up in a landlocked area, living in Toronto near a large water body has been a refreshing change. I love spending time by the lake or in spots with a clear view of it—it’s incredibly calming and brings me a sense of peace.

Aside from your classmates and location, what was the one key part of Toronto Rotman’s MBA programming that led you to choose this business school and why was it so important to you? The opportunity to pursue a ‘Strategy’ emphasis is a unique offering that sets Rotman apart. As an aspiring strategy consultant, this distinctive feature gave Rotman a clear edge over other schools I considered.

What course, club or activity have you enjoyed the most so far at Toronto Rotman? I enjoyed the orientation camp the most (although it was not at the Rotman campus). It provided a wonderful opportunity to connect with my future classmates in a relaxed, informal setting and allowed me to reflect on my goals before fully diving into the MBA journey.

Describe your biggest accomplishment in your career so far: I led a team to deliver actionable market entry strategy for the client product in dermatology space across more than 20 global markets. We achieved significant market share and revenue growth for the client, while impacting the lives of millions of patients globally.

Describe your biggest accomplishment as an MBA student so far? My biggest achievement in the MBA has been to develop an ability to juggle multiple priorities and effectively manage my time. With constant demands from academics, extracurriculars, networking, and personal commitments, it’s crucial to navigate these conflicts early to make the journey both fulfilling and rewarding.

What has been your best memory as an MBA so far? As an international student, it’s inspiring to see others who were once in my shoes are now thriving. While I can’t pick just one moment, the panel and networking events hosted by the South Asian Business Association have created some of my most memorable experiences. The discussions with established South Asian professionals in the Canadian market are always incredibly motivating and wholesome.
